CARATs, we’ve got some bad news for you.

In case if you’ve missed it, Pledis Entertainment announced yesterday (Monday, 18th November) that SEVENTEEN leader S.Coups (에스쿱스) will halt all his scheduled activities with his group to receive treatment for his anxiety.

According to the record label, the decision was made by S.Coups (real name Choi Seung Cheol) as well as the other members of the award-winning boy band. Their official statement reads:

“Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment. We would like to make an official announcement in regards to the health condition of S.Coups.

S.Coups has recently been undergoing a detailed examination and diagnosis of his health, due to symptoms of anxiety. And after thorough discussion, all of the Seventeen members – including S.Coups himself – have decided that it would be best for him to take his time off and temporarily abstain from participating in SEVENTEEN’s activities.

“We sincerely apologise to all fans who have continued showing their love and support for SEVENTEEN. We further express our hopes for your kind understanding, as we have made this decision to prioritise our member’s health and well-being. We will make sure to continue trying our best to protect our artists.

In addition, we sincerely hope that there will be no excessive assumptions or misunderstandings regarding the health of S.Coups. We will make further announcements accordingly in regard to his recovery and future activities. Thank you.”

Ready to meet your favourite Hong Kong stars? Then you’re in luck. More than a dozen of Hong Kong best known actors and actresses are in Malaysia to shoot a web drama titled “The Impossible 3” (Cantonese title Fei Fan Sam Hap).

The action comedy tells the story of 3 strangers, all of whom are thrown into a crisis. This forces them to work together to unravel the mystery of the crisis while being chase by policemen and triads alike.

The 3 main characters in the adventure include an online fiction writer played by Julian Cheung (better known as Chilam), a stuntman portrayed by Bosco Wong, and a tour guide played by Chrissie Chau.

Joining the 3 will be Michael Wong, who plays a foul-mouthed mobster and Moses Chan who portrays a bartender with a dark past, along with a kind-hearted hustler played by Vincent Wong.

While the cast have been pretty tight-lipped on the plot of series, Chau did let loose a little bit more, explaining her getup in the series while making sure to not reveal any spoilers.

She said, “My character is an ordinary tour guide, who has been booked by two guests namely Bosco and Chilam. But, she has a dual identity. I can’t tell you any more than that, but that is why you will see her dressed like Lara Croft.”

Other members involved in the series include TVB actors Samantha Ko, James Ng, and Mark Ma. Alongside them will be Malaysian beauty queen Jovane Phang, who won Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant in 2018.

The 6-episode online series will be released in the second half of 2020. And will be produced by the legendary film company Shaw Brothers Holdings.

She-Hulk, the character has been in and around the comic books for years. But not a lot of people know about her existent beyond comic book readers. Well, rest assured that is about to change when she hits the small screen in “She-Hulk”.

As good as her show might be, it will certainly help if a fellow big name appeared in it, even as a cameo. Especially, if that star is one of the original 6 Marvel Cinematic Universe Avengers. That seems to be exactly the case as Mark Ruffalo is in talks to appear in the Disney+ series.

During a recent interview with People, the “Avengers” star was asked about the possibility of a “She-Hulk” cameo. In his response, the actor talked about an upcoming meeting with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about his potential appearance in the show.

“I don’t know, I’m supposed to go talk with the great Mr. Feige,” he teased, “Great mysterious Mr. Feige to see if there’s some place.” When asked if he would personally like to cameo, Ruffalo replied, “Sure, why not! It’s been a great ride.”

In the comics, She-Hulk is the cousin of Bruce Banner named Jennifer Walters. She comes into her Hulk powers when she received a blood transfusion from Banner after being severely injured. Seeing how Ruffalo’s character played a big part of the character’s origin story, it stand to reason that the original Hulk will appear in the show in some way.

Currently, not much is known about the Disney+ show besides picking up “Rick & Morty” writer Jessica Gao. But rest assured, we will keep you updated when new information of the series come up.

