Bella Astillah has finally shed some light on the recent case involving her former husband, Aliff Aziz.

The Singaporean celebrity made headlines after a video of him in an altercation at a restaurant went viral. A day before the incident, Bella posted an ambiguous tweet that reads, “I was wondering, will I be happy?” further raising everyone’s speculations.

Aliff Aziz Tunjuk Kemaluan Di Tempat Awam

Alamak buat hal lagi! Berani ya?

Posted by Murai MY on Monday, January 13, 2020

Refusing to give any two cents regarding the recent issue involving Aliff, the “Cinta Belum Tamat Tempoh” actress took to Instagram to clarify the reason behind the posting she made. She posted a screenshot of an article made by a local entertainment portal along with a lengthy statement that reads:

“I didn’t give any statement regarding that matter or anything. But I’m still shocked after coming across this sort of writeup? I really hope that all the bloggers will be more careful after this.

That tweet was from a long time ago and y’all decide to use it as your headline??? I really hope the people at RotiKaya will understand. That’s just a tweet and you can check the date, it has nothing to do with any cases whatsoever.”

Prior to this, the couple hinted that they  may be getting back together when the 26-year-old singer posted a picture of her holding an arm of a man whom people believe to be Aliff’s. Not only that, the “Halalkan Hati Yang Ku Curi” actor uploaded a photo with a glimpse of Bella seated behind him, adding the fuel to everyone’s speculations.

For the uninitiated, Bella and Aliff tied the knot on 9th September 2016. Their marriage didn’t last long after the couple got divorced on 16th May 2019 following the latter’s involvement in a string of affairs with other woman.

Concert Review: WINNER Fans Surprised Yoon With Early Birthday Celebration During KL Show

Finally! We got the chance to experience K-pop quartet WINNER (위너)’s headlining “Cross World Tour” concert held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil over the weekend. Organised by iMe Media Group, this marked the group’s 2nd visit to our country following the success of their previous tour last year.

Local Inner Circles (WINNER’s fandom name) swarmed the concert venue as soon as the gate opened at 5pm. As they filled in the arena, the screen played a series of YG Entertainment group’s popular music videos – much to the delight of everyone.

Soon after, the lights were dimmed as the opening video was played on screen. The 4 members of the group – Yoon, Jinu, Mino and Hoony – made their much-anticipated appearance on the main stage in an all-white ensemble. Without wasting any time, they opened the show with “Everyday” and “Love Me Love Me”.

“Guess who’s back? We are WINNER!” The group addressed the crowd in their official greeting. As the representative of the group, leader Yoon shared to the crowd their  excitement in coming back to KL. Fellow members also took the chance to show off their Malay language skills, especially Hoony, who referred to himself as Abang Hoony. “Saya rindukan awak (I missed you),” the 28-year-old told the fans.

The members then invited Inner Circles to visit their “Island”. They also came forward to the centre part of the stage while performing the tropical beat song to interact more with the crowd. They then proceeded with their 2017 hit “Really Really”, taken from the group’s 1st single album called “Fate Number For”. The lights went off as the group made their exit off stage.

A special montage video soon popped up on the LED screen. The short movie-style video showed the members taking on the role of a secret agent, as if they were gearing up to carry out a mission. Interestingly, they also had their own codename – Yoon as Beer, Jinu as Whiskey, Mino as Liquor and Hoony as allergy. The comedic clip was good enough to heat up the fans’ mood before the next segment started.

It didn’t take long before the boys finally made it on stage for the next session. This time around, they surprised fans with a surprise setlist – a string of their signature fast and uptempo tracks, namely “Dress Up,” “Mola” and “Special Night”. Die-hard Inner Circles went bananas as they sang and dance along to the jams.

Moving on to the next part of their setlist, WINNER took to the main stage as they performed their more mellowed and laid back tunes. “We need to you to sing this together with us, KL,” Yoon was quoted as saying. The boys then mesmerised everyone with their flawless live vocals during their take on “Different”, “Have A Good Day” as well as “OMG” and “Raining”. The boys then took us back to 2014 with their chart-topping debut song “Empty”. And with that, the 2nd session had come to an end.

The appearance of Hoony on stage marked the beginning of the members’ solo stages. Decked in a Matador-inspired outfit, the rapper opened the session with a sizzling take on “Flamenco”. He then brushed off his Latino alter ego and proceeded with an energetic performance of “Serenade”, as he danced and sang his heart out to the fast-paced number. Next came Jinu, who appeared in the middle of the stage performing his solo song “Call Anytime”. With a special appearance from fellow member Mino, the two exchanged playful and cute interactions as the song went on, leaving the crowd in awe.

The spotlight then went to powerhouse vocalist Yoon, performing a song that was familiar with fans who have been following him since his first debuted in the industry – “Instinctively”. The song felt personal, as he revealed to the crowd that he actually came to Kuala Lumpur 10 years back to meet his first manager – who was in attendance. And the first ever song that he sang was “Instinctively”. He then continued with his next song “Wind”. Last but not least, Mino took the centre stage with his upbeat take on his own songs “I’m Him”, “Trigger” as well as the smash hit “Fiance”. The last 2 songs were taken from his debut studio album “XX” (2018).

