Fans of the Korean girl group were recently thrown into shock and disbelief as Korean media outlet Sports World reported that BEG would be disbanding.

Multiple industry insiders told Sports World that the group is currently undergoing the process of disbandment as Gain is no longer working under Nega Networks. The media outlet further explained that she has joined Mystic Entertainment (A POP Entertainment) to focus on her solo career.

It was also rumoured that JeA, Narsha, and Miryo will leave the group as their contracts with their talent agency have expired. The report then went on to say that Gain’s current agency attempted to recruit the remaining members, but the plan did not carry through due to differences in opinions. Furthermore, Nega Networks is said to be having “extreme financial difficulties”, making it impossible for the group to release an album.

After the report surfaced, JeA took to her personal Twitter account to debunk the disbandment rumour:

Translation:

Fans were probably taken aback by the absurd news. We’re preparing our album right now, what is this? It’s more absurd as the article was so detailed. Even if that day comes, we will tell you ourselves, not like this.

Nega Networks also denied the baseless claims and stated, “We’ve never talked about it, and it isn’t even worth responding to. The group has events scheduled in July and August. We are working on their next album. This is nonsense.

Mystic Entertainment, parent company of Apop, also commented:

It’s the first time hearing about us recruiting the rest of Brown Eyed Girls. We’ve never even discussed this.

Earlier, a representative of the group’s agency confirmed in March that “the new album production will speed up” after Gain ends her solo promotions. The reps further stated that “it is very likely that it will be their 10-year anniversary album”.
