Minister Confirms That White Rabbit Candy Is Not Halal

Ever since Brunei’s Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) did a lab test and labelled the White Rabbit candy as non-halal, the debate has been ongoing.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh informed TV Al Hijrah that our favourite childhood candy is officially non-halal and thus, certified haram.

Source: Yum of China

The National Chemistry Department ran a test on the sweet milky sweet and found traces of cow and pig DNA in it. As previously reported, Muslim consumers have been advised to avoid the Chinese-made product even though it went viral over the past few months.

As you may know, foodies have not just been introduced to White Rabbit candy-flavoured ice-cream but also White Rabbit boba tea and cakes. Project Ice Cream and Rumah Gelato are several brands that made the decision to discontinue the White Rabbit dessert. It’s likely that more F&B chains will follow suit.

What a bummer, isn’t it?

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have been very cosy in public.

Cabello recently told Elle that she wants to keep her relationship private – emphasising it’s “mine and his” only – to protect it. So imagine our surprise when Mendes uploaded a video clip of them smooching dramatically.

So we saw like on Twitter and stuff, you guys saying about the way we were kissing and how it looks weird. Like we kiss like fish,” Mendes says into the camera. “Yeah, it really hurt our feelings,” Cabello agrees.

So we just wanted to show you how we really kiss,” the Canadian pop star adds. Just when you thought they were leaning it for a romantic kiss, things turned comedic as the Cuban-born singer sticks her tongue in Mendes’ mouth. The duo then proceeded to show fans their over-the-top make out session.

Neelofa Throws Shade At Brother-In-Law Sharnaaz Ahmad?

Uh-oh! It seems like Neelofa’s not happy with what her elder sister, Noor Nabila is going through at the moment.

The famous celebrity-entrepreneur recently posted some updates to her fans with a series of statements on her social media – which fans believed are directed to Nabila’s husband, Sharnaaz Ahmad.

Neelofa – or known as Lofa in short – posted a string of online status on her Twitter account, “I just watched the best ‘drama’ ever’. Guess who’s the actor? You killed it!” the 30-year-old actress wrote, before adding, “Now, the award for best actor goes to..”

Lofa’s posts has generated massive buzz among local netizens. Most of them believed that the “actor” she is referring to is none other than Sharnaaz.

The “MeleTOP” TV host further added in her recent tweet, “I hardly share about what I feel… Mmm it’s getting a bit too much now”, along with a photo of a quote that reads, “We all know someone who speaks fluent shit.”

In response to Neelofa’s posts online, the “Darah Panas” actor seems to be unbothered to give further comments, “I have no idea. Most probably it’s Tom Hanks I suppose,” said Sharnaaz in an interview with Harian Metro.

For those who might not know, Neelofa is currently in New York for the fashion week.

Baby Shima Reignites Feud With Dato’ Aliff Syukri By Creating Fuss During Event

Things turned sour during the launch of Dato’ Aliff Syukri’s latest single, “Cowok Baru” held in Jakarta recently.

The event became intense when Baby Shima made her appearance during the press conference. The dangdut singer was seen very furious and started shouting at the D’Herbs owner. They have been on bad terms since Shima’s criticised the entrepreneur’s singing.

Source: YouTube

According to a news report by Hangat, Shima was detained from entering the venue, despite being invited by Dato’ Aliff’s management. The “Pura-Pura Bujang” singer was left fuming and embarrassed; she attempted to “attack” him during the event.

The footage of the fuss was captured during the live streaming in Dato’ Aliff’s official Facebook page, before it was spread and became viral among the Internet community. For those who are curious, check out the full clip below:

Based on the video, the former “Big Stage” contestant claimed that the “Abang Cowokku” singer purposely invited her just to embarrass her in front of the audience.

As a response to the ongoing issue, Shima (real name Norashima Ramli) came out with a lengthy statement in her Instagram. However, the post has been deleted by her soon after.

Source: Instagram

Her statement is read as follows:

“Thank you Dato’ for embarrassing me during the press conference. I didn’t mean any prejudice towards you so I decided to come (to the launch) after being advised by my management team. But I didn’t expect that you and your team would go all the way to embarrass me.

What’s the use of having the invitation card but they didn’t allow me to enter the venue? What’s your purpose actually, Dato’? I didn’t even thought of attending the event in the first place. But with all the efforts you’ve made, I thought that you’ve decided to make peace. Only God knows how embarrassed I was during that time.”

