Kenneth Ma Couldn’t Purchase Any Face Masks While In Singapore

Kenneth Ma (馬國明) was recently in Singapore for a promotional event with his buddy Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健).

Since the coronavirus epidemic is at an all-time high, the TVB actor was asked about his mission to purchase more face masks during his work trip in the Lion City.

Source: MingPao

Unfortunately his mission failed. “They were all sold out,” he explained. “I heard that Singapore is a hot place, so the flu is not as serious here and there aren’t a lot of masks in stock.” Although Kenneth hasn’t been too paranoid, the 45-year-old actor has been paying more attention to his hygiene.

I actually had another show in Huizhou that has been cancelled, but the organiser for this Singapore show said nothing about cancelling. Since I have already accepted the job, I would do it. Singapore should be safe,” he previously told reporters.

Source: Yahoo

Despite not being able to stock up on face masks to bring home, the Hong Kong star enjoyed his reunion with Ekin. If you’ve been to Kenneth’s shows in the past, then it’s probably no secret that he enjoys performing cover versions of Ekin’s songs.

Everyone knows I like to sing his songs because I think they sound good. I watched a lot of his ‘Young and Dangerous’ (古惑仔) movies back then, so I’m familiar with a lot of those songs,” Kenneth said. “But I didn’t sing his songs this time since we’re at the same event. To be on the same stage with Ekin already makes me happy.”

Source: HK01

So what’s next for Kenneth? The current plan is to start filming for TVB drama “Who Wants a Baby 2” (BB來了2) but he isn’t sure if it might be postponed due to the severity of the coronavirus.

To ensure health and safety precautions, TVB has been carrying out screening procedures for symptoms of coronavirus infection.

Calling all sweet toothed foodies, the all-new Black Hojicha flavoured Cornetto ice cream from Walls is now available in Malaysia!

The news was made viral by a local netizen known as @WahyuYordan, who took to Twitter saying that there’s a new ice cream flavour by the popular dessert brand in town.

Source: Twitter

Yes, you heard that right. As all fans know, the dark and gothic Japanese tea-flavoured treat was only available at selected stores in neighbouring countries like Indonesia and Thailand.

Though we haven’t tried the ice cream yet, word has it that inside the creamy grey-coloured treat, there’s flowing molten chocolate lava (as seen in the image above), which adds in kick in the flavour. Not only that, there are scrumptious chocolate balls placed on top of the sweet delicacy, which you can enjoy it with the black charcoal wafer cone.

However, a number of netizens have been giving mixed feedback towards the taste of the ice cream. A Twitter user named @sri_thesigan claimed that the ice cream “tastes nothing”, pointing out its bland savour.

Source: Facebook

We’ll definitely try firsthand and see whether this new Cornetto suits our tastebud or not.

Are Hollywood celebrities trying to outdo each other in how fast they can get out of a marriage?

The latest couple under the spotlight is Pamela Anderson and Jon Peters, who have split up less than 2 weeks after their secretive wedding in Malibu, California.

Source: Metro UK

The 52-year-old blonde bombshell released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. It reads:

I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union. We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another. Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalisation of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”

Many are surprised by the abrupt break up, considering Anderson posted a loving shot of herself and Peters on her Instagram Stories just days before. Last weekend, she was spotted getting on a plane to her native Canada.

Popular celebrity-entrepreneur Nur Sajat recently caused yet another stir after photos of her performing umrah with her family and friends made its way online.

During her stay at the sacred town of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, she was seen completely covered in loose clothing complete with hijab, and not in an ihram (as male Muslims are supposed to). The post has in turn received widespread reactions among local netizens.

In this case, a number of enraged fans are questioning Sajat’s decision to travel to a holy place as a woman. Additionally, they claimed that the 36-year-old transsexual figure is making fun of the religion and demand that the authorities make a thorough investigation on this case.

Not only that, a lot of them have also tried their best to find proof that the “Makhluk Penggoda” singer was indeed born as a man, and not a female. Soon after, a picture of her clad in a male robe while waiting for her flight went viral. Photo of her alleged driving license also started circulating online!

