BTS’ Jimin Birthday Ad Reportedly Appeared In New Straits Times

BTS’ Jimin (박지민) just celebrated his 24th birthday with a new record-breaking achievement!

The boy group member reportedly became the first and only Korean to have a birthday support in a local newspaper. For those who missed it, his handsome face graced the page of New Straits Times yesterday (Sunday, 13th October).

The birthday message reads, “LIE is not an excuse as we PROMISE to love our SERENDIPITY forever”. “Serendipity” is a title of Jimin’s solo song that was included in the group’s “Love Yourself: Her” album.

Despite that, we can assure you that the Busan-born star is having his best birthday ever this year! Aside from being able to wrap their concert tour in Riyadh over the weekend, it’s also beeb reported that ARMYs had flooded Twitter with birthday messages.

As a result, the K-Pop idol was the first and only artist to take over all 20 hashtags and trending topics on the social media – trending from #1 to #20 all at the same time, as reported by AllKpop.

We hope it’s still not too late to wish Jimin a happy belated birthday!

Zedd Has Been Banned From China Over A Controversial Tweet

Zedd (real name Anton Zaslavski), the famous DJ known for “Clarity” and “Middle”, has been permanently banned from China, for liking a “South Park” tweet.

Last Friday (11th October), he took to social media announcing the ban, with a follow-up caption in his Instagram post, to confirm that the news was true.

In the same post, he also mentioned how the Chinese government threatened him and his crew in pulling their cultural permits if they do not cancel his shows in China. “Just clarify, this is NOT a joke. The government informed our promoters that if they don’t cancel my scheduled shows in China they would pull their cultural permits,” he wrote in the post.

The ban occured after the entertainer liked a tweet from the popular American series “South Park”, in which the animated series was also ban in China.

The ban for the Comedy Central series came following the series’ episode “Band In China” which featured criticisms on Chinese labor camps and of Hollywood’s dependency on China. Recently, the series celebrated its landmark 300th episode and they took the celebration to Twitter which, as it currently stands, has 15,000 likes including Zedd’s.

Although Zedd is technically banned in China, his music is still available on the music streaming site QQ streaming. Many fans in his social media have condemned the Chinese government action for this extreme act.

Oh No! Former f(x) Member Sulli Found Dead

Former f(x) member Sulli (설리) was reportedly found dead at in a house in Seongnam, South of Seoul.

The reports were confirmed by local police officers. According to local news outlets, the time of the death has been reported to be around 4pm KST (3pm local timezone).

According to the Seongnam Police Station, the singer-turned-actress’ dead body was found by her manager at the apartment’s 2nd floor at 4:30pm KST (3:30pm Malaysian time).

The police are currently investigating the details of the incident including whether the 25-year-old did wrote a suicide note. In addition, Sulli’s label SM has yet to come out with any official statement to address the situation.

Her sudden passing news immediately became a trending topic among K-Pop fans who took to Twitter to pay their respect and condolences to the former idol. Check out some of their heartfelt tweets below:

Sulli (real name Choi Jin Ri) debuted as a child actress with the period drama “The Ballad of Seodong” (2005) before she ventured into K-Pop music industry by becoming a member of multi-platinum girl group f(x) in 2009. However, she decided to depart from f(x) in 2014 citing hateful comments as the main reason that she quit the group.

Featuring a talented lin-ups of performers from all over Malaysia, which include Aidan Soloist, VIBES, McBE Duo and Double Aze, that will take to the pop-up Gazebo stage to provide the unforgettable mood of the event.

5. Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest, the German’s tradition that celebrates all things beers, have make its way to Malaysia and Genting certainly puts in the effort to present their own version of the Bulgarian fanfare.

The main attraction of the hall will be, of course, the beers. The event will have an upward of 19 different types of premium beers, with most served in premium Oktoberfest chilled beers in which some allow you to bring back home afterwards.

Not only that, the hall provides food to couple it with your beer, with hungry Oktoberfesters to feast on a variety of food from the exotic truffle sausages and kimchi hot dogs to the more common burgers and chicken wings – this venue has got you covered.

Beside the food and drinks, the hall itself is also a party fest as musical performances strike the stage with confirmed performers such as the Part III, Society of Souls, an Oompah Band and tribute bands to the Gypsy King, The Beatles and Queen.

For one evening only, Zouk Genting will take over the Oktoberfest Hall stage on 2nd November 2019 in a celebration of dance music as Starlight Carnival presents the first-ever Resorts World Genting Zouk Live!

