Rumours were going around about who will don the Dark Knight costume in the upcoming un-titled “Man of Steel” sequel and news just broke that Ben Affleck is set to play Batman opposite Henry Cavill in the movie directed by Zack Snyder. Warner Bros. announced the news on Thursday also revealing that the movie will open worldwide on July 17, 2015.
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduring popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill and then some,” said Greg Silverman, president of creative development and worldwide production for Warner Bros. in a statement that was posted on Warner Bros. Facebook page. Silverman also added, “His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”
Affleck and Warner Bros. have been in good terms as the 41-year-old actor/director starred and directed both “The Town” and “Argo” for the studio. “Argo”, won Best Picture at the Oscars in February. This is not the first time for Affleck donning a superhero costume as the actor played Daredevil in the 2003 Marvel film “Daredevil. “ Zack Snyder is set to begin production on 2014 and other stars that will be joining Affleck and Cavill are Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
Not too sure if we’re excited but Affleck has got lots to live up to the role as Christian Bale played a fantastic dark ominous Batman in the last trilogy written and directed by Christopher Nolan.
We’re pretty sure the DC Comics fans are upset! What do you think?