On the contrary, a few Twitter users online have left supportive remarks, with most of them demanding to put a stop to all the criticisms and backlash. They pointed out that all her deeds and sins are between her and God. It is not anyone’s place to judge.

Check out the leaked photos as well as netizens’ reactions on Twitter.

Besides Coronavirus, There’s Now H5N1 Bird Flu Outbreak In China

As if the rapid spread of coronavirus isn’t scary enough, there’s now an outbreak of H5N1 bird flu in Hunan, China.

Reuters reported that out of 7850 chickens, 4500 of them have died of bird flu. The World Health Organization (WHO) website states that although H5N1 “causes a highly infectious, severe respiratory disease in birds”, transmission between people is unlikely.

Source: Strait Times

Still there are rare cases that H5N1 can still spread to humans. Back in 2003, the H5N1 avian flu took 455 human lives worldwide. That being said, those who catch this type of flu usually “have close contact with infected birds or contaminated areas”.

What does this mean for Malaysia?

Deputy minister Sim Tze Tzin has assured the public that the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis) has things under control through their regular inspections of poultry from China.

There is no need to panic. In terms of poultry, we are 103% self-sustainable in the country. We only import a small portion of processed chicken from China,” Sim was quoted as saying.

For those who don’t know, Azwan Ali is well-known among local fans for his foul-mouthed and snobbish trait.

Recently, the actor-TV host took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction towards Dato’ Seri Vida, claiming that he’s yet to receive any payment from her following his appearance at an event. He even mocked the passing of the Qu Puteh owner’s 2 children by burning the perfume given by her.

Disappointed and frustrated with Azwan’s actions, Dato’ Vida responded by uploading a 5-minute and 30-second clip on her Instagram. She expressed her shock and upset over the former “Masterchef Malaysia” contestant for making unnecessary fuss about her personal life and bringing up her children’s death. The video also featured her foster son, Kacak.

“He uttered out his anger by linking it with my children who have died because of the fire tragedy. I feel so stressed that I have trouble falling asleep. If they’re still alive, at least I still can ask for their apologies,” she told Kacak (real name Muhammad Eric Zacquan) in the clip. Watch the full video here:

While Ah In’s update has been showered with numerous appraisals from his 1.6 million followers, Hye Kyo’s post has in turn further enraged Chinese netizens. In this case, the “That Winter, The Wind Blows” actress has been slammed for her failed attempt in donating funds to fight against the outbreak.

Soon after, Hye Kyo became one of the trending topics on Weibo. Many netizens have continued to criticise her online, as reported by Oriental Daily. Some of the highlighted comments include:

  • “Encouraging Wuhan will not ease the epidemic.”
  • “This also can be trending? Have you donated.”
  • “What is it (about your post) that’s so touching?”
  • “One message can win goodwill and continue to earn money, it is easy for her to earn Chinese money.”

In response to the ongoing backlash, Hye Kyo has disabled her comments section, presumably to avoid from being further slammed by Chinese internet trolls.

Kumail Nanjiani’s new year has kicked off on a good note.

The Marvel star recently broke the internet when he debuted his newfound muscular physique. The “Eternals” actor was so popular that even Pornhub wanted in on the action.

Thanks to his impressive newfound musclebound, the porn site used Kumail’s photo as the featured image in the “Muscular Men” category. Of course, the 42-year-old comedian took notice of it and even posted the sceenshot (pictured above) on his Instagram account.

Pornhub ended up gifting him with a decade worth of premium membership. “They gave me a 10-year free subscription to Pornhub Premium. I will say, because people are like, ‘Why do you need to pay for porn?’ — and I don’t, I do not work for Pornhub, they have not paid me to say this — you have access to a whole new world. Free porn is good but when you go to Premium… I could develop fetishes, crazy ones over the next 10 years and I know I’ll be taken care of,” the actor told Conan O’Brien.

The lesson of the day? As someone said, “if you are a regular famous person and you become a jacked famous person, good things will happen“.