The 4 of them finally reunited on stage following Mino’s impressive hip hop numbers, performing “Boom”. The groovy number is taken from their 2nd EP “We” (2019). Being a chatterbox that he usually is, Yoon then asked everyone to stomp their feet and clap their hands, as the boys performed their last song for the segment, “Movie Star”. They then waved goodbye as they exited the stage to prepare for the next stage.

The next VCR was more serious, as the members talked about the process of creating their recent album “Cross”, their passion in producing music, as well as their hopes as artists. After that, the boys came back on stage performing the title track from their new album called “So So”. They then took it up another notch with another bombastic performance of the song “Don’t Be Shy”. Hoony even went down and partied with the crowd in the Cross seating area.

However, a minor technical glitch unexpectedly happened as Mino’s microphone wasn’t able to function. As the crews hurried up and made their way to find a replacement mic, leader Yoon ensured all the fans in attendance that things were fine. In doing so, he came out with his own idea in hyping up the crowd. He pointed at Mino’s auto tune microphone. “Why don’t we sing and rap in Malay language with an auto tune voice,” Yoon said to his members, much to fans’ approval.

As we reached the end of the night, fans were asked to get to their feet for the next few songs; which were all powerhouse upbeat tracks. Starting off strong with their 2018 hit song “Millions”, the chilled dance numbers “Ah Yeah” and “Immature”, and last but not least, the ultimate party theme, “La La”. Serving jams after jams, Inner Circles in attendance had found themselves immersed in the atmosphere – dancing along to the beat of the night.

As the boys made their way out from the stage, a number of Inner Circles started singing the chorus of “Millions”. The cycle repeated for a few moments until a countdown video played on the rectangular screen. Surprise! Surprise! The members appeared on the LED screen, signaling that they were ready for the encore stage. They then continued with the performances of their songs “Hello” and “Zoo”.

This show indeed was a special one for leader Yoon. In this case, Inner Circles who came to the event had planned to celebrate his 27th birthday! “Today is not my birthday!” the Busan-born singer remarked. He was then surprised with a cake gifted by fans. He then spontaneously responded by saying, “Today is my birthday!” They then sang the birthday song in Korean and English. He was also teased by his fellow members as he thanked the fans for the early celebration.

Following that, it was time for the members to say their last words to the crowd in attendance, which got everyone emotional. Amidst the thanks and mentions of keeping promises and returning again stronger than ever, member Jinu was seen holding back his tears, as he described the Inner Circles as the true hero for the night.

Meanwhile, Hoony managed to lighten up the situation by referring to them as his “sayang” (loves). “Seronok tak hari ini? (Was it fun today?)”  he asked the crowd, before continuing, “I had a lot of fun today. Looking forward to see you guys again. Sampai jumpa lagi (See you later).” WINNER then ended the show with a bang with the encore special performances of “Really Really”, “La La” and “Every Day”. And with that, the concert was finally over.

Jacqueline Wong Wants To Be A Man In Her Next Life

“Handmaidens United” or “The Maid Alliance” (丫鬟大聯盟) recently concluded with its finale last week. However, Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎) took to her Instagram to share a throwback photo from “Finding Her Voice”.

In the post, she wrote, “Leaving behind happy times and fond memories during filming. Thank you team.”

Source: Instagram

However, what caught people’s attention was not her Instagram post – which showed her in her purple period costume – but what she posted in her Instagram stories. In the aforementioned photo (pictured right), we see the actress in a soldier’s outfit staring intensely at her weapon.

The 30-year-old expressed that she’d like to be a man in her next life. We can’t be certain if she’s simply reflecting about her filming experience on set or looking back at the series of dramatic events that took place last year.

Source: Instagram

Several netizens commented that although Andy Hui (許志安) was equally guilty from the cheating scandal, Jacqueline’s backlash was way more severe. Is it a sexist thing?

Anyhow, we hope better opportunities awaits the disgraced actress in 2020.

A number of EXO-Ls (EXO stans) came down to SMTown Coex Artium located in Gangnam yesterday (19th January). The fans – who referred themselves as EXO-L ACE – have protested for the 27-year-old to make his exit.

According to Allkpop, the group’s initial plan was to gather 200 people present for the protest. However, the number was cut down to 100 for an unknown reason. During the actual event itself, it was reported that around 50 individuals were present, which proved that the haters were just all talk.

In response, loyal followers of Chen (real name Kim Jongdae) worldwide have taken to Twitter to show their love and support to him by coming up with several hashtags such as #MyAnswerIsEXO9, #EXOLBelievesInEXO9 and #Chen_Stays, demanding him to stay with the other members.

Additionally, some even slammed those who were in attendance during the protest, referring the fans as a “clowns” for embarrassing themselves. Feel free to read their reactions here:

In case you missed it, the Daejeon-born idol caused massive stir among fans following the announcement of his marriage. He even revealed that his non-celebrity partner is currently pregnant with their first child; further adding fuel among his fans.

Do you think EXO-L ACEs were being overly obsessive towards Chen?

At the SAG Awards, both emerged as winners for their respective roles in TV and movie. Jennifer took home Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in “The Morning Show”, while Brad won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood”.

It just so happened that their categories were announced one right after the other. After delivering their speeches on stage, the 50-year-old actress and the 54-year-old actor found themselves in the press room backstage at the exact same time. Was this pure coincidence or a set up by the producers?

