All good things must come to an end.

While Bryan Singer‘s “X-Men” series has been lauded as one of the best superhero series in recent times, it has been rumoured that “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “Wolverine 3” will be the last movies to have any connections with the universe conceptualised by Singer.

The rumour originated from Umberto Gonzalez, who is a former Latino Review reporter. He stated that the 2 aforementioned movies will “mark the end of the Bryan Singer X-Men universe he started back in 2000″, which could mean 2 things: Singer will either step down as director, or any links to the movies directed or produced by him will be completely wiped off the slate.

If 20th Century Fox does indeed intent for the series to start anew, it is possible that it will still have links to “X-Men: First Class”, which was meant to be a soft reboot of the franchise.

Hugh Jackman has previously announced that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be his last appearance as Wolverine. In addition, Jennifer Lawrence admitted that she will be leaving the series in an interview with “MTV News”. The departures seemed to be a foreshadow of the unconfirmed claims.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” will also bring in a huge bunch of new and young casts, such as Olivia Munn, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Sophie Turner. Meanwhile, Ian Mckeller, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Bryne, and Lucas Till will be reprising their roles.

Singer has directed “X-Men”, “X-2″, “X-Men: First Class”, “X-Men: Days of Future Past“, and will also be directing the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse”.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is slated to play in cinemas on 27th May 2016.
