Ronan Keating is set to serenade music lovers next week during Valentine’s Day. The one-night only occasion, titled “Love At 6118”, is set to take place at Resorts World Genting.
“The thing that stands out from my last visit at Resorts World Genting was the clouds that came into the hotel reception on the morning we left, as it’s so high up there. It was the coolest thing to see!” said the 42-year-old singer during a recent interview.

What a relief! A Health Ministry official announced last night that the first patient in Malaysia has been cured from coronavirus.
The person in question is a 4-year-old girl (pictured right) from China, who was admitted to the Sultanah Maliha Hospital in Langkawi after she was tested positive for coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Health Ministry director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah stated, “The results of the 2019-nCoV detection test conducted twice on the patient turned out negative (of the novel coronavirus). She is now in good health and allowed to leave (discharged from the hospital).”
“This showed that the 2019-nCoV infection is treatable and that patient can fully recover, similar to many other cases that have been reported in China. Perception among the public that the 2019-nCoV is fatal (could not be treated) after one has been infected by the virus is certainly wrong,” Dr Noor Hisham added.

Oh no! 2 Malaysians who just returned from Wuhan on a special flight have been tested for coronavirus. The victims are a 45-year-old man and his 9-year-old son. This brings Malaysia to 12 confirmed cases.
The issue involving Nur Sajat dressing as a woman and mingling with other female pilgrims while performing her umrah has caused a massive commotion over the past few days.
In fact, a lot of people have been expressing their disappointment over the fact that she’s disrespecting the religion and argued that her actions are against Muslim teachings. Even Haneesya Hanee felt the same way.

The 20-year-old reacted after Nalisa Alia Amin took to her Twitter to share her opinion about the drama surrounding Sajat. She tweeted, “The amount of hate and transphobic comments Sajat received because she’s on her umrah right now is nasty. What kind of religious faith that they believe on to say such things?”
She continued by questioning, “I thought Mecca accepts all Muslims. What makes them think they have the authorisation on whether Sajat can perform her umrah? God appointed them to be the gatekeepers ah?” However, the tweet has been removed by her as at time of writing.
Refusing to stay silent, Haneesya responded by tweeting, “I think people are just concerned that he’s a male. Normally, people in the mosque will not mix between men and women because they’re not considered as mahram (family members).”
She further added by assuring netizens that she doesn’t hate Sajat. She just felt that the matter of religion is not something that can be taken lightly. Haneesya’s tweet has in turn received a number of mixed reactions from local netizens.
In response, the “Cik Reen Encik Ngok Ngek” actress came up with a series of statements on Twitter to clarify the situation. She opened the thread by addressing the misunderstandings between her and Nalisa. Haneesya said she tried to explain that what Sajat did is still wrong according to Islamic law.
She further added by addressing the confrontation between her and a netizen who accused her of being a transphobic. According to Haneesya, she is okay with people criticising her. However, she admitted her mistake of referring to Sajat as a “he” and didn’t meant to be disrespectful.
Meanwhile, local rapper Caprice has also voiced out his opinion about the ongoing controversy. He shared a clip on his Instagram showing a screenshot of actor Fizz Fairuz’s post on social media that reads, “Breaking news: Muhammad Sajjad has been arrested at Airport Jeddah”, much to the “Baby Sayang” hit maker’s dismay.
“Why bother with Sajat’s arrest issue in Saudi Arabia?” Caprice said in the clip, before adding, “Brother Sajat has been wearing female clothes in Malaysia for a long time.” He continued by saying, “If this issue is considered a defamation of the Islamic image, why there has been no action taken against him in all this time?” He concluded by reassuring that no matter where we are, God’s rules and laws are still the same.

Cleopatra (real name Nur Fathiah Syazwana Shahruddin) has received another round of criticism from local netizens this week.
The young director of Cleo International firm posted a couple of short clips of herself donning a baju kebaya during her visit to a ministry office on Monday (3rd February). “They told me I can’t wear kebaya in Ministry. Let’s just wear it,” she wrote on the caption.
Though she didn’t specifically mention which ministry she referred to, a number of Twitter users online have criticised her choice of outfit. Most of them felt that she had violated the standardised dress code, despite being informed earlier. Others also questioned her real motive of wearing such “suggestive” clothing.
Not only that, other eagle-eyed trolls also pointed that the clip only put focus on her breasts instead of the whole head-to-toe look. Some even left degrading comments saying she wanted to show off her boobs.

As a result, Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily reported that Heavenly King had to suffer around RM26.5 million of loses that include venue rental, concert production and refund of tickets.

After having to call off shows at the Hongkong Coliseum, Andy was again, forced to cancel 12 of his upcoming February gigs at the same venue. The concert organisers released a statement explaining that this was “to prevent the spread of the virus in such a crowded location” while also protecting the health and safety of concert-goers as well as performers.
The 58-year-old superstar had reportedly fork out HK$10 million (RM5.3 million) from his pocket to fund his now-scrapped Coliseum replacement shows. Andy was also expected to perform in Shanghai in March, Guangzhou in April, and Beijing in May. All those concert dates had sold out.