Either way, we aren’t complaining.

The duo seemed overjoyed with each other. At one point, Jen even touched Brad’s chest as he held her arm. PDA, people!!!! However, sources close to them have insist that are “purely platonic and nothing more than that”.

Thanks to social media, fans also got to witness another heartwarming moment when the Hollywood hunk stopped everything to watch the “Friends” star deliver her speech. And he seemed pretty captivated by her.

Watch:

Throughout this award season, the former flames have been out and about to support their projects. Congrats to them 🙂

Sulli (설리)’s elder brother Choi Daehee (최대희) came out with a shocking revelation on his Instagram, claiming that their father is currently going after the former f(x) member’s money that she has left following her unfortunate death.

Daehee posted a screenshot of a text message sent by their father. Word has it that the chat was supposed to be sent to his acquaintances.

I want to carry the sadness of my sister by myself. But how can a father share his problems regarding assets to his acquaintances instead of the sadness of the loss of his daughter? He hasn’t even visited her grave yet. I don’t want to get too personal here but if we’re strangers, let’s just live like that,” Daehee wrote on the caption.

It was revealed in the message that both Sulli’s parents are currently fighting for the rights to inherit her assets and wealth she left behind. “I have a daughter who has gone to heaven. She has left behind assets. I have fought with her mother about this and we’re currently living as strangers,” the father wrote in the chat.

The father even claimed that he’s praying to use the money to benefit the society. “I pray that everyone will remember our God’s sacrifice to save us and listen to his voice and live a happy life of giving back (to the community). I love you,” he further added.

A day after that, Daehee uploaded a screenshot of a conversation he had with his father. The father has claimed that he had visited Sulli’s grave twice. Daehee responded to his father by writing, “This isn’t even funny anymore. How can you use someone else’s photo and pretend that it’s yours? You really need to stop lying,” implying that his father is being manipulative.

Daehee continued by claiming that their father is trying to avoid from paying the inheritance tax. He assured that the family members will not sell the house that Sulli had worked hard for. It was also revealed that the payment is coming up this March.

It seems like the whole situation is getting out of hand. What’s next for both Sulli’s brother and father after this?

Interview: Lewis Capaldi Talks About His Malaysian Experiences, Crazy Fan Encounter & Niall Horan

2019’s breakout star, Lewis Capaldi, set Malaysia a blazed recently with his first concert ever on our home soil. Prior to that, we attended the press conference where he shared his thoughts on his journey thus far.

Speaking to the media, the “Someone You Loved” singer was all smiles and full of laughs as he answered a series of questions regarding his album, his future plans and his experience in Malaysia. Check out what he said below:

Source: Metro

What was your first impression when you came to Malaysia?

It’s very warm and I’m a sweaty boy. I’ve just had a shower, this isn’t sweat (pointing towards his shirt). I just showered but I am still sweating.

When did you arrive in Malaysia?

Yesterday (13th January 2020) afternoon, and we came in and the hotel here did like a monster Burrito challenge. And it’s like 2 foot long and it got a kilogram of chips.

(But I didn’t finish the challenge), my stomach found it difficult. I mean obviously we tried traditional Malaysian food besides the Burrito. We did that and I felt pregnant. Basically I ruin my first day here cause I couldn’t move, because the Burrito had to be eaten within 30 minutes. But today I’m going to venture out and I’m going to see the sites.

“Someone You Love” has been #1 on the UK chart for 7 weeks straight and it was even #1 in Billboard Hot 100. How does that feel like and did you expect that at all?

Oh no no, I didn’t expect that and it’s kind of nice I think. When we make the album and stuff I never saw myself as someone who would have a bit (of fame). I never thought about singles, I’m always just thought, okay, I’m making an album. That’s what I’ll do and it just so happens that, you know, we have a bit (of success) which is lovely. I mean I’m so happy but, yeah, it just makes you a bit nervous, like 2019, a really good year, 2020, uh oh.

I’m joking of course but yeah, it just been a very nice experience. To be able to come here and do this and speak to you and play the show and stuff like that it’s a privilege so I’m very please.

You have fans from all over the world and you must have lots of Twitter replies and DMs everyday.

I do, not all of them are nice.

It’s been wild, for the responses I had from people and the messages I received is all very nice. It’s a bit strange to think that my songs means so much to other people. But it’s all very lovely and I’m sure that it’s definitely not my mother just tweeting over and over again.

So do you still stay with your mom?

Yeah I still live with my parents. I love to stay with my parents and I’m never really at home nowadays. So when I go home I’m like my mom’s favourite child, for a day, then she realises that I’m just an ordinary child and I’m just not that cool. When I go home she washes my underwear, which is a nice thing she does and that’s not an easy task.

Let’s backtrack a little bit to your debut album. What is the backstory behind it because each of the songs have different stories and emotions attach to them. How did you get the concept of that?

I was dating a lady for 2 years, or a year and a half, and then she decided that she did not like me very much. I know, could you believe it? (sarcastic tone) Could you believe this face that she didn’t like after a while. Then I wrote an album about it, a whole album that over 3 years.

But yeah, I mean there some songs on there about our breakup. Then there some songs about relatives of mine that had passed away, which is even more depressing than a breakup.