K-pop Stars Cancel Events & Activities Because Of Sulli’s Death

A number of K-pop stars have decided to postpone or cancel their respective events and activities in the wake of Sulli (설리)’s death.

Among some of the big names that issued statements regarding the aforementioned include former f(x) bandmate Amber Liu, Super Junior, SuperM, BTOB’s Hyunsik, NFlying, Nu’Est, SF9’s Youngbin, Kang Daniel, Iz*One, actress Kim Yoo Jung, and more.

Amber tweeted out that “due to recent events I’ll be putting on hold my upcoming activities. Sorry everyone.” Super Junior, who just debuted their album “Time_Slip”, has postponed the release of their music video “SUPER Clap” to 17th October.

SuperM was supposed to pre-record their special show “SuperM: The Beginning” in Seoul at the SBS Public Hall while BTOB’s Hyunsik was scheduled to appear on V Live broadcast to promote his solo stuff. Both events have been cancelled.

Other cancelled events also include N.Flying’s press showcase for their new mini album, Kim Yoo Jung’s photo call event with LANEIGE as well as SF9’s Youngbin appearance on V Live broadcast.

Singers Kang Daniel and Iz*One have also opted to push back planned releases but did not specifically mention Sulli’s death.

SM Entertainment, Amber Liu & Other Celebs React To Sulli’s Passing

The industry recently received a shocking news about the sudden death of singer-actress Sulli (설리).

As mentioned before, the former f(x) member was found dead by her manager at a house in Seongnam, south of Seoul. The police also have confirmed the reports.

Yesterday evening (Monday,14th October), a representative from the SM Entertainment came out with an official statement to address the sad news.

The full statement reads:

“We’re sorry for conveying such sad and unfortunate news; Sulli has left our side. We cannot believe the current situation and we are just filled with grief. We kindly request for everyone to refrain from writing speculative articles or spreading rumours to pay respect for the family members who are grieving after the sudden news. We express our deep condolences.”

Fellow celebrities and friends of the late Sulli took to their social media account to pay their tribute and condolences upon receiving the unfortunate news.

Some of the artistes include former f(x) teammate Amber Liu, ex-KARA members Goo Hara, Park Gyuri and Kang Jiyoung, Ahn Jaehyun, AOA’s Mina, Girl’s Day’s Minah, U-KISS members Soohyun, Kevin and Jun and also solo songbirds Park Jimin and Sunmi, with the latter describing the former K-Pop idol as someone “elegant”. Check out some of their reactions below:

Glee’s Kevin McHale Joins “The X Factor: Celebrity” As Contestant

Kevin McHale received major applause over his emotional performance of Camilla Cabello’s track, “Nicotine”, which left many stunned on the reality-singing competition “The X Factor: Celebrity”.

The video of him shined a new light on the 31-years-old Texan native, but who exactly is this talented singer and why does he seems so familiar? Find out:

To answer the latter, Kevin is most recognisable when he got his biggest break when he stared in the hit television show “Glee”. There, he played the role of disabled student Artie Abrams.

Kevin McHale before “Glee” has already made many small appearance in the small screen before, such as his 2007’s guest appearance in the comedy series “The Office” (American version) and also the popular Nickelodeon’s teen drama “Zoey 101”.

2. After Glee Series

Since the season finale of “Glee” in 2015, he has tried his hand in the hosting business with “Virtually Famous” where he hosted from 2014 to 2016. In 2017, he acted as Bobbi Campbell – an AIDS activist – in a miniseries called “When We Rise.”

Besides the small screen, he has also taken roles in a couple of movie roles with 2011’s “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” and 2015’s “Boychoir”, where he played a young music teacher named Wooly.

Currently, he is one of four radio hosts for the show “Sick Of My Own Voice” on the digital radio station platform Dash Radio.

3. Music Career

Kevin first dabble in the music industry when he joined an American boyband NLT which stood for, Not Like Them, in 2006. The band once did the opening act for The Pussycat Dolls and stared in the movie “Bratz: The Movie”. The group later announced their disbandment in April 2009.

He also had a deal with Universal Music Group where he wrote music such as “Heartless” by Justin Throne. In April earlier this year, he released his pop song “Help Me Now”, which has actor Nolan Gould appearing in the music video.

6. She’s been crushing on Liam Hemsworth for a while

During her appearance on the “Zach Sang Show” last year, Brown played a game of F**k, Marry, Kill. The options were Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, and the Hemsworth brothers. Her response reads:

“I’m gonna kill Hugh Jackman and get that one right off the table. I’m gonna marry Margot Robbie because I would like to f**k her for life. And then I will f**k the Hemsworth brothers but at the same time, both of them.”