Scalpers Already Reselling JJ Lin’s KL Concert Tickets Up To RM2000+

As many of you fans may know, JJ Lin (林俊傑)’s “Sanctuary 2.0 World Tour” Malaysian concert tickets went on sale yesterday (Friday, 13th September).

While 5 out of the 10 categories have already sold out (at time of writing), scalpers have already taken to their usual tactics to try and earn some extra bucks.

The 38-year-old pop star will be returning to Malaysia to perform at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on 7th December 2019 (Saturday). To recap, concert tickets are priced at RM888, RM688, RM588, RM488, RM388, RM228, RM188. Almost all of the cheapest categories have already sold out within 24 hours.

  • Still available: Cat 1, 2, 3, 8, 9
  • Sold out: Cat 4, 5, 6, 7, 10

Although there are still plenty of tickets up for grabs, scalpers have already taken to sites such as Viagogo and Carousell to resell their purchased tickets at a higher price. The most outrageous price we saw on Viagogo was a netizen reselling Cat 1 ticket (RM888) for RM2082. Meanwhile, there are those on Carousell reselling 1 pair of Cat 4 tickets (RM488 x 2) for RM1300.

Viagogo has previously stated that the platform “does not set ticket prices, sellers set their own prices, which may be above or below the original face value”.

Our advice? Don’t bother with any 2nd hand tickets (risk getting conned) and go straight to TicketCharge to purchase your JJ Lin concert tickets.

Asian diva Karen Mok (莫文蔚) will be making her way to Kuala Lumpur in November. This major concert will be her first – and also last – as she plans to retire from concert touring.

Titled “The Ultimate Karen Mok Show”, this anticipated tour will celebrate Mok’s 25 years in show business. The last time the 49-year-old songstress was in Malaysia to promote her music was back in 2013, for her English jazz album, “Somewhere I Belong”.

According to the press releases, “this well-curated world tour will feature an innovative blend of musical genres and is adorned with rich cultural elements such as tango, classical music, and traditional drums and ethnic dances with a strong oriental flavour“.

Music lovers will get to witness the singer-actress belt out her iconic ballads, show off her Guzheng skill in a suave solo, and a fashion extravaganza (that will include a nude-coloured bodysuit, sexy skin-tight Cat woman jumpsuit and a glittery golden princess gown).

Known for her classic songs such as “Glowing Fond of You”, “He Loves Me Not”, “When You Are Old”, “Suddenly”, and “If Without You”, concert-goers can expect performances from her latest studio album “Half Time” as well.

Despite “The Ultimate Karen Mok Show” being her final concert, the pop star wants fans to know that she’s not quitting show business. “I’m not going to retire because performing is my life’s mission. It’s something I knew I wanted to do since I was little,” she was quoted as saying.

Mok explained, “With a solo pop concert, there’s only so much one can do. These are your songs and this is your basket of material, so how different can you regurgitate it every single time? So by now, after 25 years, this is the ultimate I can do with the material that I’ve got.”

The details to “The Ultimate Karen Mok Show” Live in Malaysia are as follows:

  • Date: 30th November 2019 (Saturday)
  • Venue: Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil
  • Time: 8pm
  • Ticketing: RM758, RM638, RM538, RM428, RM328, RM228

Jointly organized by Star Planet and Entertainment Impact, co-organised by Live Nation, tickets for “The Ultimate Karen Mok Show” in Kuala Lumpur 2019 will go on sale starting on 20th September, from 11am onwards. Star Planet members who sign up on or before 18th September 2019 will enjoy a 15% off on tickets (except RM228 ticket).

Concert Review: Andy Lau Celebrated Mid Autumn Festival With Malaysian Fans

$

Can you believe that it’s been 14 years since Andy Lau (刘德华)’s last concert in Malaysia?

The 57-year-old Heaven King (he turns 58 on 27th September) addressed his long absence when he kicked off his “My Love World Tour” 3-day shows in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on Friday (13th September).

The Hong Kong heartthrob joked that his 2005 concert, which took place at Stadium Merdeka, didn’t perform so well in terms of ticket sales. Thus, the hesitance. The original plan was to have 2 shows for his Malaysian pitstop this year. But due to the demand from fans, a 3rd date was added. Only another Heaven King – Jacky Cheung – has successfully pull off a 3-day concert here.

Of course, he’s been spotted in Malaysia before but a concert has been long overdue. “I love Malaysia, since it’s my second home, and it’s always great to sing in Kuala Lumpur, for here’s some of my strongest fans,” said Lau, whose wife Carol Chu (朱丽倩) is a Malaysian herself. Despite the horrendous jam that night, fans turned up in droves to see their favourite idol in person.

