Willow Smith is officially too cool for school. At the age of 14, the singer certainly inherited some talent and creativity from her parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Whether it’s her voice or her style, the music video that she co-directed for her latest single, “F Q-C #7″ (read: “Frequency 7″), is insanely stunning.
Just 2 weeks ago, the 14-year-old musician debuted the song exclusively on Tidal, an online music streaming service owned by Jay-Z. The track alone is enough to leave us in awe of her creative presence, especially with her strong, raspy vocal. It further proved that she is still very much in love with music, despite having slowed down her output since the release of her singles “Whip My Hair” and “21st Century Girl” in 2010.
In an interview with The Fader, Willow explained that the colourful clones in the new music video represent her “Chakras”. She said:
The different Me’s represent my Chakras. Yellow is Self-confidence, Blue is my voice (song), Red is my survival instinct, and the Black is a combination of everything (the true me).
She also revealed that Girlpool, tUnE-yArDs, and Cree Summer are her inspirations when she was producing this track, which is a far cry from “Whip My Hair”.