An insider told Lowyat.net that the theatre chain failed to reach a new agreement with Pavilion KL. As such another cinema chain from China will replacing the GSC Pavilion branch.

By now, you probably would’ve heard that GSC (Golden Screen Cinemas) will cease operation in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 17th February 2020 onwards.
This will mark the end of GSC Pavilion KL‘s 12-year run ever since it debuted back in 2007. Filling in the void will be Dadi Theater Circuit (大地院线) – a China-based cinema chain.

The statement from Pavilion KL reads:
“With the recent announcement by GSC Cinemas that they will cease operation in Pavilion KL on 17 February 2020, we would like to assure our shoppers of our commitment in delivering the latest and innovative experiences within the mall.
A new international operator, Dadi Cinema will be making its debut in Malaysia at Pavilion KL. Scheduled to open in Q3 2020, Dadi Cinema will bring a fully immersive and premium cinematic experience to our moviegoers. This is in line with Pavilion KL’s effort to continuously bring innovative retail and entertainment brands to the Malaysian market. Thank you.”
GSC also released a statement, informing movie-goers that “our cinema will remain fully operational until our last day of business, which will be on Feb 16, 2020 (Sunday)“. The company also suggested that audiences can always visit nearby cinemas in Berjaya Times Square, Quill City Mall and MyTown in Cheras.
Naturally, people are curious about the space left by GSC Pavilion. Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust asset manager (retail) Datuk Joyce Yap told The Edge Markets that Dadi Theater Circuit (or Dadi Cinema) is expected to make its Malaysian debut at Pavilion KL in May 2021.

“The news about our disbandment is not true at all! It’s quite impossible for us to part our ways since have known each other for quite a long time. Despite the rumours, we are sticking together as a team, despite ongoing struggles and misfortune happening,” he told mStar.
“Maybe people assumed we had split because we were collaborating with other artistes. Let me clarify the situation, members of K-Clique are free to work with any singers as they wish,” MK (real name Muhammad Hairi Amin) added in the chat.
The Tawau-born entertainer concluded by assuring that he’s been taking things positively when it comes to everyone’s dividing views on the “Sah Tu Satu” jam makers. “I never take things to heart when it comes to netizens voicing their opinions. The most important thing is that K-Clique will never ever split,” said the 28-year-old singer-songwriter.

