HBO is adding the spice of Asia to their network this November, with the premiere of their new original series, “Food Lore”.
The series is an anthology drama series, with each episode featuring a different set of tone, voice, and narrative. Not only that, each of the 8 episode series were also filmed in a different country with the director of each episode hailing from the country where it was shot.
The countries in the series are, Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and, of course, Malaysia. Each hour long episode a contains story and will explore the lives of the characters and their adventure with food.
More specifically Asian cuisines.
So no more steaks and burgers as we will be looking at the Asian specials of the menu this time. Mark your calendars as we’ll be looking at the 8th episode of the series title “Stray Dogs”. It so happens to be the Malaysian episode. Best for last, right?
The episode will air on 22nd December 2019 and is be directed by Ho Yu Hang, who previously did “Mrs K”. The actors involve in said episode will be Wilson Tin from “Lee Chong Wei: The Movie” and joining him will be Fabian Loo who starred in “Fly By Night”.
Wilson will play the ill-tempered cook, Maki, while Fabian will play the ambitious young salesperson, Tim. The story revolves around their relationship, with Tim hoping to open up a food franchise with the brilliant, but grouchy, Chef Maki. Maki rejects Tim’s proposal, but they gradually form an unlikely friendship.
Their friendship is then put to the test, when Tim discovers the secret recipe for Maki’s sambal. Tim will find himself having to choose between selling the recipe or stay loyal to his newfound friend.
If you’re interested in the series then it is available for viewing right now, at Astro channel 411 or 431 for the HD version. But if TV isn’t your thing then the series is also available for streaming on HBO GO.

Being overprotective as a parent is fine. But rapper T.I. revealed that he takes his 18-year-old daughter to a gynaecologist, every birthday, so that he can check up on her hymen. A lot of people think that’s taking things a bit too far.
The reveal happened earlier this week in a podcast, “Ladies Like Us”, hosted by Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham. In it, the rapper was asked if he ever had the “sex talk” with his daughter, Deyjah Imani Harris.

“Have I? This is the thing: Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself,” he said in the podcast. “And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen.”
The “Antman” star then goes into greater details on how the process is done. The rapper would post stick-it note at the door informing his daughter of gynaecologist visit, the morning after her birthday party. The two parties would then sign papers so he would be informed of his daughter’s hymen condition. “I will say as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact,” he proudly declared.

It didn’t take long before the “Live Your Life” rapper became a trending subject on Twitter. This led to celebrities and many others, reacting in disgust at the situation.
One those celebrity was Sharon Osborne, who said, “Firstly, he should never ever be talking about his daughter’s sex life, ever. On a podcast? I think it’s freaky he would go to the gynaecologist with his daughter and to talk about it. Don’t talk about your kids’ sex life, about what’s going on in their body, it is sacred to them. Malaysian actor Remy Ishak recently shared with his fans a shocking news on his Instagram.
During one of his Instagram live, Remy (full name Mohammad Zalimei Ishak) confessed that he has become a target of witchcraft. According to the “Pujaan Hati Kanda” star, he thought that he was just suffering from depression, to the point where he felt like ending his own life!
“My suspicions were indeed wrong, after seeking Islamic medical treatment with an ustaz, only then I found out that I was spelled. During the treatment, I could sense that there was this energy that controlled my body. As a result, my whole body became stiff during the whole process of the treatment,” said Remy.
In addition, he said that his whole body will become “uncharacteristically weak” right after performing the Subuh (dawn) prayer up until Asar prayer (right before dusk). “I’m still facing this until today, especially so during Maghrib (dusk) when I want to pray. I feel like something is disturbing me,” he added.

He continued sharing his “dark” experience by saying, “I just have this sense of uneasiness to the point that I can easily lose my temper as well sometimes, especially when I am in a crowded public area. But thankfully, I still have the strength to fight (the spell) thanks to the faith that I strongly believe in.”
The 37-year-old heartthrob further said that it will take some time for him to recover. However, he strongly believes that there will be solution to every unfortunate thing happening to him at the moment. “No one who can overcome God’s power, so I must be strong to fight against this,” the “Sangkar” actor further added.

