The wait is over, “Star Wars” fans.
Lucasfilm has finally released a new teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sci-fi film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“. It was released to coincide with the “Star Wars Celebration”, a 4-day “Star Wars” fan gathering held in California this week.
The force is rather strong in the new trailer because it finally featured Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew, who returned to reprise their respective roles as Han Solo and his old friend Chewbacca.
“Chewie, we’re home,” the old Solo said to Chewbacca, who responded to him with his signature roar. There’s no way we don’t feel sentimental about this because Ford and Mayhew last appeared in a “Star Wars” film in 1983.
More than 30 years later, they finally made their triumphant return to the franchise via the first film in the planned 3rd “Star Wars” trilogy. Of course, they aren’t the only original cast members to return to the film series as Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker will also return.
The new trailer featured the old Luke Skywalker, who narrated most of the video to describe how strong the force is in his family. It offered us a glimpse at the ruined Darth Vader mask, as well as a new look at Kylo Ren’s “tri-saber”. The tri-saber was featured in the first teaser trailer back in November 2014.
Though his face was not shown, Skywalker, who lost his hand in the famous duel with his father, also appeared in the video when he placed his new robotic hand on the much-loved android, R2D2.
According to Abrams, “Jakku” is the name of the desert planet where Finn, Rey, and BB-8 were introduced in the trailer:
Official spelling for the new #StarWars desert planet is #Jakku — Abrams says you'll "learn a lot more" about it today.

The official synopsis of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has yet to be released, but the story is set around 30 years after the events of 1983’s “Return of the Jedi”. Oscar Isaac is joining the film to portray Poe Dameron, an elite pilot who has been sent on a mission.
Directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan. The previous film in what was a 6-movie series, “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith”, was released in 2005.