Twitter User Slammed For Malicious Comments About Sulli’s Death

Recently, a Twitter user using the tweethandle @xjun6k00k came under fire for posting a thread of unnecessary shade towards Sulli (설리)’s death news.

It all started when the netizen questioned on why Sulli trended on social media following her sudden passing. “Sulli died. So what? People die everyday so please girl you ain’t special,” the person wrote on Twitter.

The Twitter user – who used IKON’s former member B.I as the profile picture – then tweeted by saying, “Condolences to Sulli my ass, she did it for fame,” implying that she took her life away for the sake of fame.

In addition, the person took it the extreme way when he/she started to bring in K-Pop boy band BTS in the argument. The netizen sarcastically congratulated Sulli for trending #1 worldwide, but assured that “BTS is trending everyday so that’s really not a success”.

The person also brought up Twice member Mina’s current condition. For the uninitiated, the Japanese-born K-Pop star is struggling with anxiety disorder. The internet troll claimed that since Twice is a famous girl group themselves, there’s no need for Mina to eventually end her life for fame.

The posts have caused a massive uproar among K-pop fans online. Most of them took to Twitter to address the issue by asking their fellow followers to block and report the troll’s account.

Most of them felt that the fan was making fun of sensitive issues regarding suicide and self-harm. They also claimed that the person (most probably a BTS’ ARMY) was just being an attention seeker. Check out some their tweets here:

Richard Huckle: Paedophile Who Sexually Abuse Malaysian Children Stabbed To Death

One of Britain most prolific child offender, Richard Huckle, was found dead last Sunday, in Full Sutton Prison, near York, United Kingdom where he was serving out his life sentence.

Dubbed worst paedophile by British media, he was arrested in 2014 in the United Kingdom after months of investigation from an Australian detective unit. The unit discovered his activities in an encrypted room in the dark web where members would share pictures of child abuse and tips.

Around 20,000 images and video recording of child abuse victim were found in his hard drive, collected between 2006 and 2014. He later admitted to 71 accounts of sexual child abuse across Malaysia and Cambodia, and was ordered to serve 22 life sentences for his crimes, with a minimum of 25 years behind bars.

According to many British news sources, Huckle was believed to have been stabbed to death with a makeshift knife in prison; with a prison service spokesman confirming the death.

“HMP Full Sutton prisoner Richard Huckle died on 13 October,” the spokesman continued, “It would be inappropriate to comment further while a police investigation is ongoing.”

Using the pretext of being a photographer, English teacher and western philanthropist, Huckle was able to gain the trust of many of the more impoverished families before carrying out his abuse.

At the time, his arrest made headlines with many criticising Malaysia’s authorities for the failing of the arrest which prompted major reforms and additional laws added for child protection within the country.

Big Hit Entertainment To Sue Person Who Spread Jungkook’s Viral Dating Photo

Korean news portal YTN Sports reported that Big Hit Entertainment will be taking action on the case involving their artiste Jungkook (정국)’s alleged dating scandal to the court.

To refresh everyone’s memory, the 22-year-old was involved in a rumour with a tattooist known as Lee Mijoo (이미주) after photos of the couple were spread online.

Big Hit quickly came out with their statement – ultimately denying all the rumours and allegations. They also issued a warning that they’ll take legal action against the person responsible for spreading the photos.

The CCTV footage was believed to be leaked by an employee working at a local karaoke centre in Geoje Island. In addition, the tattoo artiste involved in the scandal revealed that she’ll be following the agency’s footsteps by bringing this case to the court as well.

The individual will be charged for defamation as well as violation of the Personal Information Protection Act. Big Hit responded to the reports by stating, “We don’t have anything else to say that’s different from our original statement.”

In the meantime, the multi-platinum group BTS successfully wrapped their concert tour in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this past weekend.

“Pose” Star Billy Porter To Play Fairy Godmother In “Cinderella” Remake

Meet your new Fairy Godmother, Billy Porter, as he has confirmed he will be taking over the role in an interview he did in New Yorker Festival.

The Hollywood Reporter reported last week that the Emmy-winning “Pose” actor was in talks with Sony over the “Cinderella” role. Then on, Saturday of the same week Porter confirmed, “I have a couple movies that I’m working on. I’m gonna be playing the fairy godmother in the new Cinderella movie with Camila Cabello”.

Camila Cabello is set to take on the iconic role, while the evil stepmother will be played by “Frozen” star Idina Menzel. The rest of the cast for the upcoming movie have yet to be announced as the entire movie is still in pre-production.

