Uh-oh, it looks like the “Parasite” production team was slapped with plagiarism accusations recently. It was reported that the Oscar-award winning movie had copied a version of Tamil film called “Minsara Kanna”, which was released way back in 1999!

Film producer PL Thenappan claimed that the Bong Joon-ho directed flick is a “rip-off version” of the aforementioned movie. He further revealed his plans to take legal actions against the Korean filming house.

“I will file the case with the help from an international lawyer. They (‘Parasite’ production team) have stolen their plot from my film,” said Theappan. He added that he will demand for compensation from the filming crew for taking ideas from the classic movie.

For those who are curious, “Minsara Kanna” tells the story of Kaasi (played by famed Kollywood actor Vijay) who works as a driver for a wealthy family. He then brings in his family members one by one to work in the house with a hidden agenda.

Soon after the news about the film’s big win at Oscars broke out last week, a number of Tamil movie fans took to Twitter to “celebrate” the fact that “Parasite” features similar plot with the film. They even argued that “Minsara Kanna” is way better than the Korean-language movie.

It’s Louis Koo (古天樂) to the rescue!

Apparently veterans actors and actresses have been facing trouble in getting face masks during the Covid-19 outbreak. In response, the Hong Kong star has secured 20,000 face masks and will be distributing them to his fellow artists.

The 49-year-old actor, who is head of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild, assured the Hong Kong entertainment scene that they won’t have to fight the Covid-19 outbreak alone. Financial daily Hong Kong Economic Times reported that he’s trying to source for more masks.

This comes after news surfaced claiming that 66-year-old actress Angelina Lo (盧宛茵) had used toilet tissue paper together with cotton mask to wrap around her face. Many others have chosen to remain at home in order to minimise casualties.

Jamaican sprint athlete Usain Bolt once made history after he completed a 100-metre race in 9.58 seconds, he was then given the nickname Lightning Bolt for his outstanding feat. Fast forward to 2020, it looks like Bolt’s 10-year-old record has been tarnished by a young Indian named Srinivasa Gowda.

He competed in a buffalo race held in his hometown of Karnataka. Also referred to as the Kambala race, racers need to sprint across the muddy paddy field while holding onto two buffaloes in order to finish the game.

During the event, Gawda came in first with a time of 13.62 seconds for a distance of 124.4 metres! This means he only took 9.55 seconds to go through the first 100 metres – 0.03 seconds faster than Bolt’s previous record back in 2009. Gowda’s mind-blowing achievement has since made several headlines across the globe.

In response, sports minister Kiren Rijiju revealed his plans on recruiting the 28-year-old as part of the national team. “His rail ticket is done and he will reach SAI centre on Monday (17th February). I will ensure top national coaches to conduct his trials properly.” Rijiju wrote on his official Twitter.

As you may know, JB, Mark, Jinyoung, Jackson, Youngjae, Bambam and Yugyeom were originally supposed to perform in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on 7th March 2020. Unfortunately, unlike their concert in Bangkok, Thailand (which has been postponed to early May 2020), the Malaysian gig has been axed.

According to the statement, the ongoing coronavirus is just too big of a risk for the artists, performers, patrons and all working staffs. As such, concert-goers can get a full refund as soon as the details are provided.

Hopefully, GOT7 will rethink the cancellation and reschedule instead.

Malaysian singer Aishah took to her Instagram with a sarcastic statement to address Dato’ Seri Vida’s ongoing drama with Azwan Ali.

The “Selanjur Bercinta” songstress wrote, “That’s what it feels like when such apology was ridiculed and made fun of. Feeling humiliated? Does it hurt your feelings that much?” Aishah wrote. She further posted a few more rants online, pointing out her frustration towards netizens’ backlash against her.

Though she didn’t specifically mentioned any names, many assumed that Aishah’s snarky message was targeted at Dato’ Vida. For those who don’t know, both of them were involved in a highly-publicised feud back in 2018. The “Janji Manismu” hit-maker claimed that she was gifted a fake jewellery prize after she won a local singing competition.

Refusing to stay silent, the Qu Puteh owner posted a screenshot of an article, along with a caption that reads, “Don’t you ever compare your case with mine. You apologised in such a disgusting manner.. When media outlets gathered, you lost your self consciousness. You even blamed others who weren’t involved (with the issue).”

Dato’ Vida added, “I stayed quiet in the past because I wanted to give what you demanded. Even other organisers worldwide would never let you choose what you get.” As at time of writing (Monday, 17th February), the post has received over 29,000 likes online.