So, what does V (뷔) has to say about that? The K-pop idol recently took to social media platform Weverse on Monday (18th November) to ask for fans’ opinions on how to fall asleep easily. A flock of fans came out with a few suggestions for him. But apparently, one particular fan’s comment managed to catch the 24-year-old’s attention.

The user – known as Hwa Yeonyi (화연이) – commented, “Me! Taehyung oppa, you can look at photos of Jungkook that you love the most!” V then responded by writing, “You better come out of your imagination, it is not good to be there.”

3 years ago, Starbucks debuted Malaysia’s first Signing Store in Bangsar Village II, as a way to celebrate deaf partners.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 19th November), the American coffee chain launched Penang’s first Signing Store in Burmah Road, Penang. Malaysia is now the only country to have 2 Signing Stores and the Burmah Road outlet is only the 4th Signing Store in the world.

The objective of this launch is to offer employment and development opportunities to the deaf community in Penang. The outlet will be manned by 7 Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees (referred to as partners) who are fluent in sign language.

In addition to the store sign spelled in sign language, the deaf baristas’ black or green apron also sports a special embroidery of ‘Starbucks’ in Malaysian sign language. In case you’re wondering, the Washington D.C. (US) and Guangzhou (China) are the only 2 other countries to have a Starbucks Signing Store.

Don’t worry if you’re not equipped with sign language as customers can put their orders down in writing. The number assigned will appear on the screen next to the pick-up counter once your order is ready.

Similar to other Starbucks partners, those working in the Signing Store can also undergo the Coffee Master Program to widen their knowledge on coffee and barista craft. Upon succeeding the program, the Deaf and Hard hearing baristas will receive their black aprons.

Bae Suzy (배수지) and IZ*ONE’s Jang Wonyoung (장원영)’s concerning physical conditions caused quite a stir among K-pop fans recently.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 19th November), Suzy was seen attending the press conference for her upcoming movie “Baekdu Mountain” (백두산) at the CGV theatre in Apgujeong, Gangnam. During the event, the former miss A member wore an elegant navy blue mid length dress.

One particular thing that managed to catch local reporters’ attention during the event was her curved facial feature. They pointed out how the “Dream High” star looked skinnier than before. It is believed that Suzy has undergone a strict diet plan, which resulted in the alleged change.

Many were thrilled when Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) officially debuted her baby bump recently. However, Wang Feng’s ex-girlfriend had some not-so-kind words for the actress.

Ge Huijie, who is the biological mum of Wang Feng’s eldest daughter Apple, took to social media to express her anger towards the award-winning star. She even accused Ziyi of being a neglectful mum.

What sparked the drama in the first place?

The 40-year-old actress documented a fun day out at the beach with her 3-year-old daughter Xing Xing. This apparently triggered Huijie since Apple was at home eating instant noodles.

Huijie’s wrote, “Are you a caveman? Are you breeding? According to your personality, maybe you have more illegitimate children? You better don’t think of yourself as a king, please take care of our own kids.” Despite not mentioning anyone by name, many fans figured it was aimed at Wang Feng and Ziyi.

Huijie reportedly gave birth to Apple out of wedlock in 2005 at the age of 18. She and the rocker eventually parted ways. This isn’t the first time she has publicly lashed out at Wang Feng. Back in 2016, she told Wang Feng “to go to hell” and claimed Zhang Ziyi only posted photos with Apple to get attention.

Netizens have advised Huijie to quit being so paranoid. Just because the actress is having a 2nd child with Wang Feng, it doesn’t mean that Apple will be shunned. The troubled model has since deleted her Weibo message.

Over a week ago, Aliff Aziz made headlines after he was involved in an altercation with a few police officers. As a result, he ended up getting arrested before being released after he was bailed by his family members.

Most recently, local news outlet Berita Mediacorp Singapore reported that the “Sayang Sayang” singer was charged for disorderly conduct. He is said to have acted in an indecent behaviour as well as shown inappropriate hand signals while in a drunken state.