After that, I mean they’re just songs that are personal. Oh, I’m an open book. Open up and have a read and see what you think. It’s a very personal album. The songs are all very sad but I’m actually quite a happy guy.

When people see your Instagram, they usually expect you to be like ‘writing a sad song right now’ but you’re a very cheerful guy.

Hey, I like to have a good time. Put a party hat on me and lets paint the town red. Listen, I’m a cheerful boy and I love nothing more than you know, putting on my little party pants and run and sing; that’s what I get up to.

What are your plans for 2020?

I’ll try to write a new album and it will probably not be as good as the first one. Cause let’s face it I have a good album – the first album done very well, very happy so please, excited – but I don’t know if I got another one in me.

It takes so long, no one tells you that. I’ll try to write an album and I’ll try and make it not terrible. That’s what I’ll try to do, but again, I can’t promise anything. Yeah, it’s a really good question, it’s gonna be a good year; going to try to lose some weight. I’ll probably want to release the first single to my second album by the end of 2020.

If it wasn’t for your music career, what would you be doing right now?

If it wasn’t for my music career I would probably be living at home with my mom and dad, so I just wouldn’t have a job. So there you go, my life be pretty much the same, I still live with my parents, I wouldn’t have branch out at all. So probably be doing that and what else? I don’t know, probably be playing Playstation in my pants.

Besides your music, what is the one thing you would like people to remember about you?

Well, (joking tone) my handsome good looks of course.

You announced a joined tour with Niall Horan this year. Since Niall has supported you with your music and has been in the industry longer than you have. How has he affected your music, your style of writing and how has he helped you?

Niall has been a massive help for me, I mean, Niall is the first person, like the first famous person, who has mentioned about my music and has supported my music. He’s always been a huge help not just once. I mean I really appreciate the fact that he likes music and that he has nothing to gain from sharing my music in the first place.

He still has nothing to gain in asking me to join him. I mean he is just doing it cause he likes music. It really really means a lot to me cause I’ve been a massive fan of his and One Direction for a very very long time. It’s been very cool and that we became like pals over the last couple of years because he’s genuinely the nicest person I’ve met in music and stuff. So yeah I love him, I could never repay him for being a very welcoming gentleman. Although, he’s quite small (joking tone). So, he’s great and all that stuff but he’s like 5 foot 4.

Do you have a particular lyric in your song that you find the most significant or your favourite?

My favourite now is probably my newest single “Before You Go”, cause the lyrics are just very personal to me – more personal than some of the other songs. Especially cause I wrote it more recently and I think back to the chorus line that goes, ‘Was there something I could’ve said to make it all stop hurting? It kills me how your mind can make you feel so worthless’.

I just think those lyrics for me really means a lot and it’s kind of the first lyric that came for that song. So yeah, I like that lyrics and I hope people do too.

Source: Instagram

What observations have you made about fame and how prepared are you from the different aspects that come with fame, which include sometimes as not being as famous anymore as you sort of hinted just now?

Yeah, I mean that day is coming for sure. That day is coming like a freight train (laugh). I think what I realise from fame is that in some aspect it can be very fun, but I think if you take it seriously, you done trouble. And if you value yourself on how famous you are, you’re in big trouble and I think it doesn’t matter, it makes no difference. I’m not like Ed Sheeran famous or Justin Bieber famous, so well, I’m coming to a nice little bit, I mean I don’t need to like duck in or out (from fans).

I think you have to not take it seriously, it’s a quite stupid concept to be famous, you know what I mean. I’m just a young chubby boy from Scotland and I didn’t even finished high school when I left halfway through my last year. Although, 6 months from now I might be like, oh I lost my fame and I want it back. But yeah I don’t do this to be famous, I do it to make lot of money… I’m joking.

What was the craziest encounter with a fan?

I played a show in Glasgow and I had to go to London fairly quickly after the show but there was also a little party afterwards and I just wanted to say hello to my friends and family cause I had to leave quite sharply. So when I was walking back up, you have to go through the venue to get to the party. There was still a massive queue of people queuing up to get their jackets and I had to walk through.

For the most part it was very like ‘oh hi, Lewis’ ‘hi Lewis’ so I was just waving at the people like that. Then I was walking down and there was this massive barrier that was about here (showing the height to his chest). Some woman ran towards me, there is a video of it online, and I looked terrified. She bolted, jumped across then tried to grab me and kiss me. I was like “oh stop, please don’t”. She kissed me right in the face, hey, fair play to you wherever you are, woman, ma’am. Yeah, she was removed from the venue after that, but it was pretty intense.

Some people are calling you the male version of Adele, how do you feel about it?

Well that’s nice, Adele is Adele. Adele is very successful, she has a long career which is also quite nice. I always say when people ask me what type of music I make, I’d imagine Adele, right, but she’s a guy and she’s not as talented – that’s me in a nut shell and I think that’s a nice place to be. I had the male Adele comparison and then people calling me the next Ed Sheeran and I think, artists in the past have been like, “oh I don’t want that I’m the first me”, and I’m like “who cares”, no one is comparing me to, you know, a Hollywood person you know what I mean, they’re comparing me to a very good artist that I love, it’s a huge compliment. It’s weird that no one is referring me to the next Beyonce, which is what I’m hoping for.

I like all that stuff as long as people are buying my music, listening to my music, coming to my shows. Call me what you want, you know what I mean. But don’t call me what you want, call me nicer.