After she found out about Aishah’s update, Dato’ Vida gave taunting remarks to Aishah who tried to get involved with her ongoing case with Azwan Ali. “I gave Aishah a chance since she was being too desperate. So, don’t ever compare my issue with Azwan with hers,” the “I Am Me” singer was quoted as saying.

Moral of the story: You don’t want to get on Dato’ Vida’s bad side.

Following the release of Justin Bieber’s new album, “Changes”, the 26-year-old singer down for an extensive and wide-ranging conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

During the 43-minute chat, the pop star opened up about his marriage to Hailey Baldwin, unresolved issues, his new music, and also the story of the story of meeting Billie Eilish.

Things got emotional quickly when the interviewer asked Bieber about Eilish, who has been a super fan since childhood. “I don’t know how many opportunities I’m going to get,” he was quoted as saying. “We never know how many opportunities we’re going to get with anybody. I’m tearing up thinking about it, just with the Kobe situation, you know.”

When asked if he feels protective over the 18-year-old, Bieber replied, “Yeah, I definitely feel protective of her. It was hard for me being that young, and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turn their back on you in a second.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I want her to know that she can count on me, but at the end of the day, I don’t want to… I’m never going to force myself to be in relationship with her. It has to be natural, right? I just kind of let her do her thing.”

Bieber then added, “If she ever needs me, I’m going to be here for her. Just protecting those moments because people take for granted, encounters. I just want to protect her. I don’t want her to lose it. I don’t want her to go through anything I went through. I don’t wish that upon anybody. If she ever needs me, I’m just a call away.”

Eilish seemed touched by Bieber’s candid answer. The Grammy winner posted a clip along with some throwback photos (showing how big of a fan she has been) on her Instagram. She captioned the post, “stream changes”.

To be honest, I don’t think I even knew what I was really struggling with at the time. I don’t think I knew I was dealing with unforgiveness. I was just in a place where I knew I didn’t want to tell her one thing and… I felt like she respected me at the time and I had a lot of respect for her, and so I just didn’t want to say something and then she’d see me off doing some other thing.”
• When things ended: “But either way she loved me and seeing me with other people hurt her. And so with that being said, she went out and did things that hurt me. And so just this hurt, I’ve hurt her, she hurt me. And then before tour we just really stopped talking, I was really upset. And rather than, before that in my previous relationship I went off and just went crazy and went wild, just was being reckless. Oh dear! Another local star has left us today. This time it’s Ashraf Sinclair.

It was reported that the British-Malaysian heartthrob passed away earlier this morning (Tuesday, 18th February) after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 40 years old.

The unfortunate news was announced by his mother, Khadijah Abdul Rahman, as well as his manager, Daysz Erlangga. “My son Ashraf has returned to rahmatullah (the mercy of God). I’m on my way to Jakarta now,” she told mStar via WhatsApp. The latter posted a series of statements in both Malay and English on her Instagram story.

According to sources, the brother-in-law of famous songbird Yuna died at approximately 3:40am at MMC Kuningan, South Jakarta. His body is still in the hospital, as at time of writing. It is believed that details on his funeral will be out soon.

A number of famed celebrities – both in Malaysia and Indonesia – such as Fazura, Sazzy Falak, Melly Goeslow, Neelofa, Luna Maya, and Baim Wong among others have taken to their social media accounts to address his sudden passing. Fans have also taken to Twitter to pay their condolences to the “Gol & Gincu” actor.

I grew up watching Ashraf Sinclair on TV. Sad to hear the news of his sudden demise. Truly, death is unexpected. Always appreciate everyone in your life.

People aren’t quite over “Crash Landing On You” (사랑의 불시착) yet, despite the heartwarming finale over the weekend.

It’s no surprise, seeing as how the K-drama became tvN’s highest rated show in history! Naturally, the main cast will reflect on which scenes stood out throughout the season. Any guesses?

For Hyun Bin (현빈), it was the last scene in episode 9 where Captain Ri Jung Hyuk and Yoon Se Ri had to part ways even though they had fallen head over heels for one another. “(The scene) shows the feelings of Ri Jung Hyuk, who courageously crossed the military demarcation line to follow Yoon Se Ri, and it was a moment in which the two people overcame their reality,” he said.

The 37-year-old actor added, “I worked on the project hoping that ‘Crash Landing on You’ could be a gift to viewers in the way Ri Jung Hyuk and Yoon Se Ri’s unexpected encounter brought them special joy. Thank you for sending us lots of support and love and allowing Ri Jung Hyuk to happily ‘land’ by your sides.”

When it came to the leading lady, Son Ye Jin (손예진) remembers the conversation over drinks in episode 12. When Ri Jung Hyuk got tipsy after drinking, he confessed his love to Yoon Se Ri and they even toyed with the possibility of having a family together. Who can possibly forget that romantic scene right?