The incident was allegedly committed at 6:25am on 10th November 2019 at a public area in Orchard Towers, Orchard Road, Singapore. If Aliff is found guilty, he will be fined up to SGD2000 (RM6100), to be sentenced to prison for not more than 6 months, or both.

This will be the 3rd charge made against the 28-year-old celebrity. In case you’ve missed it, he was also faced with 2 theft charges made against him. On 3rd September this year, he was accused of stealing an amount of money from an Indonesian actress.

He faced further charges for stealing a box of Marlboro cigarette and a lighter worth SGD15.60 (RM47). The incident was committed at a Starbucks cafe in Plaza Singapore back in August 2019.

Re-mentioning of all 3 cases involving the “Meh Sandar Pada Aku” actor is scheduled to take place on 9th December 2019.

The new “Charlie’s Angels” reboot has been out for almost a week. Passing by their opening weekend, that’s supposed to be their biggest money-making period. But recent reports coming out from the theaters suggest that the film is bombing.

According to Box Office Mojo, the Elizabeth Banks-flick only managed rack up a disappointing $27.9 million globally over the weekend and only $8.6 million in the US. Meaning that the film that had a $48 million production was a major box office flop. Resulting in the director giving a very controversial statement regarding the film’s flop.

In speaking to Australian Newspaper Herald Sun, the 45-year-old blamed male audiences for not seeing the film. She stated that they’re not likely to see female-led action movies and only interested in comic book movies because it is a “male genre”.

“They’ll go and see a comic book movie with ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ because that’s a male genre,” she said. “So even though those are movies about women, they put them in the context of feeding the larger comic book world, so it’s all about, yes, you’re watching a ‘Wonder Woman’ movie but we’re setting up three other characters or we’re setting up ‘Justice League’,” she continued.

She would later add that, “If this movie doesn’t make money it reinforces a stereotype in Hollywood that men don’t go see women do action movies.”

It was these kind of comments that managed to rub audiences the wrong way. Leading many to take to Twitter to criticise the director for shifting the blame on sexism instead of the film’s quality and marketing.

It’s official! The full list of nominees for the 62nd GRAMMY Awards is finally out. The announcement was made in a special press conference held last night (Wednesday, 20th November).

To everyone’s surprise, BTS (방탄소년단) was not listed in any of the main categories. For those who don’t know, the 7-member K-pop sensation came out with their record-breaking hit “Boy With Luv” with American songstress Halsey this year.

Fans were left fuming following the announcement. Despite the fact of the group’s success beyond their home country, fans started to wonder on the real reason for their GRAMMYs nomination snub.

Not only that, even Halsey herself was upset upon knowing the news. She posted a tweet to point out her disappointment that the “biggest song” of her career didn’t make it on the list.

However, at the time of writing (Thursday, 21st November), the post is nowhere to be found. The “Closer” singer has since asked fans to stop wasting their energy on this frustration.

Before Cecilia’s pregnancy, the actress had previously posted a series of candied snapshots of herself with a few foreign men – one of them was named Leo. When word got around that she was with child, those photos were already removed from her social media. This drew a ton of suspicion.

While her older sons Quintus and Lucas take after their father’s surname Tse (Nicholas Tse), Cecilia gave Marcus’ her surname instead and named him Cheung Lai Seng (张礼承). Word on the street has it that the actress and the unknown biological father parted ways before the baby was born.

31 years ago. I had no mortarboard. No robe. No flowers. Just a six-year-old me, wearing my torn out shoes going in front of the class to receive a certificate for completing my kindergarten studies. And most kids coming down from stage were given flowers. Maybe the time has changed. But me and my wife had the same smile like when my parents had for me 31 years ago. Kingston did me proud. He got two awards. Haha, despite not significant, an award is still an award. He is certainly better than me when I was his age. He got an award for spelling. I couldn’t even spell ‘spelling’ when I was six. Joke aside. Seeing him went up stage to collect his award gave me goosebumps. I never had a chance to graduate with a university degree. In the post, he opened the caption by reminiscing his younger days. According to the world champion, he remembered on how he was such a “rascal” back in the day. “Today I went to my son’s kindergarten ‘convocation’,” Chong Wei wrote, before jokingly adding, “If I wasn’t careful, I thought my son graduated with a bachelor’s degree already.”