The lights dimmed and Lau kicked off the concert in style with “Conspire” and “Chinese”. He was dressed in a white traditional Zhongshan costume and continued serving us different looks throughout the night. At one point, he even took off his coat to show off his drumming skills on 360-degree rotating stage.

The biggest surprise of the night came when Lau was suspended in mid-air while standing on a small platform. While singing “If One Day”, the superstar was able to get in close proximation with concert-goers in the upper tier. This was a special treat for fans to get a better look at the singer instead of relying on the screens.

Since it was Mid Autumn Festival, Lau also brought some nostalgia to the concert venue by asking everyone to join in on the well-loved Mandarin classic “The Moon Represents My Heart”. Although this song has been included in numerous Chinese concerts, it never seems to get old.

Through the night, we lost count on the number of times the entertainer called himself “Leng Chai” (靓仔), which translates to handsome. Lau admits that he’s no longer youthful but still likes being referred to as Mr Handsome. Many fans also found it cute that whenever he wanted to elicit screams from the crowd, he would cheekily place his hand towards his ear and wait for the loud cheers to follow.

Works every time.

Andy Lau “My Love World Tour” concert setlist:

1.预谋 (“Conspire”)
2.中国人 (“Chinese”)
3.笨小孩 (“Stupid Kid”)
4.谢谢你的爱 (“Thank You For Your Love”)
5. 独自去偷欢 (“Self Happy”)
6.如果有一天 (“If One Day”)

8.冰雨 (“Ice Rain”)
9.爱你一万年 (“Ageless Love”)
10.暗里着迷 (“Affection”)
11.联系 (“Practice”)
12.十七岁 (“17”)
13.你是我的梦 (“You Are My Dream”)
14.男人哭吧不是罪 (“Crying Man”)
15.你是我的女人 (“You Are My Woman”)
15a.月亮代表我的心 (“The Moon Represents My Heart”)
16. “My Love”
17.今天 (“Today”)
18.我很我痴心/忘情水/再吻我吧/无间道/不需要爱情/末世天使/没有人可以像你/爱不完/我很我痴心

Raja Permaisuri Agong Reactivates Twitter Account After 4 Culprits Were Exposed

$

Recently, we were surprised to hear about our Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah deactivating her Twitter account.

We believe everyone already knows that Raja Permaisuri Agong has often been very active sharing her everyday activities through her account – @cheaminahsayang. Her decision to quit Twitter has received widespread reactions by many people.

Source: VOCKET

It was rumoured that the real reason of her departure from Twitter is due to some foul-mouthed Twitter trolls who actually took time to be unkind towards the Queen online using their own personal accounts.

And thanks to eagle-eyed netizens’ quick actions. 4 of the suspected trolls have been exposed online via @an_msaiful ‘s Twitter account. For those who are curious, here are the picture of all the culprits.

As of writing, both Firdaus Asraf as well as Khalid Ismath have came out with their official statement of apology towards the Royal Queen. Meanwhile, Anis Khalidi appeared to have deactivated her account while Rais Razak is currently seen still active on his social media account.

As a response to the issue, Raja Permaisuri Agong appeared to have reactivated her Twiiter account. In her latest update, Tunku Azizah assured everyone about the real situation – denying all the allegations of her taking time off Twitter due to the malicious comments. Instead, the Queen cited that she’s quit Twitter for “personal reasons”.

Additionally, she also expressed her disappointment upon hearing the news about the arrest of the supposed individuals who have allegedly left malicious remarks towards her and also the other Royal family members.

According to Tunku Azizah, even though both Agong and herself have received tons of hate comments and backlash, they’d never referred the cases to the police. She further added that they only knew about the ongoing issue through their daughter, Tengku Puteri Afzan.

The internet community were happy to hear that Raja Permaisuri Agong has made her comeback on Twitter. However, their excitement didn’t last long as the account was deactivated again after a few hours.

We believe Raja Permaisuri Agong has her own reasons on carrying out the action. As Malaysians, we should respect our Ruler’s decisions.

Heard of the saying, “Time flies when you’re having so much fun“?

Yes, 2020 will come and greet us in approximately 3 months time. And most of us cannot help but feel a sense of throwback as time goes. What better way to reminisce our younger days than a bit of a throwback to our lives, right?