According to Singapore publication Today Online, one of the guests leaked a screenshot of the wedding invite. The text reads:

The wedding venue remains a secret but it is speculated that Lin Chiling and Akira’s big day might be held at 1 of these 3 locations: the historic Houbi Huang Family Mansion, Tainan Art Museum and the Silks Place Hotel.
Reports are suggesting that the 44-year-old beauty prefers her wedding to take place at the family mansion, which was built in 1927. It’s not just more meaningful to hold traditional Chinese customs there but Houbi is also Chiling’s dad’s hometown.
Chiling’s rep also released a statement on her behalf. It reads:
“Thank you to my media friends for your concern! It will just be a really small gathering with family and friends on that day, and I will definitely be sharing photos after that! I’m really sorry that we aren’t able to invite everyone. I will be holding [my wedding] in Tainan, as I would like to share the same memories as my parents. Thank you all, you’ve worked hard.”
“I will not be the last Jedi,” was the words Luke Skywalker uttered at the end of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. At the time, many audience would assume that he was hinting at Rey, with the screen immediately cutting to her.
But that was not originally the case, as revealed by Carrie Fisher’s brother to Yahoo Entertainment. According to Todd Fisher, his sister’s character Leia, was supposed to emerge as a full-fledge Jedi in the movie – complete with her very own lightsaber.

That said, the studio was forced to make changes when they learned about the iconic actress’s death, in late 2016. “She was going to be the big payoff in the final film,” the brother said, adding, “She was going to be the last Jedi, so to speak. That’s cool right?”
The idea of Leia being a Jedi Warrior would have fitted well within the movie. This was made more apparently, when the fans were teased about in the 2017’s flick. The scene was when the princess used the force to pull herself to safety, after she was thrown into outer space by the First Order.

It would have been interesting to see how her story would have developed in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. Would she be training Daisy Ridley’s character? Would she sacrifice herself for the greater good like what her brother or Obi-wan did? Guess we would never really know.
One thing is for sure – that the scavenger-turn-Jedi Rey was always going to be the main focus and the Last Jedi. But we will still keep an eye out on how they will conclude Leia’s story.

The scenes with the icon in the upcoming movie will be incorporating unused footages from “Star Wars: The Force Awaken”. “They had eight minutes of footage,” Fisher told Yahoo. “They grabbed every frame and analysed it… and then reverse-engineered it and [got] it into the story the right way. It’s kind of magical.”
When asked about how the “reverse-engineering” was done, the brother refused to elaborate. But he did add that director J.J. Abram found a way to address the lost in an emotional way. “This is in its own way a payoff… it’s Carrie talking to us all from beyond,” he added.

We do hope the movie does well and can recoup the respect of some fans who felt betrayed by Disney. And we especially hope that the new movie can finally answer the question of what Rey’s final name is.

f(x)’s Amber Liu (엠버) is finally back with a music video for her new single called “Other People”!
In the video, the California-born entertainer portrays a more chic and playful side of herself as she moves on from her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend (played by YouTuber Sam Li).
For those who haven’t watched the video yet, fret not because we won’t spill any spoilers here. But we just want to point out one of the major highlights of the video clip – a sultry kissing scene between Amber and Mike Bow, who appeared as the star’s new boyfriend in the video.
The specific scene manages to catch widespread attention from the internet community, with most of them claiming that they were “not ready” for the steamy part. Interestingly, even Amber’s closest friends – namely Ailee (에일리) and Eric Nam (에릭남) – showed their amusement upon watching the scene.
The “Heaven” songstress uploaded a clip of Amber’s kiss scene on her Instagram account. “I remember when u showed us this scene to me and @realericnam (Eric Nam) and we just died. 🙊🙈🙉🙊🙉🙈🙊🙉,” she wrote on the caption. Other celebs like Mighty Mouth’s Sangchu and Girl’s Day’s Minah also replied to Ailee’s post, expressing their astonishment towards the former girl group member.

According to Amber, “Other People” is inspired by her own personal experience. She took to Instagram to share with her fans the inside story of the new track. “After the break up, I made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of dumb things. I’m so thankful for the friends that got me through it. You know who you are ,” she wrote in the post.

The involvement of Disney+ into Marvel’s plans has certainly change a lot of things. This was made more evident by the various Marvel characters making their way into the streaming service.
One of which is the Asgardian trickster, Loki, who will be starring in their own self-titled series, “Loki”. But that’s not all, as Marvel’s boss Kevin Feige revealed earlier this week that “Loki” will tie into the upcoming Doctor Strange’s film, “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness”.

Now, we all know that another series, “WandaVision”, will be involved in the new “Doctor Strange” film. However, the addition of “Loki” in the mix is certainly a new development for the story, which Feige himself acknowledged, “I’m not sure we’ve actually acknowledged that before,” he said. “But it does.”
The 46-year-old has also confirmed that the Disney+ shows will play a major role in keeping up with the upcoming Marvel’s films. Stating that, “If you want to understand everything in future Marvel movies, you’ll probably need a Disney+ subscription, because events from the new shows will factor into forthcoming films such as ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.”