Billy, 50, started as a Broadway star and is best known for his role of Lola in the Broadway musical “Kinky Boots”, which got him a Drama Desk and Tony award for best actor.

He would later star in more television and movies with his most recent role of Pray Tell in FX’s series “Pose” that gotten him an Emmy-Award. This made him the first black gay person to do so.

Vin Diesel & Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Play New Marvel Characters?

These days, it’s a common occurrence for an actor to play multiple Marvel characters. Josh Brolin successfully portrayed Thanos in “Avengers” and Cable in “Deadpool 2”, proving that one doesn’t have to choose one or the other.

According to Comic Book Movie, it’s likely that 2 characters from Inhuman Royal Family could appear on the show. The 2 members reportedly are Black Bolt and Maximus. Vin Diesel, who has been campaigning to play Black Bolt, is being considered. He previously voiced Groot in “Guardians of the Galaxy” so audiences wouldn’t notice the difference.

Interestingly, Aaron Taylor-Johnson – who played Quicksilver in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” – is apparently Marvel’s top pick Maximus, Black Bolt’s brother. When “Ms. Marvel” hits the small screen, it’ll be 7-8 years since we saw him as the speedster.

Goo Hara Tearfully Addresses Sulli’s Death; Taeyeon & IU Postpone Comebacks

The recent news of Sulli (설리)’s passing has left a significant impact not only on K-fans worldwide, but also fellow celebrities and close friends of the former girl group member.

One of her closest friends, Goo Hara (구하라) left a tearful message for Sulli on her Instagram live video. In the clip, she was seen crying her heart out.

The ex-KARA member kept apologising for not being able to send her off during her funeral. For those who don’t know, Hara is currently busy with fulfilling her work commitments in Japan. As a result, she was unable to make it at Sulli’s private funeral back in Korea.

During the 2-minute video, she was in tears, saying, “Sulli, I can’t go back because I’m in Japan. I’m sorry that I can only greet you in this manner. Live well up there and do whatever you want. I will live hard and work hard for you.”

“For everyone’s information, Sulli and I are close friends – like sisters. I just want to say goodbye to Sulli, so I turned on this live broadcast. I’m really sorry, please don’t worry about me. Goodbye, Sulli,” the 28-year-old added in the clip.

Meanwhile, 2 more close sisters of Sulli – Taeyeon (태연) and IU (아이유) – have also decided to postpone their comeback in light of the recent unfortunate event. The 2 solo singers were scheduled to drop their teasers this week, but have decided to put on hold on the release beforehand.

Taeyeon’s label, SM Entertainment, came out with a statement that they will be postponing all promos for the Girls’ Generation member’s 2nd album “Taeyeon Vol. 2: Purpose”. The statement reads:

“The contents release for “Taeyeon Vol. 02 Purpose” that was scheduled for October 15 will be released after we reconfirm a new schedule. We ask for the fans’ generous understanding.”

IU’s agency revealed that that her upcoming mini album, “Love, Poem” will also be delayed. As a result, all scheduled events and promotions have been halted. But rest assured that new dates will be announced soon.

IU (real name Lee Jieun)’s agency, Kakao M came out with a full statement that reads:

“We are halting all pre-release content promotions for IU’s 5th mini-album “Love, Poem”. We will make a new announcement about the schedule and other news later on. We ask the fans who have been waiting a long time for her new album to understand the current circumstance. We express our condolences to Sulli and may she rest in peace.”

Jeremy Renner Claims Ex-Wife Sonni Pacheco Shared His Nudes

The battle continues for “Avenger” star, Jeremy Renner, as he dukes it out with ex-wife Sonni Pacheco in court over the sole custody of their daughter.

The divorced couple previously agreed upon a shared custody of their daughter Ava Berlin, 6, back in April 2015. After 4 years though, Pacheco changed her mind as she now wants sole custody, leaving Renner with only a monitored visitation.

Since then, the couple have engaged in a rather out of hand court case with the pair continuously trying to defame each. The latest claim was made by Renner who tells reporters that ex-wife Pacheco has shared nudes photo of him to their custody evaluator with her also threatening to send them to news organisation as well.

On the other hand, Pacheco had also made claims that she had gotten death threats from Renner, with the latter being high on drugs. In addition, she have also claim that Renner has a drug and alcohol problems.

To refute the allegation, Renner stated he has submitted himself random testing for the last three months to prove his innocence. Renner has also denied Pacheco’s death threat claims.

“The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy,” a rep for Renner wrote to Fox News in response to the allegations. “This is a matter for the court to decide. It’s official, Zoe Kravitz is your new Catwoman in the upcoming “The Batman” franchies reboot. Joining Kravitz, 30, will be Robert Pattinson who is set to play the new Cape Crusader in the Matt Reeves-directed movie.

