On Sunday (1st Feb), pop icon Katy Perry made her entrance into the Super Bowl XLIX half-time show on a giant tiger operated by hidden puppeteers while belting out to her hit single, “Roar”. It officially marked what would later be known as mini concert with a high-octane showcase of Katy’s medley of hits. In fact, her Super Bowl stint saw guest appearances from other chart-toppers such as rapper Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz (who joined in to rock a duet of “I Kissed A Girl”).

A performances of that reputation and that size saw the support of her fans and well-wishers alike, including the likes of her ex-boyfriend Russell Brand, who promised baffled Brits that the half-time show would be “amazing”.

He even took to Twitter prior to the show to say:

KP we mean Katy Perry’s gig also included backing dancers and three wardrobe changes, as well as a memorable “left shark”, before the half-time show came to an end with Katy singing “Firework” as actual pyrotechnics exploded and dazzled above her. Even if you weren’t a fan of the pop star, it’s a little hard to hate on her performance as she navigated through it seamlessly without as much as losing her breath or momentum.

Some might say that the flashy patterned costumes, the psychedelic setup, and the trippy dancers seem a little tacky but wait, this is Katy Perry that we’re talking about anyway. All is forgiven! :D

Also, her “left shark” friend gave us something even more to remember Katy’s Super Bowl stint by when he/she/it looked like he/she/it forgot to practice the needed dance moves, fumbled through more than half of “Teenage Dream”, casually flapped his/her/its way adorkably out-of-sync with the song, but still won us all over.

“Left shark” aka #LeftShark became such a Super Bowl XLIX hit and an Internet sensation that even Snoop Dogg himself wanted the limelight:

And if this post hasn’t been filled with enough goodness yet, here’s the best part of it all!

The “California Gurls” singer marked the occasion by having “XLIX” (the Roman numerals for 49, marking the 49th Super Bowl) tattooed on one of the fingers of her right hand. She posted pictures of the tattooing process up on Instagram and captioned it, “I thought it would be appropriate to draw blood tonight.”
