In 2000, one of the most influential kung fu movies of modern times became the highest-grossing foreign language film in American history despite the fact that it was shot entirely in Mandarin. The movie, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, which stars Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-Fat and Malaysian-born actress Michelle Yeoh went on to win four 2001 Academy Awards after being nominated in 10 categories.

Michelle Yeoh was also nominated for best leading actress in the BAFTA as well as the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards.

Word has it that the 49-year-old actress will be returning to star in the sequel of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”. According to Hong Kong media, Michelle Yeoh confirmed it herself last Wednesday during a promotional event in Beijing.

The sequel will be based on “Iron Knight, Silver Vase”, the final book of the Crane Iron series penned by the late Wang Du Lu. It will go into production in May and is expected to be completed in 2014. It was also said that the original movie’s Oscar-award winning director, Ang Lee, would not be involved this time.

And that’s..about all we know for now. We’ll update with more details as soon as we know. Meanwhile, you go, Datuk Seri Michelle Yeoh!