Source: YouTube

Recently, a local Twitter user known as @iffgone came out with a list of Malaysian TV ads that people used to enjoy watching back in the 1980s. 1990s as well as 2000s. Feeling old yet? Let’s take a trip down memory lane and enjoy the list of the ads that are shared by the user:

1. Maggi

Nothing beats the taste of Malaysia’s favourite instant noodle brand! The ad was released back in 1983. Comparing the past ad with the more recent one, Maggi still retains in using family bond as the central theme for their adds.

2. Kipas Udang Soy Sauce

Like Maggi, Kicap Udang branded soy sauce is also a must-have in most households here in Malaysia. This video is one of the earliest version of the promotional that was aired back in the late 80s.

3. Trojan Detergent

This is an old promotional ad for the Trojan Perkasa detergent that was aired back in the year 1993. The iconic ad features the story of an old man with a smelly shirt riding the bus. Another interesting part of this ad is also the ability for the bus to transform into a garbage truck in a blink of an eye among many other special effects included in the 40-seconds ad.

Fun fact: The ad features veteran actress Khatijah Tan.

4. Rexona

This ad features famous model-turned-actress Nasha Aziz. It was aired back in 1989.

5. Proton Saga

This ad made for the popular Malaysian-branded car was first aired back in the year 1986.

6. Choc Fudge Cookies

Famous for its catchphrase ‘kejap ada kejap tak ada’ (Present at a glance, then absent at the next glance), the catchphrase is commonly used among the more senior folks to compare a presence of a person to a cookie. Pretty cool, huh?

7. Dutch Lady

The ad was aired back in 1983.

8. Eveready Battery

The nostalgic battery ad first debuted on local televisions back in the year 1987.

9. Guinness Stout Alcoholic Beverage

The alcoholic beverage ad was aired back sometime in the 80s. The interesting part is that the ad was available in Bahasa Malaysia which is very rare to find in the present day.

Fun fact: Promotional ads for any alcoholic was banned from airing in Malaysia back in 1995.

10. Tea Pot Condensed Milk

The classic ad was released back in the year 1984, featuring the late actor Ahmad B.

Fans Give Mixed Remarks Towards Mamamoo’s Controversial “Queendom” Performance

Korean girl group Mamamoo (마마무) has been pushing boundaries when it comes to their live performances.

The quartet is currently competing in Mnet’s new survival show “Queendom” (퀸덤) with other girl groups such as Lovelyz, (G)I-DLE and AOA.

Source: Mnet

However, the group has generated massive buzz among local netizens for their live rendition of AOA’s “Good Luck” in the recent episode of the show.

In the performance, one of the members Hwasa was shown dancing suggestively while singing the first part of the song – before the spotlight went to the group’s rapper Moonbyul.

This is the part where the public talked about most. During Moonbyul’s take on the 2016 hit, the 27-year-old was seen leashing 2 male dancers while performing the rap component of the song. As a result, most fans expressed mixed reaction over the performance.

Source: YouTube

In this case, most K-fans believed that the “You’re The Best” hit maker’s performance showed prejudice against the male community. Additionally, fans – mostly boy group stans – pointed out the double standard exists in the entertainment industry. In this case, they claimed that it’s okay for female idols to carry out such performance while it’s considered a taboo for male idols.

Here are some of the netizens’ comments:

“If a male idol had girls leashed up acting like dogs on the ground like that, the stage would’ve made it in the news already ㅋㅋ (ha ha). Which century are we living in that they’re still doing dance like that?”

“They considered women controlling men as girl crush but men controlling women misogyny… The double standard.”

Despite the criticisms, MooMoos (Mamamoo stans) worldwide showed their support towards the girl group – praising them for their portrayal of female empowerment apart from complimenting the members for killing it on stage.

Namewee Calls Out Unnamed Dato For Going Back On His Word

Just 2 days before Malaysia Day, Namewee (黃明志) uploaded a video on YouTube.

During the 6 minutes 30 seconds clip, the 36-year-old rapper shined the spotlight on a particular Dato. He didn’t reveal the identity of said person but he did share that it was a Chinese Dato.

Before that though, the controversial artist shed light on his travel predicaments since last year. He recalls that his passport was blacklisted in February 2018. “Every time I walk through customs I will be detained by customs officer (when travelling abroad),” the entertainer said. To date, he has been detained approximately 70-80 times in less than 2 years.