Additionally, he pointed out that he is super proud to have an intelligent son like Kingston. “Kingston did me proud. He got two awards. Haha, despite not significant, an award is still an award,” shared the badminton legend.

It’s that time of the year again. When some of the biggest names in the music industry come together in one room to celebrate one of the most prestige award in the music business, The GRAMMYs. That is still going strong even with it being 62 years down the road.

Among the usual candidates that we expect to see in the award’s nominations, we’re also introduced to a crop of fresh talents. Some require us to Google search about what they’ve done. So before the celebration start on 27th January 2020, let’s get to know more about some of these talented first time nominees:

1. Lizzo

The “Truth Hurts” singer is the most nominated singer in the upcoming GRAMMYs with eight in total. The most interesting of those nominations is for best new artist. This is because the 31-year-old has been in the industry for years, debuting with her album “Lizzobangers” back in 2013. But it seems she was only recognise via her newest album “Cuz I Love You”, that includes her hit single “Truth Hurts” that was actually released in 2017.

2. Billie Eilish

Being such a common name already, it’s hard to believe the California native is just receiving her first GRAMMYs nomination. But with the runaway success of her third and latest album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, GRAMMYs voters can ignore her no more. Thus, making her the youngest ever artist to receive nominations in all the major award categories at the age of just 17.

3. Lil Nas X

What a year the “Padini” singer has had; setting records with his hit single “Old Town Road” with country star Billy Rae Cyrus, winning multiple awards at the Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Country Music Association Awards. We can’t imagine him going home empty handed at the GRAMMYs.

4. Meek Mill

The 32-year-old rapper started his journey with the 2012’s album titled “Dreams and Nightmares”. Which lead him to a successful career, despite being thrown in jail for several years. His latest album released in November of last year, “Championships”, was nominated for best rap album of the year.

5. Maggie Rogers 

The singer first gain public notice in 2016, when a video of her playing her song “Alaska” caught the attention of Pharrell Williams. Her latest album “Heard It in a Past Life” has since blew up, giving her the nomination for best new artist category.

6. Ty Dolla $ign

The rapper, 34, has released a host of albums throughout his career and has now only received one Grammy nomination with the song “Midnight Hour” which he performed with Skrillex and Boys Noize.

7. Rosalía

The Spanish singer is quite a popular figure back in her home country, where she won multiple awards for the work she did in her two studio albums and countless singles. This is her first ever nominations as she is included in the list for best new artist and best latin rock, urban or alternative album.

8. Gucci Mane

The 39-year-old has a rap career that spans over 15 years with 15 albums, 7 EPs and 84 singles. But, his collaboration with fellow first-timer Lizzo in “Exactly How I Feel” has earned him his first Grammy nomination for best R&B performance.

9. The Cranberries

The Cranberries, the Irish band that is best known for their hit song “Zombie”, has just received their first Grammy nomination for their 2019 album “In the End”. The album includes vocals from the band’s former lead singer, Dolores O’Riordan, who tragically died in 2018.

10. Tyler Childers

This singer-songwriter has a unique brand of music mixing country, folk and blues genre into one. One of his recent song, “All Your’n”, was then singled out for a Grammy nomination for the category of best country solo performance.

11. Lewis Capaldi

Don’t be fooled by his looks as the British singer is just 23 and now has a Grammy nomination. His song “Someone You Loved” is set to compete with stars like Taylor Swift’s “Lover” for the song of the year category.

12. Maluma

The Latin pop star Columbia has his fair share of awards from Latin Grammy Awards in his career. His latest album “11.11” has earned him his first in the official Grammy for best Latin pop album.

Andy Lau (刘德华) made headlines this week after rumours circulated that he had a falling out with a younger star while on set.