“I laughed a lot and cried a lot while acting as Yoon Se Ri. More than anything, I was very happy. I’m thankful to have been part of a project that will take up a very big part of my acting career, and I sincerely thank everyone who sent us love all this time,” the 38-year-old actress recalled.

Also, we would be remiss if we need mention Se Ri’s fashion throughout the series. Whether as the boss lady or in a casual ensemble, girlfriend here was always looking chic from head to toe.

One particular line stuck with Kim Jung Hyun (김정현). It was when Ri Jung Hyuk uttered the words “I looked everywhere for so long” to Yoon Se Ri in episode 11 when he had just arrived in Seoul. Kim Jung Hyun explained, “I think it was the most fantastical line in our drama. It remained in my memory because it brought out lots of emotions.”

The whole experience has left a huge impact on the 30-year-old star, who expressed, “I have met new people and formed new relationships in every project, but this project is even more meaningful. Through the love (I received), I reflected on myself and found hope. To the viewers who accompanied us on the 16-episode journey, I would like to thank you for sharing your time with us.”

Last but not last is Seo Ji Hye (서지혜). The mother-daughter relationship between Seo Dan and Go Myung Eun (played by “Parasite” actress Jang Hye Jin) was unique to her. In episode 8, viewers got to see the dynamic duo’s heart-to-heart talk when Go Myung Eun admitted that she was worried for Seo Dan’s well-being.

The 35-year-old South Korean star added, “I had to go to a lot of places while acting as Seo Dan. Even though we had to film while battling against the cold, I felt healed when I saw the starry night sky, and those moments have all become memories. I was happy thanks to the interest and love shown by our viewers.”

Many fans were heartbroken over the tragedy over Seo Dan’s love life. But we also saw her emerging stronger than ever. Her character is an example that independent women can kick ass too!

There’s no doubt that “Crash Landing On You” will be lingering on for awhile before we can move on.

In reality, the 32-year-old currently serves as a pilot for a private airline.

Sources close to the “Ajari Playboy Itu” actress also spilled that the two met for a really short time before deciding on settling down. Unfortunately, details of the upcoming ceremony were not further disclosed as requested by Emma’s family members.

So far, Emma has yet to give any confirmation regarding the matter. Busy with her preparations to walk down the aisle, perhaps?

Ronan Keating is having another baby y’all! The 43-year-old actor shared the happy news with OK! magazine.

“Yes, we’re having a baby girl! It’s super exciting. We are very lucky and I am so happy for Storm’,” the Boyzone frontman said, referring to his 38-year-old Australian designer Storm Keating (real name Sharyn Storm Uechtritz).

This will be the couple’s second child together after 2-year-old son Cooper. “I’ve always wanted at least one of each sex so I’m feeling very blessed. That’s five kids in total now, so that’s enough, we’re going to have to get Ro to have the snip,” Storm joked, saying that Ronan might need to get a vasectomy.

In case you didn’t know, the Irish singer-songwriter already has 3 other children with ex-wife Yvonne Connolly. They include son Jack, 20, and daughters Missy, 18, and Ali, 14. Ronan and Storm welcomed Cooper in April 2017, 2 years after they walked down the aisle in Scotland.

“I secretly hoped for a girl the first time, but then Cooper turned out to be such a little legend that, going into this one, I was like, ‘I could easily have another boy’. They’re so easy. We’re a little anxious about having a girl and the different dynamic that might bring,” Storm told the publication.

“People say that girls can be trickier. With Cooper being such a dream we’re scared we can’t get that lucky twice,” the pop star added. Both Ronan and his beau have already picked out a non-traditional name for the toddler.

Liang Sandwich Bar made its debut in Singapore in July 2018 and has been expanding over the past few years.

However, several Singapore publications have announce that the franchise recently shut down all of its stores in the country. No reason was given for the sudden closure though.

As you may know, the scallion pancake brand is famously endorsed by Mandopop superstar Jay Chou. The menu was inspired by many of his album titles and song lyrics. Liang Sandwich Bar is best known for the fried scallion pancake folded in half like a taco that comes with a variety of fillings such as chicken patty, chicken bolognese, cheese, egg tuna mayo and more.

Mothership noted that although Liang Sandwich Bar’s social media accounts are still running, they haven’t been updated since last year! Their last posts on Facebook and Instagram featured a Halloween-themed sandwich that was uploaded on 31st October 2019.

Fingers crossed the franchise in Malaysia won’t suffer the same fate.