Reynolds’ latest promotion took aim at the comical attempt made by Warner Bros. to use CGI to remove a moustache on Cavill’s face. The attempt receive many criticism and laughs from the fans and critics alike, when it was first unveiled in the 2017’s “Justice League” film.
At that time, the “Man Of Steel” actor was in contract to shoot the “Mission Impossible: Fallout” film. In the flick, the Brit was portraying a CIA assassin, called Augustus Walker, who also has a moustache. So when the “Witcher” star was called in to shoot some extra scenes for the 2017’s flick, he was contractually obligated to keep the moustache.
The “Mission Impossible” role along with scheduling conflict between the actor and the studio. Resulted, in the studio forcing to remove the moustache via CGI, which lead to the now viral meme.
The promotion even garnered sympathy from the maker himself, who captioned the video with “Honestly, I’m so sorry about this. @aviationgin @movember“. But that clearly wasn’t enough to stop him from releasing it.

Love is in the air for Malaysian actress Janna Nick. The versatile entertainer recently revealed that she has been dating up-and-coming actor, Dini Schatzmann.
We know that not all have the information on who is the guy that managed to win the heart of the award-winning TV host. Therefore, we decided to celebrate this good news by coming up with a compilation of 6 fun facts about him that fans should know:
Dini was born to a Malay mother and a Swiss father. He admitted once in an interview that he is still struggling to master the Malay language. However, he is fluent in speaking in the Northern dialect, as he grew up speaking Penang dialect with her mother.
The Penang-born heartthrob graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada. He then decided to venture into acting after finishing his studies. His mom was in charge of introducing him to local producers and directors.
Determined to make a mark in the local entertainment scene, he finally made his way back to Malaysia in May 2018 to pursue a full-time career in our country.
3. Preparation for acting
When he first came into the local entertainment scene, Dini took the first step by entering an acting class with renowned senior actress and also theatre activist, Fatimah Abu Bakar. He also took Malay language classes to strengthen his skills in speaking the language.
“When I got the opportunity to pursue a career here, I straight away applied for Bahasa Malaysia class as well as acting class. I don’t want to be burdensome to others. Therefore, I need to work on my accent,” he said to Harian Metro.

Dini made his his first ever appearance as the character Naqib in the local TV series “Cik Reen & Encik Ngok Ngek” (2018) alongside Farah Nabilah, Fikry Ibrahim, and Haneesya Hanee. His handsome facial feature managed to gain significant buzz among fans of the drama.
5. Both Dini and Janna were co-stars in “Bukan Cinta Aku”
Dini and Janna both appeared together in a local melodrama called “Bukan Cinta Aku” with Syafiq Kyle and also Indonesian actor Baim Wong earlier this year. The interesting part is that both of them didn’t appear as lovers, instead Dini starred as Janna’s younger brother.

South Korean girl group APINK (에이핑크) recently made their much-anticipated comeback here in our country for the Lazada 11.11 Super Show event – joining in the extravagant line up of other big names such as Hujan, Ayda Jebat, K-Clique and Siti Nordiana.
For those who have missed the show which was aired live from PICC, Putrajaya on TV3 last night (Sunday, 10th November), no worries because we’ve got you covered on 5 fun things that managed to catch our attention during the girl group’s appearance at the concert.
During the red carpet. the girl group was asked by the emcee, Natalie Hussein to teach her some Korean slangs. “In Korea, teenagers like to come out with shorter forms of long phrases by taking the first syllable of each word,” main vocalist Eunji (정은지) explained, before adding, “In this case, the term Cha Man Chu (차.만.추) is quite famous these days. It means to recommend someone to meet or date someone naturally, rather than going on blind dates.”
During the session, fellow member Naeun (손나은) also received props for her skills in the photography. “Rather than posing on purpose, I often take many candid shots of myself, and I would pick one of the best,” said the Cheongdamdong-born starlet.

4. They performed a toned down version of their choreography
Another interesting part that we want to point out is during the performance of “I’m So Sick” – taken from their 7th mini album. In this case, it was obvious that the members tried to portray a less seductive performance of the song in terms of the dance sequence.
As seen in the video above, the girls were seen reducing sexually suggestive choreographies like hip movements as well as chest popping dance that were heavily executed in the original choreography.

5. The hall was filled with Pink Panda light sticks
If you watch this performance of “Luv”, you can tell that the majority of the crowd gathered at Bukit Jalil to watch APINK perform live in front of their eyes. As the cameras switch to the audience, you can see all the light sticks and banners everywhere in the hall.
Not only that, their live vocals have also wowed the crowd who were present at the event. Despite the massive line-up of popular local names as aforementioned above, it was clear that the girl group has also managed to mark their stable name here in Malaysia.
To be honest, we felt that the segment involving APINK was too short, though. Fingers crossed that they will come back here soon for another showcase or concert for Malaysian fans.