China Press claimed that the 58-year-old actor was fed up with Chinese singer-actor Xiao Yang for behaving like a diva while filming their upcoming movie, “Sheep Without A Shepherd”.

The drama first started when the actors on set couldn’t nail a particular scene, much to the dissatisfaction of the director. This slowed production as the scene had to be filmed multiple times. As such, Xiao Yang allegedly drag the day longer when he kept reapplying his makeup.

Since production crew had to accommodate to the younger actor’s demands, Andy was left standing at the side with his props while everyone waited on Xiao Yang. This apparently pissed the seasoned star and a fight broke out. Some even claimed that the duo had to be pulled apart.

After the news caught fire, Xiao Yang issued a statement on his Weibo saying:

“Brother Hua (the nickname Lau is known for) has been an icon in the film industry. I am extremely grateful to have an opportunity to be in the same production as he is. What was described in the article, about me acting like a diva in front of a superstar, is not true at all.”

The studio has also come forth to deny the rumour saying that the viral clip of them ‘fighting” was taken during filming and is part of the movie’s plot, before adding that they can’t comment any further to protect the film’s storyline.

In case you missed it, an advertisement to promote a sex supplement for men has caused a major commotion among the internet community recently.

For those who don’t know, the 1-minute and 17-second clip shows a couple having a casual conversation about sexual intercourse.

As mentioned above, the video in turn has caused a quite an uproar among local netizens. In this case, most of them have slammed both the male and female actors for their sexually explicit approach in promoting the product.

Andika Putera – one of the actors in the clip – has since stepped in to clarify the whole issue by coming up with a lengthy statement on his Instagram. According to the fitness coach, the whole promotional video was merely for marketing purpose. He further added that both of them were provided with a script by the production team.

In addition, Andika claimed that both of them have received a substantial amount of payment for their appearance in the video. He then concluded the caption by saying, “Social media and real life are really really fake!” before advising everyone to “don’t easily jump to conclusions.”

Brenda Song might not be the biggest of household names but the 31-year-old actress has already taken up several major roles in popular films such as “Changeland”, “College Road Trip” and “The Social Network”. Her most notable portrayal is probably London Tipton in the “Sweat Life Of Zack And Cody” series.

So with a resume that extensive, you’s assumed that she would be a shoo-in for a place in the 2018 hit “Crazy Rich Asians”. Sadly, that is not the case at all.

According to the interview she did with Teen Vogue, the “Wendy Wu” actress revealed that she was denied a place in the flick due to her looks that was not Asian enough. The Disney star, being a fan of the original novel, was taken aback. “Their reasoning behind that, what they said was that my image was basically not Asian enough, in not so many words. It broke my heart,” said Californian.

She would later add, “I said, ‘This character is in her late to mid-20s, an Asian American, and I can’t even audition for it? I’ve auditioned for Caucasian roles my entire career, but this specific role, you’re not going to let me do it? You’re going to fault me for having worked my whole life?’ I was like, ‘Where do I fit?’”

Song’s comment spread like wild fire, and it didn’t take long before the director of the flick, Jon M. Chu, took notice of it. The 40-year-old then quickly took to Twitter to address the situation stating that he felt “horrible” the actress would think that.

“Would these words ever come out of my mouth?” he tweeted. “Nope. Makes no sense. I feel horrible she thinks this is the reason. The fact is I love Brenda Song and am a fan. I didn’t need her to audition because I already knew who she was!”

“I love @BrendaSong and that sucks if anything of that nature was ever communicated. It’s gross actually. The fact is, obviously I know who she is and didn’t need her to audition. I’m a fan of hers! Nothing more nothing less. Bums me out she thought it was anything but,” the director wrote.

No need to feel too bad for her though. The “Pure Genius” actress is actually doing alright for herself, with her getting the main role in Netflix’s “Secret Obsession”, and currently stars in a Hulu series called “Dollface” alongside Kat Dennings and Shay Mitchell.
