Alex Boye & The Dancing Grannies prove it’s never to old to get your funk on.
Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s hit single “Uptown Funk” was so hot that it got everyone dancing along to it, including a group of spirited senior citizens. Singer Alex Boye recreated the 80s vibe, energy-filled dance-evoking music video featuring a few changes in the lyrics, new locations and of course, funky grandparents!
The video sees Boye channeling his inner funky Mars as he’s dressed in a salmon blazer and a white bowler hat, while being supported by a group of seniors who act as his flash mob of funky fresh backup dancers.
The parody video also includes shots of Boye cruising down the street with an electric scooter and a group of elderlies line-dancing inside a club. Boye also tells viewers to “get out there and have face-to-face conversations” as the video comes to an end.
“All the grandmas and grandpas in this video did their own stunts,” Boye wrote in the YouTube description. “They range in age from 65-92! Between them, they have raised 500 children, 1,200 grandchildren, and 250 great grandchildren!!!”