Being the comic book obsessives country that we are, Pos Malaysia has decided to introduce 11 limited-edition Batman postal stamps this coming Wednesday (13th November 2019). This is to commemorate the character’s 80th anniversary since it’s creation in 1939.

The group consists of brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, along with Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre. The quartet will be performing their show, “An Evening With 98 Degrees”, at The Star Theaters in Singapore on 20th February 2020.

98 Degrees, best known for songs like “Invisible Man”, “I Do” and “The Hardest Thing”, first made their debut in 1997. At the time, they were sneaking behind a Boyz II Men concert before they were discovered by a local radio station. This lead to their single “Invisible Man” that peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 100.
The group then gone on to develop 4 albums between 1997 to 2000 before going on a hiatus in 2003. Since then, the group reunited in 2012 to develop 2 more albums “2.0” and “Let It Snow” in 2013 and 2017.

This got us wondering on what the other members have been up to – namely Choi Seung-hyun (최승현), better known as T.O.P, and Kwon Ji-yong (권지용), whom fans know as G-Dragon.

Ever since his recent discharge, G-Dragon has been occupied with his collaboration with sportswear brand Nike. The BIGBANG leader will be releasing a new edition of the iconic Air Force 1 sneaker called AF1 Para-Nose. The sneakers are inspired by G-Dragon’s interest in fashion, music, art, culture, and sports. It has daisy flower prints and the logo of his fashion label Peaceminusone.
Yesterday (Monday, 11th November), T.O.P posted a few photographs of himself wearing a white jacket over an indigo sweater. But what caught fans’ attention was his long hairstyle (covering his right eye). He’s clearly serving visuals with his side profile snapshot.

It’s cool to see that T.O.P has also been spending time dabbling in some artsy passion project. Now that T.O.P, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung have all completed their military services, VIPs are hoping for a BIGBANG comeback.
Life in the big city can be tough, so any extra convenience is certainly a welcome. That being said, we bring some good news to public commuters passing trough LRT Pasar Seni. This is because the new link bridge connecting the LRT and KTM stations is finally open.
The bridge will link the LRT Pasar Seni station together with KTM Kuala Lumpur together. Effectively, saving citizens some time and money in skipping out the need to go to KL Sentral.

In addition, this will also bring benefits to MRT users whose previous option in switching to KTM line is at KL Sentral (Muzium Negara). That is if we disregard the distant Terminal stations of Sungai Buloh and Kajang, which is situated at each end of the MRT line.
Users worrying about the distance have nothing to fear, as the bridge is only be 102 meters long and is equipped with fans and travelators. Thus, making the journey easier for all, especially users of MRT to KTM and vice versa.

The bridge was built by Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), under the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line scope of works. This is part of their work to ensure increase accessibility to MRT line with more planned for the future.
The project which started construction in April 2016, was actually due to open in December but manage to finish up 1 month early. This is thanks to the good folks at MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd and Trans Resources Corp Sdn Bhd, who are the main contractors of the bridge.

Hopefully this will ease the amount of congestion at KL Sentral as we are all too familiar with. Plans are underway to make the interchange between the various lines more seamless.
We here are certainly delighted with the news. Now, if only they find a way to open up the pedestrian bridge at Abdullah Hukum (it was supposed to open in October), then we’re all set.

Aliff’s mother, S Hafiza Basharahil took to Instagram to share the good news to everyone. “To anyone who asked about my son’s condition, praise to God for everyone’s prayers, he is okay. After meeting his son (Ayden Adrian) last night, fingers crossed that his condition will improve,” S Hafiza wrote on the caption.
“I believe there is a reason for everything that had happened in our lives, and only God knows why. With all humility, I would like to thank everyone for the warm wishes and prayers,” she further added in the post.

The “Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame – The Art of the Movie”, which is an art book for the movie, recently debuted. It contains a picture of the future villain in baby form, telling us what could have been.
The early days of the Purple Giant is certainly one that interest many. Especially since the reveal of the concept art for the “Eternals” shows the young titan. The character’s childhood certainly brought along a lot of interest from Marvel Executive Vice President, Victoria Alonso.
“To be honest with you I’ve always been interested in Thanos’ childhood,” Alonso said in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) earlier this year. “Although I don’t know if we will see it in one of our movies, I think it’s important to know how he became who he was.”