Are you more of a singer or songwriter?

I say probably a songwriter. If we’re talking technically, I’m not that good of a singer. I got like 3 notches and a bit of falsetto. That said, if you look at someone like Beyonce, or Adele or Amy Winehouse, or Ariana Grande, these people are singers, they are incredible singers and I think if you’re comparing them to my voice, you’d go “oh Ariana Grande is definitely a much better singer”. I suppose some people have preferences but you’re talking about preference, so if you’re talking about technicality, I never see myself as that good of a singer. I like how my voice sound but I never see it as that as anything bigger like, “Woah look at all this”, I can’t do that.

So for that reason, I’ll always been like one of those songwriters. If I didn’t wrote my own songs I wouldn’t be here. I like playing the songs I’ve written live, and seeing the reaction of it. But you know if I can sing like Ariana Grande that would be lovely.

Netflix: Get To Know The 9 Main Characters In The Ghost Bride

$

“The Ghost Bride” (彼岸之嫁) is a big deal. Not only was it written by Malaysian novelist Yangsze Choo, but it is also Netflix’s first large scale collaboration in Malaysia with local talent and production teams alike.

‘The Ghost Bride’ is based on superstitious myth, but is ‘very’ Chinese-Peranakan. Even though it is quite localised, it can be very appealing to other cultures. This is what we are looking for. We try and find storylines that people will enjoy all around the world,” a Netflix spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Directed by Quek Shio Chuan and Ho Yuhang, the 6-episode series’ plot reads:

In 1890s Colonial Malacca, Li Lan has been offered a marriage proposal from the wealthy Lim Family to become the ‘ghost bride’ to their recently deceased son. Her family will be saved from a lifetime of debt, but she’ll spend the rest of her life being haunted by the Lim family’s son. Desperate to get out of this ghastly arrangement, she soon finds herself wrapped up in a murder mystery and embroiled in other-worldly affairs much bigger than she could have ever imagined.”

1. Pan Li Lan (潘麗蘭)

  • Played by Huang Pei-Jia (黄姵嘉)

Pan Li Lan is a free-spirited, adventurous teenager in a world where females can never be as important as men. From a young age, she has dreamed of traveling the world, especially Paris, the place where her late mother promised to bring her. She always feels that there’s more for her than following other girls her age – to get married and “trapped” as a housewife forever – but there aren’t many options for women in her time. Li Lan is the only child in the Pan family and since her mother’s death, she has been cared for by her father and Amah, who has been serving the family even before Li Lan’s birth. Her best friend is Yu Li, the complete opposite of her. Since she was a little girl,Li Lan has had feelings for Tian
Bai and the feelings remained upon his return from overseas, although she doesn’t know if Tian Bai feels the same.

After she’s poisoned in Episode 3, Li Lan’s spirit travels to the underworld and she finds her family and herself threatened by Tian Ching, who wants to take her as a ghost bride. Together with a Heaven’s Guard named Er Lang, Li Lan fulfills her dream of an adventure of a lifetime.

Fun facts during the press conference and our exclusive interview:

  • In real life, Li Lan is a much braver person than myself.”
  • Like Kuang Tian, I was introduce to tango for the first time.”
  • On working alongside her male costars: “This is my second working experience with Kang Jen, so it was easy to get into the rhyme and also communicate with one another. As for Kuang Tian, we actually went to the same University together but this was our first time working together. Perhaps due to his inexperience, he was often nervous on set. So I’d tell him to calm down and let loose a little.”
  • Biggest challenge: “Scenes that took place in the underworld had a lot of effects, and that required a lot of imagination. So I’d ask very specific directions from the director.”

2. Er Lang (二郎)

  • Played by Chris Wu Kang Jen (吴慷仁)

Despite his youthful and charming looks, Er Lang is in fact an immortal who is 500 years old. As a Heaven’s Guard, Er Lang works on cases related to Heaven, the Underworld, and the Human World. A brash and arrogant man, he has zero empathy for humans as he considers them to be complicated beings who always act on emotions, but things change after he meets Li Lan. He thinks that his immortality is a curse as he has watched empires destroyed and loved ones die over the last 500 years, causing him to suppress his emotions. As a Heaven’s Guard, he possesses the power to manipulate Qi but his power doesn’t work when he’s in the underworld.

One of his most commonly used power is producing a flower out of thin air which he uses to flirt with women. Before meeting Li Lan, his ultimate goal is to expose the bribery between Tian Ching and one of the Judges of the Court of Hell, to receive promotion which will release him from being on the field. However, upon meeting Li Lan, he rediscovers his human side and her safety becomes his ultimate priority.

Fun facts during our exclusive interview:

  • Er Lang is sort of a middleman and audiences will get to see a big shift in him halfway through the series.
  • There were different versions of swords on set. Because the authentic weapon was too heavy to wield, we had to resort to other alternatives.”
  • On watching the final product on screen: When he conjured a flower out of thin air in episode 2, the animation director was using only a light bulb. So the actor was quite impressed to see the scene turn out so well.