Ashraf shared that he underwent a treatment that combined with an exercise routine where one can do up to 20,000 sit-ups in a span of 30 minutes! He further added that the therapy is a must in order to burn unwanted fats in stomach.

As aforementioned, fans have began coming out with their own speculations that led to the 40-year-old’s untimely death. In this case, most of them have blamed the treatment as the main cause to his passing. They further argued that the regime was too extreme for Ashraf’s heart to handle; hence his sudden heart failure.

The “Gol & Gincu” actor’s body has been temporarily laid to rest at a funeral home in Petajen Barat, South Jakarta. The funeral will be held at San Diego Hills, Karawang, West Java, Indonesia right after Asar (afternoon) prayer.

Based on several photos and clips shared by various news outlets across the region, family members as well as several celebrities and close friends of both Ashraf and his wife Bunga Citra Lestari came to the house to pay their condolences. In addition, yellow flags were raised and placed on every corner of the building to symbolise the unfortunate event.

Since Ashraf Sinclair is married to singer Bunga Citra Lestari, it’s no surprise that the spotlight is on her following the sudden death of her late husband.

Refusing to give further statement to the press, the “Aku Dan Dirimu” songstress admitted that she’s still shocked at what happened. However, she assured that she’s trying to cope with the situation as best as she can.

According to Tribun News, Bunga had been craving for instant noodles after returning from work (she’s a judge on “Indonesian Idol”) the night before. After cleaning washing her face, she proceed to wake her husband up – but to no avail. Ashraf was soon rushed to the hospital.

“I’m still trying to accept the reality. To all our friends (who came to the funeral), thank you. I hope things will get better soon,” Bunga – known as BCL in short – was quoted as saying. For those who don’t know, Ashraf’s body was safely buried yesterday (Tuesday, 18th February) afternoon at San Diego Hills in Kawarang, West Java.

Additionally, it’s revealed by San Diego Hills CEO Suziani Japardy that BCL didn’t only booked a graveyard solely for Ashraf, but she also reserved one for herself as well. “Yes, it’s true. BCL wants to be next to her husband. That was planned by her,” Suziani told detik.com.

Suziani added that the two exclusive reservations were made through her manager Doddy with a price of Rp260mil (RM75k) for 2. “She doesn’t want to be single. I was informed by her manager that she wants to be located right beside her husband,” said Suziani.

Many have since pointed that the development of the site is best described as a symbol of BCL’s undying love for her deceased beau. We couldn’t agree more.

This is exciting news for fans of Twins as Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍) and Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) are set to reunite onscreen after almost a decade.

Word on the street has it that the Hong Kong Cantopop duo will be starring alongside each other in the upcoming new forensic web drama titled, “Female Forensic Scientist JD” (女法醫JD).

The 12-episode series follows a team of forensics as they solve crimes in a fictional city. Production has already kicked off earlier this month. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, quarantine orders or restrictions have been imposed on those travelling from China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Since Malaysia hasn’t imposed such restrictions, the cast and crew will proceed to Southeast Asia for filming as planned. A huge chunk of filming is expected to take place at a local hospital in Selangor. From what we understand, only the production teams outside of Mainland China will be flying in to Kuala Lumpur.

Both Charlene and Gillian will be joined by Michael Tao (陶大宇), Joseph Chang (張孝全), Kenny Kwan (關智斌), Carlos Chan (陳家樂) and Jeana Ho (何珮瑜). Charlene and Michael will be portraying a father-daughter forensic pathologists.

It’s revealed that the MIX fm announcer was informed about the shocking news 10 minutes before she went on air. As a result, Aishah – along with her parents – had to book the earliest flight tickets to Jakarta.

Soon after his funeral took place, the 39-year-old took to her Instagram, thanking everyone “who reached out, called, and flew all the way (to Indonesia).” Aishah added, “This has been one of the toughest days my family has ever gone through, your love and support means a lot to us.” She further expressed her gratitude knowing that her elder brother had received tremendous loves from everyone.

One of Ashraf’s closest friends in the entertainment scene, Sazzy Falak also came down to the neighbouring country to bid her last farewell to her “Gol & Gincu” co-star. The actress-TV host posted a series of heartfelt statements on her Instagram Stories, recalling on the time when she visited Ashraf in Jakarta last year to the moment when she first received the unfortunate news.

Other celebrities who had the honour to work with Ashraf in the past – namely Zul Ariffin and Fazura – also took to their official social media accounts to pay their tributes to the Malaysian-British figure. Zul first met Ashraf back in 2004 for a commercial ad shoot. On the other hand, the award-winning actress starred together with Ashraf and Sazzy in “Gol & Gincu”.

