Seems like a fight to the finish! Celebrity pop-diva Katy Perry has dropped her latest single “ROAR“, about the same time as Lady Gaga’s “APPLAUSE.” Streaked with their unusual marketing strategies, both the singers have released their singles of their upcoming albums, available for digital download.
According to Billboard Online, the two singles may be in the running to make history as the most downloaded digital song sales, boasting figures of up to 400,000+ downloads within its first week. The final tally is set to be released on August 21st.
Katy Perry tried to get the attention by hiring a gold truck to drive around Los Angeles in promotion for her upcoming album, Prism.
Lady Gaga however, teamed up with famous performance artist Marina Abromovic to film a performance art video of herself yelling and rubbing crystals on her nude body.
Both songs are featured in their new studio albums. Katy Perry’s “Roar” leads her “Prism” set, due out in October, whilst Gaga’s “Applause” is the first single from her much anticipated artsy-album “ArtPop,” which arrives on November. Who do you think is gonna make it big?