3. Lim Tian Bai (林天白)

  • Played by Ludi Lin (林路迪)

A medical school grad who’s recently returned from overseas, Tian Bai is the rightful man-in-charge of the Lim family after Tian Ching’s death and Mr. Lim’s absence. Despite that, he doesn’t act on it as Madam Lim is still the matriarch of the house. He’s the cousin to Tian Ching and Yan Hong yet he’s Mr. Lim’s most trusted person to take over the family business. Tian Bai always puts his family above everything, so he’s willing to let go of his dream of becoming a doctor to take over the family’s business. He also agrees to marry Isabel Souza, the daughter of a powerful Macau family, in an attempt to unite the two families. A smart, by-the-book character, Tian Bai’s life is always laid out for him.

Upon his return, he rekindles his relationship with Li Lan and finds himself divided between his own feelings and his duty to the family. Throughout the series, Tian Bai finds himself pushed out of his comfort zone as he starts to put himself first and embarks on a murder mystery to investigate Li Lan’s poisoner.

Fun facts during the press conference and our exclusive interview:

  • Ludi on his character: “I have many friends that just exudes kindness and that’s something I’ve always admired in a person – who’s goal is to help people. As it turns out, Tian Bai is not like that because he’s got 2 girls up his sleeve. So (the series) teases out the relationships, I think that’s an important factor.”
  • Challenges faced during production: “The feedback I got initially was that my Mandarin was too Chinese because I was born in Mainland China. So I had to learn how to modify my pronunciation.”
  • Similarities with the character: “Although the conditions can be different, we all share the same emotions. Tian Bai has the best of intentions and he’s a pure romantic. But in the real world, if you behave like that, you’ll end up neglecting a lot of things and that can cause a whole series of tragic events.”

4. Lim Tian Ching (林天青)

  • Played by Kuang Tian (田士广)

The main antagonist of the series, Tian Ching is the egoistic, spoiled son of Madam Lim. His privilege continues after his death through the luxurious offerings burnt for him, and his illegal arrangement with one of the judges of the Courts of Hell. During his life, Tian Ching is a carefree playboy and a megalomaniac who’s often undermined by Mr. Lim due to his impulsive behaviour – his father’s neglect of him and his own bratty behaviour work hand in hand to make him an unlikeable person. He dies from mysterious causes, until it’s revealed that his death is caused by the same poison used on Li Lan. The conflict of the series starts when Tian Ching demands Li Lan to be his ghost bride and the proposal comes along with various threats and hauntings towards Li Lan and the Pan family.

Fun facts during the press conference and our exclusive interview:

  • What he learned: “I was reintroduced to our own culture from the many costumes we wore.”
  • Similarities between him and his character: “I could relate most to the family struggle within the Lim family. Because I moved out of my home at a young age, there’s been a challenge in conveying how I actually feel.”
  • New skill: “I had to learn tango for this role. Pei-Jia already had years of dance experience. So for me, I had to go through several rehearsals in order to keep up.”

5. Mr Pan (潘先生)

  • Played by Jordan Voon (温绍平)

Li Lan’s father – a spice trader – Mr. Pan (潘先生) has been a shadow of his former lively self since the death of his wife. His grief has indirectly impacted his relationship with Li Lan – he has let his business suffer, and the family is now no longer well off and only scraping by. Despite that, Li Lan’s love for him is still unshakeable to a point where she dares to enter the underworld in order to save him when he falls sick.

After he’s cured, he is determined to take a second shot at being a good father to Li Lan by teaming up with Tian Bai to find the person who poisoned Li Lan.

6. Amah (阿嬤)

  • Played by Susan Leong (梁书造)

Since the death of Li Lan’s mother, Amah has been Li Lan’s mother figure. She has worked in the Pan household as the maid since before Li Lan was born and has seen Li Lan grew up to be the woman she is. Although she seems like a control freak and constantly tells Li Lan what to do, all she ever wants is for Li Lan to find her happiness. She’s a no-nonsense, street smart person and respected as one of the prominent individuals in Malacca’s Amah community, where she gets the inside track of the town’s going-ons. She has a close friendship with Old Wong and Ying Jia Amah, a maid of the Lim family. She’s well-versed in Chinese culture and customs. Amah is also affected by Tian Ching’s proposal to marry Li Lan as she starts having mysterious bruises and suffers from hauntings.

7. Madam Lim (林夫人)

  • Played by Angeline Tan (陈意遐)

The matriarch of the Lim family, Madam Lim is a revered and influential housewife. In Mr. Lim’s absence, she has taken care of the Lim mansion. Tian Ching is her biological son whom she loves the most as she still keeps serving him after his death by burning luxurious offerings for him. This also includes passing Tian Ching’s marriage proposal to Li Lan. Although Madam Lim believes that burning those offerings is a way to show her love to Tian Ching after his death, she doesn’t realize that her actions have been implicating the people around her. Her other daughter, Yan Hong never receives the same treatment as Yan Hong is actually the daughter of Mr. Lim’s concubine who was brought to the Lim mansion. At the end of the series, Madam Lim realizes that she needs to let go of Tian Ching’s death and end her estrangement from her step daughter Yan Hong.

Fun facts during the press conference and our exclusive interview:

  • About her character: “Madam Lim is slightly psycho because of the son. Her dearest son is dead and her husband isn’t by her side. The similarities between Angeline and Madam Lim is probably the love for her son because I’m that kind of mother. But I’m not crazy to the point where I’ll go look for a ghost bride. Maybe if I was living in that era, I’d behave like that.”

