Brace yourselves for a night at the museum!

It goes without saying that techno has played an extensive role in electronic music’s affluence as a genre. Frankfurt-based DJ, producer and club owner Andrea Tomalla, more commonly known by his stage name Talla 2XLC, has come up with a plan to educate both local and foreigners on the genre’s history by building a museum.

Self-funded, the Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM), is slated for a 2017 opening and will provide interactive exhibitions that will educate visitors about instruments, technology, clothing, graphic design and the “global movement”. Apart from just educating fans, MOMEM will also play host to DJ workshops and other live events on a regular basis.

The space, which is inside Frankfurt’s Children’s Museum, was leased to MOMEM by the city for free, but the museum itself will be self funded. In order to build interest and raise funds for MOMEM ahead of the opening, the launch has launched the MOMEM Supporter Club, which allows for early bird members to immediately be involved in the project.

MOMEM will be the second techno museum in the world, after Detroit’s Exhibit 3000.
