#FrenchFestivalMY: French Art & Film Festival Returns Bigger & Better Than Ever

From “Serial (Bad) Weddings” to “Beauty and the Beast” to “The Finishers”, these are just some of the films that you can expect from the 14th edition of French Art & Film Festival in Malaysia.

Organised by the Alliance Française and the Embassy of France in Malaysia, the festival is supported by the Institut Français. It will once again thrill audiences in the Klang Valley and Penang by continuing in its yearly celebration of the arts as a platform for cultural exchange.

During a press conference, the organisers revealed the 2015 programme for the month-long celebration of French culture. Malaysian-based audiences can participate in a series of activities, which includes film screenings, a travelling photography exhibition, and gastronomy tastings. live dance and music performances. A total of 4 live shows in the categories of music, dance, and DJ will be presented by French artists around Kuala Lumpur as well.

Regarding the festival, Mr Jean-Piere Galland, Cultural Counsellor at the French Embassy in Malaysia said:

We see this festival as a shared yearly project with our various partners. We are very lucky to have the continued support of our sponsors, as it is with their participation that we are able to eagerly share what French culture has to offer. We are truly honoured to also have the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, and we hope our French Festival will contribute to the success of the national campaign for the Year of Festivals Malaysia 2015.

The festival will see a continuation in partnership with Martell as presenting sponsor, with the globally-renowned cognac house celebrating its 300th anniversary this year. Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) also boarded as the film festival partner. The festival will be bringing a network of French and local partners and sponsors to the forefront as well.

Last year, the festival attracted as many as 8,000 spectators, including around 6,000 viewers for the film festival alone. Fans of the festival are made up of people with different backgrounds and ages, including Malaysians as well as French and international citizens residing in Malaysia.

The much-awaited French Art & Film Festival 2015 will begin from 14th May to 16th June in Klang Valley, and from 4th to 14th June in Penang.