The minute I got the news from Indonesia this morning, I immediately thought it was a hoax. No way I thought. Then, I was told it was confirmed by Doddy (Bunga’s manager). I sat down in disbelief with tears and all the memories of Ash came flashing by my eyes. Ash, It took me the entire day to digest the fact that you’re gone. It still doesn’t seem real. But I want to put my feelings out there because u mean so much to me. We grew up together in the early days of our career. Those many years and late nights of filming “Gol dan Gincu” has turn us all into a family. Ashraf was not only a co-star, the guy that changed Putri’s life from a cheerleader to a striker – but most importantly he was such a dear friend and brother who always wanted to protect me, cheering for me to succeed in life and be happy. We even became business partners for awhile when he then met the love of his life and decided to get married. I’ll never forget the light in his eyes when he spoke Bunga, how he was so in love and his excitement to propose. Ashraf was truly a person with pure heart of gold who only had empathy for others with immense positivity that would light up the whole room. Remembering him as someone who loved to laugh, loves his family, friends, his work, helping others and making people happy. And for that, I will miss him and our conversations dearly. I am forever grateful for our friendship and the fact that you managed to see get married. My heart bleeds for Bunga, Noah, Pak Mat, Ummi, Adam, Aisyah, Yuna and the entire family. My pain is only a fraction compared to what each of them are going through – especially Bunga. The memories of you two loving each other just makes me cry. Ben Affleck is coming clean about one thing – the reason for his surprising departure from the DC Extended Universe in early 2019.

The 47-year-old actor admitted that it wasn’t the script, like he said before (in his own words, he “couldn’t crack it”), but because he had his own personal demons to deal with.

Many felt the Zack Snyder phase of DCEU – namely “Batman V Superman” and “Justice League” – was a hot mess. Despite critics shredding those superhero flicks to bits, Affleck was praised for his portrayal as the caped crusader. He had even signed on to write and direct “The Batman”.

Ultimately, it was a combination of things that resulted in him abandoning the role of Bruce Wayne – alcoholism, divorce from then-wife Jennifer Garner, poor critical reviews, and disappointing box office receipts.

In speaking with The New York Times, the actor recalled, “I showed somebody The Batman script. They said, ‘I think the script is good. I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went through again’.”

So while the quality of the previous script for “The Batman” wasn’t the issue, his personal well-being was hanging by a thread. Rather than risk falling into a deeper dark hole, the Oscar winner decided to call it a day as Batman instead of reprising the role for the 4th time.

The superhero eventually went to Robert Pattinson (going from vampire to bat).

Oksana Voevodina may be leaving her Muslim name Rihana behind, but she’s not done spilling more secrets about her short-lived marriage with Sultan Muhammad V. So what was the straw that broke the camel’s back?

The new mum recently made an appearance on a Russian TV where she recalled an awkward episode with the ex-King’s previous wife 2 days after they tied the knot. After staying tight-lipped on the situation, Oksana is finally revealing more.

The former Agong – also known as Faris – initially wanted their Islamic wedding (in June 2018) and Russian ceremony (November 2018) to kept a secret. However, the nuptials details eventually leaked out. The 28-year-old singled out the day that changed everything.

“Two days later occurred the moment which changed everything. My husband was in the bathroom. His phone rang, displaying the name Bob. I was sure it was his mate or his American friend who wanted to congratulate us on the wedding. I picked up the phone and heard an hysterical female voice yelling at me: ‘I am his wife. And never dare to pick up the phone of my husband’,” Oksana recalled.

The Russian beauty revealed that the woman on the other end of the phone was a Czech woman who identified by her Muslim, Diana Petra. “Faris came out of the bathroom and I asked what was going on. He took the phone and went into another room. He came back after a while and told me it’s his former wife who didn’t know about me and got upset,” she continued.

“He also said there some questions between them about property were not sorted out yet,” Oksana added, before revealing, “Faris told me I was the only wife. And my wedding certificate was given to the first and the only wife.” Apparently, Diana even contacted Oksana’s father Andrey Gorbatenko, claiming that she was still married to Faris.

Oksana also confessed that the revelations of her stint in a 2013 TV reality show was also another huge factor for the divorce. The news of her having sex with a male actor in a Mexican swimming pool went viral online not long after her marriage to Sultan Muhammad V was exposed.

The former Agong stepped down from his throne in January 2019. 5 months later, he ended his marriage to Oksana using the harshest form of Islamic divorce – Triple Talak. The model insists she found out about it from the internet.

Despite revealing her son Ismail Leon‘s face to the world, the former monarch has denied that the child is his and refused a paternity test.