Production for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is well underway, but details have mostly been kept under wraps.

However, someone recently spotted Tony Leung Chiu-wai (梁朝偉) in Australia for the shooting of Marvel’s first Asian superhero film. In case you didn’t know, Tony has been cast to play main villain The Mandarin.

Although the 57-year-old actor wasn’t not seen with main star Simu Liu (劉思慕) or Awkwafina, onlookers noticed that he was accompanied by 3 other female companions at Golden Century Seafood Restaurant in Sydney. They apparently ordered a whole bunch dim sum dishes.

Wife Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) wasn’t with Tony at the Chinese restaurant, but the actress took to her Instagram to post some scenic pictures from her trip around Sydney – they include the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. As Tony’s manager, Carina is in charge of overseeing her hubby’s day-to-day operations.

Dr. Mujahid Yusof Rawa has revealed that there’s no scientific proof that shows Nur Sajat was born a hermaphrodite (the condition of having both male and female reproductive organs).

The statement by the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department came in light of the recent controversy involving the 36-year-old transsexual entrepreneur.

Source: MMO

According to Dr. Mujahid, it is Sajat’s duty to perform the umrah in accordance with the provisions of the muzakarah (discussions) rulings on issues surrounding the pilgrimage or umrah performed by the mukhannas (transvestite) group.

“We adhere to the ruling that obviously states that without any clear evidence, he will remain as a male. Therefore, all the laws applied will be the same for everyone who performed the umrah and hajj,” he told Awani.

Source: Cempedak Cheese

Dr. Mujahid had a meeting with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) as well as Albayt Travel (M) Sdn. Bhd. yesterday (Monday, 3rd February) to discuss about the recent issue involving Sajat (real name Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruzzaman).

“I will take strict action against Muhammad Sajjad who uploaded several clips and photos of him performing the worship in Mecca while dressing up as a female. The issue has caused major discomfort among Muslims after the posts went viral. Immediate measures will be taken by MCMC,” Dr. Mujahid further added in the session.

Dr. Mujahid also explained that his meeting with the MCMC was done because they have the power to block any social media that shows content that might bring uneasiness and discomfort among Muslims. On the other hand, the meeting with Albayt Travel – Sajat’s travelling agency – was also conducted in order to find out the real situation in Mecca.

Tony Fernandes & Kamarudin Relinquish Executive Roles In AirAsia

AirAsia Group Bhd executive chairman Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes have relinquish their executive roles with immediate effect since yesterday (Monday, 3rd February).

The duo, who collectively hold 32.1% stake in the company, are facing allegations that they had received a US$50 million (RM205 million) bribe from aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

Source: Malay Mail

In the interim of at least 2 months, deputy group CEO (airlines) Tharumalingam Kanagalingam has appointed to step in as acting CEO. The Edge reported that “the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) has become the third authority in Malaysia to launch a probe on the executives at the two airlines” – namely AirAsia and its sister company AirAsia X Bhd (AAX).

As aforementioned, word on street has it that Airbus had bribed the two executives in order “to secure lucrative contracts to supply aircraft to the Southeast Asian budget carriers”. In exchange, a sponsorship of US$50 million was intended for the pair’s owned sports team. As per Reuters, the sports team in question is the Caterham F1 racing team.

Source: Google Images

Kamarudin and Tony have released a joint statement that reads:

We refer to the press announcement made by AirAsia on 01 Feb 2020 in relation to allegations made against us in the “Airbus’ Deferred Prosecution Agreement”. This Agreement and the contents were arrived at without any reference to us; neither were any explanations sought from us. This is in clear violation of fundamental legal principles of fairness.

We categorically deny any and all allegations of wrongdoing or misconduct on our part as directors of AirAsia. We would not harm the very companies that we spent our entire lives building up to their present global status.

So as to facilitate a full and independent investigation by AirAsia, we are relinquishing our executive roles with immediate effect for a period of two months, or such other period that the companies may deem fit.