As hype as we are with the news, we sometimes do wonder, what do the previous Catwomen think? Well wonder no more, as Anne Hathaway took to social media to let everyone know what she really thinks about the news.

Hathaway, of course, played the feline character back in 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises”. She congratulated the “Fantastic Beast” actress on her Instagram post, telling her to enjoy the ride. The Oscar winner wrote, “The biggest congrats to @zoeisabellakravitz on landing the role of a lifetime. Well, one life anyway… Enjoy the ride, Selena 💋 #Catwoman.”

Kravitz also received praise from her famous stepdad Jason Momoa, 40, who played the superhero “Aquaman”, who is coincidentally based in the DC cinematic universe as well. Unfortunately, no plans have been made for a potential crossover with new “Batman” movie with the “Aquaman” sequel.

Jam Hsiao Talks About Sulli’s Death & Cyber Bullying During OPPO Launch

It’s a fact – whenever Jam Hsiao (萧敬腾) makes his appearance in Malaysia, it rains.

The 32-year-old singer was in town last night (Tuesday, 15th October) for the launch of OPPO Reno2 Series. Although he was slightly under the weather, Hsiao was in good spirits as he greeted fans and the media during the event at Connexion Nexus Bangsar South.

Since the sudden death of Sulli (설리) has been dominating headlines this week, the pop star was asked to share his two cents on the matter. Since Hsiao is quite active on social media, he shared that criticism (on his work and personal life) is inevitable. As far as cyber bullying goes, it’s unfortunately an uphill battle.

The singer, who combed his long hair back and wore a grey checkered suit with matching pants, also shared that he has learned to accept that everyone has their own opinion. As a public figure, Hsiao shared that his years of being in the industry has thought him be mentally prepared.

“Who knows? Maybe one day in the future, people might end up disliking me and my work, but this is the business. As artists, we have to be prepared for the good and bad,” Hsiao candidly told us.

Since this was an OPPO event, we also put Hsiao on the spot by having him perform a short jingle for the phone brand. The Taiwanese entertainer also admitted he has been a long time fan of OPPO for years.

When asked about what advice would she give to the girls, the hijab entrepreneur responded by telling Hype, “My advice is very simple; For those who want to venture into the entertainment industry, it’s important for the girls to be real and stay true to themselves. Don’t try to be someone else.”

Additionally, it’s also revealed that the rules are now more strict. The organiser made the changes in order to prevent similar scandals and controversies from happening again. According to management editor Fiezreen Ahmad, the 12 competing contestants will be placed in a specially-equipped house throughout the contest period.

“The Top 12 finalists will be quarantined for 54 consecutive days in a special house. In addition, their activities on social media will be tightly monitored to avoid previous event (Haneesya Hanee case) to happen,” Fiezreen told mStar.

When asked about the newly launched OPPO Reno2 series, the “Kau Yang Terindah” actress was very excited about sharing her experience with the smartphone. “I have always been a fan of the Reno series, but the Reno2 is taking things to the next level. Whenever i’m travelling and I come across an image that captures my attention, all I have to do is swap out my Reno2,” said Neelofa during the event.

She further added her most favourite feature of OPPO Reno2. “For me I would say the ultra-steady video mode. I’ve tried the feature and I love it so much! I’ve seen the videos (caught using the special mode) where they shot it on a motorbike, and the outcome was amazing,” said Neelofa. She commented that the all-new feature works best for people with shaky hands, jokingly implying that she should get one for her manager.

The controversial singer commented on Cody Simpson’s new Instagram post, which sees him displaying his impressive chisel abs. You can also spot his new skull and crossbones line drawing on his right upper chest.

The lovebirds recently got new tattoos from celebrity tattoo artist Nico Bassill in Los Angeles. Cyrus’ new ink was a bleeding heart pierced with a knife on her left arm. She also tattooed the numbers 92 on her neck – which represents the year she was born (also the year of the monkey).

But what caught people’s attention was the steamy snapshot – a mirror selfie – of Cyrus sliding her right hand between Simpson’s pants and boxers. Netizens on Twitter weren’t feeling the vibe though.

“She is so trashy. Clearly, she feels the need to prove something to the world, but it’s getting old,” Kimberley Wright commented. “I honestly believe @MileyCyrus is bipolar, because it would completely explain her behaviour. She was batshit for a while, calmed down for a bit, then went batshit again. Classic #bipolar. Either that or she needed meds, started taking them, then stopped. It seems very obvious,” another added.