8. Old Wong (老王)

  • Played by Wilson Tin (曾潍山)

Old Wong is the Pan family’s cook with a secret; he has the ability to see ghosts but has been struggling to ignore his ability as it comes with a sense of guilt. When Old Wong was younger, he saw his best friend, a little boy drown in the river. He could’ve helped him but didn’t. Since then, the boy started haunting him. He’s also affected by Tian Ching’s haunting like Amah but the effect of him is worse thanks to his third eye. Due to the terrifying haunting, Old Wong leaves the Pan house in Episode 3.

Like Amah, he has unconditional love for Li Lan thus in order to bring Li Lan out of the underworld, he’s willing to be vulnerable by helping a medium to deliver a message to Li Lan. The action weakens him, leading to a peaceful death knowing that he’s no longer bound by his guilt.

9. Yan Hong (林艳红)

  • Played by Jojo Goh (吴俐璇)

As the daughter of Mr. Lim’s concubine, Yan Hong is the black sheep of the family and she’s disregarded by Madam Lim. As a baby, Yan Hong was taken to the Lim household by her mother before committing suicide, proclaiming that she would curse them should Yan Hong not be taken care of. The lack of attention and love from Madam Lim causes Yan Hong to develop a rebellious personality – she seeks refuge in the smoky rooms of a gambling den. Despite her stern facade, Yan Hong is a nice person with utmost love for the family and the only thing she has ever wanted is for Madam Lim to see her as a daughter. She’s also a good childhood friend of Tian Bai.

The 6ft high cake featured heavy detailing of crystals, light bulbs, and terrariums placed to portray the dreamlike theme of the wedding. Guests who attended the wedding were also amused with the interior design of the cake that included a flowing spring fountain, complete with its own fog!

According to Chef Zam, he purposely didn’t informed Elly on the final product as he wanted it to be a surprise to the couple. “Elly just came out with the theme and colour option. At first, we wanted to make it simple. But come to think of it, we were inspired with the idea of including the spring fountain inside the cake,” he told mStar.

“The hand-made spring was done with the help of 8 additional assistants. In fact, the baking process is not as easy as it seems. It was actually time consuming and we still had to fulfil other customers’ orders as well,” he further added in the chat.

As for the price of the cake, Chef Zam has refused to spill details on the exact total amount. But he admitted that it can reach up to thousands of ringgit depending on the material, design, and more.

The unique wedding treat has also caught fans’ attention on social media as well. In this case, most of them have left positive remarks towards Chef Zam’s creative hands in making the stunning piece. Feel free to check out some of their comments on Instagram below:

Japanese Grandma Becomes Porn Star At 81 & Prefers Young Men

Is age just a number in the porn industry? Just ask Ogasawara Yuko.

The grandma, who is over 80 years old, recently made headlines about how she opted to become a porn star after her late husband passed away. Interestingly, she has one condition – she’ll only shoot with younger men.

According to China Press, Ogasawara was brought up with a strict education where her father had a typical office job and her mum was a housewife. Ogasawara married her beau after graduating and they had 2 sons and a daughter. Sadly, her hubby died when she was 59 due to liver failure.

2 years later, she ventured into the food and beverage industry after encouragement from her friends. One fine day, a female customer at her restaurant asked her if she was keen on being an adult film actress.

Source: Google Images

Ogasawara initially turned down the idea, but everything changed when she unintentionally visited a film set where they shoot porn. Upon seeing a young actress getting it on with an older man, she remarked, “If it was me, I would want to act alongside a young, handsome actor.”

A producer overheard her and offered an enticing deal, saying, “If you are willing, we can make it happen.” As aforementioned, Ogasawara made her debut as a porn star when she was 81 years old. Since then, she has partner up with adult film stars young enough to be her grandsons.

At 83 now, the Japanese woman finds her life “good and very fulfilling”. Apparently, even her own son encouraged her to pursue this career path.

5 K-pop Groups That Are Most Likely To Disband Next Year

$
0
0

The Korean government came out with a law back in 2009, restricting all contracts involving K-pop idols to a maximum of 7 years. Relating to the infamous 7-year jinx, most K-pop groups will usually disband after their 7-year long contract concludes.

This means all groups that debuted in the year 2014 will be considering whether they want to renew their contract or remain.

Check out some of the groups that made their first official debut that year and will likely disband come 2021. Keep in mind that the list are not arranged according to their exact debut date:

1. GOT7 (갓세븐)

Source: Allkpop

Debut date: 20th January 2014

Just like other JYP Entertainment rosters, the future of the 7-member group is rather unclear. Some of the boys have indeed found success outside of the group, such as lead vocalist Jinyoung who is now more known as an actor with his breakout role in “He Is Psychometric”. Meanwhile, the group’s rapper Jackson Wang has also been making a stable name as a solo artiste, releasing jams after jams such as “Oxygen”, “Dawn Of Us” and “Papillon”, just to name a few.

The group was asked about the 7-year jinx during an interview. In this case, all of the members assured that they’re not afraid at all. “It’s true that we don’t have much time left (with the company). But, all of us share the same opinion; we’re going to keep going together as seven members,” leader JB said.