We will nonetheless continue to assist AirAsia in an advisory capacity as and when required. Finally, we welcome any investigations by the authorities and will extend our fullest cooperation.”

Movie’s biggest night – the Oscars – is set to take place on 9th February 2020.

But prior to the award ceremony, it appears that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tweeted out their prediction. Titled “My Oscar Predictions”, it’s actually a predictions app (as oppose to some assumptions that the Academy’s social channels were hacked.

If you’ve been following the award season, a good number of categories are predictable. Unless an upset were to take place, Joaquin Phoenix, Renne Zellweger, Brad Pitt and Laura Dern are said to be shoe-ins for the acting categories.

As for the new category (well, in name at least), best foreign language film has been changed to best international feature film. All eyes are on Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” to take the golden statue home. It’s the first South Korean film nominated in this category, and it’ll most likely be the first to win.

“1917” is also another favourite expected to sweep some awards.

Burger King Tokyo Replaces Savage Message Towards McDonald’s

In case y’all missed it, McDonald’s branch in Akihabara, Tokyo had already closed its business last Friday (31st January). As pointed by Sora News 24, the case is rather unusual for a leading fast food franchise to shut down their operation.

For those who don’t know, Akihabara is known as the centre of electronic and anime goods for over 22 years. When this happened, it was speculated that McDonald’s might not be able to withstand the pressure of competing with rival franchise, Burger King, separated by just 2 stores away.

Source: Japan Today
Source: Japan Today

Burger King initially put up a sign thanking McDonald’s for satisfying customer’s hungry tummy for over 2 decades. However, it was reported that the notice contained a hidden snarky text to celebrate the downfall of its arch-enemy. If the sign is read in reverse, the text can be translated as “Victory Is Ours”.

Most recently, a local Twitter user pointed that the notice has been replaced with a new one. As seen in the image below, the latest poster shows a Burger King staff respectfully bowing, along with a message that reads:

“Thank you for 22 happy years. Us being next to each other, like steel sharpening steel, what we did was compete as good rivals and good friends. The end of that history is something that makes us incredibly sad. Up until now, you were an unchanging presence nearby [unreadable]. Thank you for 22 years of smiles! Good [unreadable], and we’ll keep doing our best again tomorrow.”

Unfortunately, a patch of lighting obscures a few words. However, observers pointed that there’s actually a hidden text behind the message! In this case, the 1st Japanese character reads, “Wasurenai yo”, which means, “We won’t forget you,” assuming it is interpreted in vertical order.

It can be argued that the message this time around is seen as a more proper sendoff to its rival. Despite being fast food competitors over the years, both of them have actually been supportive of each other.

In addition, the AirAsia AK8264 flight, which departed from the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, also carried 12 aircraft crews, 8 humanitarian personnels as well as 6 officers from the Malaysian embassy in Beijing.

The Health Ministry revealed earlier that all of the passengers, as well as the flight crews will undergo mandatory medical checkups at KLIA’s air disaster unit (ADU). Those who were affected with symptoms of coronavirus will be put to quarantine immediately. On the other hand, the rest will be sent to the monitoring centre for further examination.

However, it was recently revealed that a number of Malaysians who were supposed to join the flight have failed to do so due to logistic issues, as some of them were located outside of Wuhan. Additionally, a few of them have been facing with transportation difficulties. The initial number of 141 passengers on board was cut down to only 107.

So far, the number of cases recorded across China are as follows:

  • Mainland: 425 deaths, 20,438 infections and 23,214 suspected cases.
  • Hubei province: 414 deaths, 13,522 infections.
  • Zhejiang province: 1000 cases.
  • Shanghai: 200 cases.

In another news, Oriental Daily recently reported about a Chinese woman who managed to scare a thief away after she claimed that she was infected with coronavirus. The lady was sleeping in her bedroom when a masked man entered her house.

As he attempted to rape her, the woman started coughing and said, “I just came back from Wuhan and I already have symptoms of an infection. So I stayed home and isolated myself”. The shocked man then fled the scene with her handphone and 80 yuan (RM47) in hand.