Love triangles are complicated in and of itself, but what happens when you add in another layer of complication with Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Enters “My Holo Love” (나 홀로 그대).
Netflix’s latest Kdrama is described as “a heartwarming love story of the loneliest people in today’s society”. Yoon Hyun-min (윤현민) and Ko Sung-hee (고성희) star opposite each other in this series, alongside Choi Yeo-jin (최여진) and Hwang Chan-seong (황찬성).
1. The storyline for “My Holo Love”
“Suffering from face blindness, a lonely woman isolates herself from other people. If there was one unchanging face in her life, could she warm up to the world outside? One day, destiny finally sends her someone she is able to recognise. While he always supports and helps her, she can’t even touch his hands.
Here’s a man whose superb intelligence enables him to do anything. An AI-powered hologram, ‘Holo’; is capable of averting any danger, has limitless intelligence, and he is especially kind. Holo is a perfect being who shows up and makes her smile anytime, anywhere So-yeon needs him. But there is one thing he cannot do – he is unable to hold her in his arms.
A man named Nan-do moves in next door to So-yeon. He is Holo’s creator, but he is neither as kind, nor as warm as his creation. Nan-do watches Holo, created in his exact likeness, and So-yeon, who happens to be Holo’s beta tester. One day, Nan-do, who had lived like a ghost escaping the memories of his past, makes up his mind to go back out into the world.
These three whose paths are so suddenly entangled have one thing in common: they are all lonely and imperfect. My Holo Love begins with So-yeon’s isolated routine, always keeping her distance from the world. The story expands with the introduction of Holo who, through his encounters with So-yeon, gradually realises his limitations; and Nan-do, who begins to develop new feelings through the two. The show is an intriguing, exhilarating and emotional depiction of three people – each overcoming their unique insecurities and loneliness to grow together.”
2. How the idea for “My Holo Love” came about
The idea for “My Holo Love” came about during a conversation between director Lee and writer Ryu after watching the movie “Her”, which revolves around an AI’s ability to learn and adapt. Months later, Ryu created a unique story about a hologram called Holo.
“A few years ago at a small bar, I had a conversation with writer Ryu Yong-jae about the film ‘Her’. Then, too occupied with another project, I’d forgotten about our conversation until several months later when Ryu showed up with a story about Holo. Reading the script, I thought, ‘This is it!’; I immediately knew I wanted to tell that story. It dealt with the fundamental question about the role of technology: Beyond simply making human lives more convenient, what will technology ultimately bring to our seemingly glamorous but alienated lives, and to our fertile yet desolate minds? It was an intriguing story that had to be told to call our collective attention to the topic,” recalled Lee.
3. Is the show’s central focus on AI?
The short answer is no.
Although AI is a unique theme in the storyline, “My Holo Love” is ultimately about people – particularly lonely people. “‘My Holo Love’ even deals with fundamental questions about the role of technology: Beyond simply making human lives more convenient, what will these technologies ultimately bring to our seemingly glamorous but alienated lives and our fertile but desolate minds? It was an intriguing story that had to be told to call our collective attention to the topic,” said the filmmaker.
4. About Holo
Holo is derived from hologram. Plus, “holo” also sounds similar to “alone” in Korean. In this setting, one can only see Holo wearing special glasses. Think of him like a special friend who only watches and listens to the user.
Since Holo is not meant to be a mere symbol of future technologies in the show, Lee wanted the AI to be an independent being and not be confined to holographic lenses. With that in mind, the director several versions of Holo – changing visually depending on by whom Holo is viewed, and which world he views.
“Holo’s primary visual based on So-yeon’s point of view. If you look closer, he is a hologram, but at a glance, he looks exactly like a human. From So-yeon’s perspectives, Holo is as good as a human. From the third-person omniscient viewpoint, however, Holo is described with a subtle blurring of colors, lower saturation, brightness modifications and digital textures. His holographic property emerges clearly when an object passes through him or he comes under bright lights. The image of the world from Holo’s viewpoint was created as well. Depending on the nature of the scene, the world he sees is expressed with blurred images as if created by digital technology or simply with a flow of digital codes,” the director explained.
5. This drama combines technologies with sensibilities unique to Korean culture
“I tried to incorporate futuristic human senses and interactions into the framework of a Korean-style romantic drama. When it came to art, computer graphics, and visuals, we strived to make them as realistic as possible, and we present Holo in a way that fits each setting. A specific structure was maintained in the story-building where characters are introduced to the show in a sequence by trivial events and then build and expand relationships. Also, I tried to express changes in the perspectives of the story. It begins with So-yeon’s point of view, which develops into Holo’s perception of the world. It then moves to the perspective of Nan-do observing these two, and then finally zooms out to an omniscient viewpoint,” Lee added.
6. Why the director went with Yoon Hyun-min and Ko Sung-hee as the main leads
“While Yoon crafts a character by expressing nuanced emotions elaborately, Ko comfortably goes with the flow rather naturally. Their opposite acting styles unexpectedly create an interesting tension that builds into a good chemistry,” said Lee, before claiming that the pair have a perfect dynamic between each other.
7. Yoon Hyun-min on playing dual roles who are very much different
In his first ever dual role, Yoon plays AI-powered Holo and his genius developer Nan-do – they are identical in appearance but have different personalities. To differentiate the two, the 34-year-old actor would modulated his speech speed and style, body movement patterns, and even his physical reactions to express a variation of nuances. While Holo is “very kind, caring, and warmhearted”, Nan-do is “a sharp and cold person who isolates himself” from everyone else.
“Because Holo was a character that continues to grow through each episode, calculative acting seemed unnecessary. Nan-do is a lonely person who isolates himself from the world, but, by meeting So-yeon, he begins to express feelings and emotions that he didn’t even realise existed. Playing Nan-do, I tried to express that aspect of his innocence. I would lose sleep at night, agonising over how to handle these two opposing characters. But now that the show is finally over after a six-month odyssey, I feel that I have grown a lot,” the South Korean star was quoted as saying.
8. The challenges of playing someone with facial blindness disorder
“So-yeon is a woman who suffers from a disorder of face blindness. On the outside, she’s a very successful career woman, but she’s keeping the secret of her disability from others. She always feels lonely, and people think she’s a very cold person,” Ko Sung-hee explained.
She continued, “At the beginning of the show where her disorder symptoms were displayed obviously, there weren’t many of these types of scenes in the script, and so it was tricky that I had to keep that in mind throughout. The way I truly wanted to portray So-yeon was that I wanted her to exude an aura of a coldhearted, successful career woman at work, but at home, I wanted her to be more relaxed and off-guard, like enjoying a drink by herself.”

Choi Yeo-jin portrays Yu-jin, Nan-do’s older sister and CEO of GIO Lab. She is deeply invested in the AI, Holo, and is also a protective sibling to her genius brother.
Hwang Chan-seong (from 2PM) plays an executive of GIO Lab’s competitor Magic Mirror. His character is always intimidated by Chairman Baek, his overbearing father. He approaches Yu-jin to obtain Holo, a technologically superior AI to his own company’s product.
10. Episodes and release date
“My Holo Love” is a single season series with 12 episodes. The new Kdrama will debut on Netflix on 7th February 2020.