Jinyoung further added by saying, “People call it the 7-year jinx but I think that the times have changed. There are a lot of seniors who have surpassed the 7-year mark. Because we have close seniors that have promoted for a long time together, we never once thought, ‘Are we going to go our separate ways after 7 years?'”

2. Red Velvet (레드벨벳)

Source: Soompi

Debut date: 1st August 2014

As all of Reveluvs (Red Velvet fandom name) know, the group made their official debut with 4 members – Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy. Maknae Yeri joined the group later in 2015. Therefore, we can assume that the 22-year-old’s contract will not expire until 2022.

Despite the fact that SM will not usually announce group disbandments formally, it will still be difficult to organise the schedule if a number of members are leaving the company. The case is apparent for senior groups like Girls’ Generation and f(x).

3. WINNER (위너)

Source: Forbes

Debut date: 17th August 2014

For those who have been following the YG Entertainment boy group, all of the members appeared on the reality show “Who Is Next (WIN)” way back in 2013, where they emerged as the winning group. However, they faced several delays and setbacks until their official debut in 2014 and the cycle continued during their one-and-a-half-yearhiatus before making their comeback in 2016. Former member Nam Taehyun also left the group that same year, adding insult to the injury.

Despite the fact that the group has been getting popular up until the present day, things will not be the same if the members are still unhappy with the recurring condition surrounding their home label. As a result, it is most likely the group will not renew their contracts with the famed entertainment agency, and disband the group in the process.

4. Mamamoo (마마무)

Source: Koreaherald

Debut date: 18th June 2014

All 4 members of the group – Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa – had successfully kicked off their solo careers since starting their stint in the K-pop scene back in 2014. We can argue that the most successful member would be maknae Hwasa who made waves with her debut single “Twit”, which reached the top of Gaon chart.

A lot of K-fans have been speculating the future of the group when their contracts expired next year. Some pointed that all of them will leave their current company RBW to focus on their own music (the members have different approaches and styles in music). Others argued that there’s no reason for them to exit as the girls are currently having the best of both worlds – both as a group as well as in their solo endeavours.

5. Lovelyz (러블리즈)

Source: Naver x Dispatch

Debut date: 12th November 2014

Like WINNER’s case, Lovelyz has also been caught with an alleged mistreatment over the last few years. Despite making their names known domestically, it is quite difficult for them to pursue their career overseas. Note that brother group Infinite is also famous in neighbouring country Japan. Not only that, the fact that they only release one song last year, also raises a red flag.

The only arguably successful member of the group would be Kei, who released her solo song “I Go” in October last year. It will be quite difficult for the girls to promote as Lovelyz in the future if most of them decide to not to proceed with their contract.

Hopefully these groups will still be active in producing music as a whole despite the fact that their contracts are coming to an end soon.

BTS Unveil “Map of the Soul” Asia Tour Dates & Locations

Get excited ARMYs, BTS (방탄소년단) and BigHit Entertainment have just announced the first batch of tour dates for “Map of the Soul” 2020 world tour.

The mega K-pop group will kick off the anticipated concert in their home country in Seoul on 11th April 2020 before travelling outside of South Korea.

Following their 4-day concert in Seoul, the 7-member group will be touring across the United States, United Kingdom, and more. Fans in Asia are clearly disappointed that the only other Asian country to be included in “Map of the Soul” world tour is Japan so far.

Take a look:

  • 11th – 12th, 18th – 19th April: Olympic Stadium, Seoul
  • 28th – 29th June: Fukuoka PayPay Dome, Kyushu Island, Japan
  • 23rd, 25th, 26th, 30th July & 1st – 2nd August: Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan
  • 7th – 8th August: MetLife Dome, Saitama, Japan
  • 1st – 2nd September: Tokyo Dome, Japan

Understandably, many fans can relate to the meme pictured above. There’s been a lot of talk of BTS visiting Southeast Asia (particularly Malaysia) since last year. Hopefully someone makes good on their word.

But if you’re thinking of travelling to Japan to experience the “Map of the Soul” concert, Osaka seems like a good bet since that venue has the most dates for a single location so far. Chances are, other dates will be snapped up pretty fast.

f(x) member Amber Liu (엠버) finally broke her silence about the ongoing questions regarding her group activities.

The 28-year-old starlet recently made her appearance on Dive Studios’ podcast “K-pop Daebak Show” hosted by her bestie, Eric Nam (에릭남). During the session, Amber was asked, “Why do you think there has not been more of f(x)?”

The “Other People” singer pointed that there are a lot of things to consider. “Despite that you are in the same company or group, there’s still so many moving parts. Like if I want to do it (continue as f(x)), someone else might not want to do it, ” Amber clarified in the chat.

Additionally, Amber continued by suggesting that all the parties involved must be on the same page in order to get the “green light” for the project. She further assured by letting MeUs (as fans are lovingly called) know that all of the girls have been dying to make a grand return as a whole.

“When we feel like it’s the right time and the business is okay as well, I think we’ll figure it out,” Amber told the Atlanta-born entertainer. For those interested, check out the full video of the interview here:

To refresh everyone’s memory, the 4-member K-pop group’s last comeback was way back in 2015 with the song “4 Walls”. Amber, along with fellow members Luna and Victoria have since left their agency SM Entertainment back in September 2019.

All the girls are still coping with their solo activities as at time of writing. Hopefully 2020 will bring good luck for the girls.