It’s quite tedious when one has to answer the same questions over and over again. On top of that, it’s time consuming. Upon meeting a Chinese Dato, who apparently has close connections with PM Mahathir, Namewee was promised that his ongoing issue would be resolved.

Fast forward 3 months later, that same Dato called. However, it was to ask a favour for Namewee to perform at the grand opening of the Dato’s shop. But when the matter of costing was brought up, the Dato scolded Namewee’s manager.

Namewee went on to indirectly explain that while he doesn’t mind performing for free, transportation and employees do need to be paid.

The rapper ended his clip with a plea in hopes that he’ll get to meet Tun Dr Mahathir or someone in power to look into his passport case. It’s not too much to ask right?

BTS’ Jungkook Respond To Alleged Leaked Dating Photo

BTS member Jungkook (정국) suddenly got caught up in dating rumours – and ARMYs (BTS stans) are not prepared for the news.

The shocking news came out, following a leaked CCTV footage, showing the 22-year-old allegedly hugging a woman, which fans believed to be his girlfriend. In addition, a photo of the 2 enjoying drinks together with a friend also circulated online.

Source: AllKpop

Some also insisted that the guy in the picture is not Jungkook, but it’s a picture of rapper Hash Swan (real name Han Deok-kwang) – who coincidentally sports the same hairstyle with the “Golden Maknae”.

As a response, the South Korean entertainer took to his Instagram story to shut down all the false reports. He posted a screen shot of the footage along with the caption, “This is not me. Many people have been asking.”

Source: Instagram Story

BTS’ agency, Big Hit Entertainment came out with an official statement in addressing the issue today (17th September 2019). The statement reads:

“The ongoing dating rumours regarding our artist Jungkook is absolutely not true. During his visit to Geojedo, his circle of tattooist acquaintances was also visiting there so he went out with them for meals and karaoke sessions.

We are sorry that his private life had to be distorted like this during his extended break. We are currently investigating whether or not the picture was taken illegally, and we will take strict legal action accordingly. In addition, the action of spreading false information to defame our artist will also be facing strict legal consequences.”

For those who might not know, all 7 members of BTS – RM, Jin, J-hope, Suga, Jimin, V as well as Jungkook – have been enjoying their break from the entertainment industry.

Following the hype on the appearance of local fruit rambutan in Netflix’s “Another Life”, now comes a new cameo making its way on the popular streaming platform.

Netflix’s original espionage series “The Spy” recently featured an episode where the main character Eli Cohen (Sacha Baron Cohen) was seen buying a Syrian newspaper. In this case, among the coins he used included a Malaysian 10 cents during the purchase.

Source: Newsweek

The scene was pointed out by a Facebook user named Errol Fung. The post has since received notable buzz among the people online.

Some expressed their confusion towards the usage of the coin since the series is set in the year 1960. Keep in mind that our country wasn’t even formed until 3 years later – 16th September 1963.

Additionally, netizens pointed out that it’s not relevant to showcase Malaysian coins in the series due to the fact that the characters are in Syria and not in our country – demanding explanations from Netflix itself.

The synopsis for “The Spy” are read as follows:

“The series is based on the real life story of Israeli clerk-turned-Mossad agent Eli Cohen. The series follows Cohen – who takes on the identity of Kamel Amin Thabet to carry out missions on behalf of Mossad. As the series go, he manages to find a spot in the Syrian Ministry of Defence for himself. He then becomes the Deputy Defence Minister as he founds himself involved with those who would eventually take over the country, including future president Amin Al-Hafiz.”

It’s currently streaming on Netflix.

As per reports, both Milano and Combs will portray sisters of a hospital patient who is brain dead following an accident from a construction site. The duo have to make the tough call whether they should keep their sister on life support or take it off. (And two, the third sibling isn’t played by Shannen Doherty or Rose McGowan.)

Fans of the magical 90s show will remember Milano and Combs for their roles as witch sisters. They played Phoebe and Piper Halliwell for 8 seasons on “Charmed”. Doherty starred as the telekinetic Prue, who was killed by a demon at the end of season 3 while McGowan joined the Charmed Ones as half-sibling Paige Matthews.

According to People, the upcoming “Grey’s Anatomy” episode will also reunite Milano and Combs with executive producers Krista Vernoff and Andy Reaser, who also wrote for “Charmed”. Even though it’s only the power of two, we’ll take it.

In light of this exciting news, many hardcore fans have been bugging Combs about a potential Charmed reunion. The actress has this to say – stop complaining and stop pestering her. Take it up to the powers that be.
