“Where romance meets finance”, its tagline reads.

Have you heard of TheSugarBook? It’s essentially a website that opens up possibilities for “Sugar Relationships” aka a relationship where both parties define what they want in a relationship in exchange for financial support. Most times this consists of a male/female who are eligible of financial backing in exchange for love and companionship.

Source: Google

First launched in December 2016, the website, which promises to be “a nice social networking platform where likeminded consenting adults can connect and form mutually beneficial Sugar Relationships in a safe online environment” currently has an approximately 55,000 active members and it is continuously growing. TheSugarBook also champions “honesty and transparency when it comes to developing Sugar Relationships”.

Here are some staggering facts about TheSugarBook that you probably weren’t aware of:

  • According to TheSugarBook, of the estimated members on the platform, around 70% are female Sugar Babies between the age of 19 – 35 years old and mainly university students and single mothers and divorcees.
  • The Sugar Daddies (usually are well established wealthy individuals who are driven and enjoy “the finer things in life”) range from 30 – 48 years old, with an annual income average of USD150,000 (over RM500,000).
  • The top 5 countries where their members are from Malaysia, Philippines, United States, Singapore, and India.
  • Anyone above the age of 18-years old can register for an account on TheSugarBook for free and female Sugar Babies who sign up with their college or university email gets an auto-upgrade to Premium Sugar Baby.
  • For a small fee, Sugar Daddies can also enjoy the Premium features where they have the privilege of unlimited messages, see who favourites you or has viewed your profile, advanced search filter and many more.

And that’s not all. They’ve also recently launched their iOS and Android app, which claims to help members “build legitimate relationships with benefits” that much easier. Interestingly, the app was developed by one Endeavor Standard Sdn. Bhd. located somewhere in Petaling Jaya, Selangor – yes, a Malaysian company.

Good News DC Fans! #JusticeLeague Sequel Details Revealed

Justice League” is not even out in theatres yet and there are already discussions about the “Justice League” sequel.

It was recently revealed that Warner Bros. is already working on the script for the next instalment. This news comes after it was announced that the upcoming DC film will have a runtime of 121 minutes, instead of the previously rumoured 3-hour duration.

Justice League Sequel
Source: Reddit

It was originally intended for “Justice League: Part 1” and “Justice League: Part 2” to be a 2-part story. However, plans were shelved to make way for a standalone Batman movie and each “Justice League” instalment would also be standalone. “Justice League” officially bring the world’s finest heroes – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg – together for the first time on the big screen.

Many assumed that Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips, would be battling the Justice League in their first mission. But it looks like the studio may be holding him out for “Justice League 2” and audiences will just have to be content with Steppenwolf. In speaking with Total Film, J.K. Simmons (Commissioner James Gordon) gave a tease on what we can expect in the sequel.

Well, Commissioner Gordon wears a trench coat in every scene, so I don’t know that the ‘pumped up’ part is going to be all that evident, especially when you’re standing next to Batman! But this is the first ‘Justice League’ movie – we hope – of a few,” the 62-year-old Oscar-winning actor told the publication.

He added, “They’re working on scripts for ‘The Batman’ and for the next ‘Justice League’ movie. It introduces my incarnation of Commissioner Gordon. I don’t have a lot to do. I feel like I just dipped my toe in the water of who Commissioner Gordon will be.” Judging from what the seasoned actor said, it’s likely that he will be reprising his role Commissioner Gordon for at least 2 more DC films.

It’s true, YB Khairy Jamaluddin has quite the snarky streak on social media.

A couple of days ago, the Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister took to his personal Instagram to share a beautiful shot of Cat Bells fell in the Lake District, UK. While the post has since garnered more than 100 comments and over 22,000 likes in just 3 days, it also attracted some unwanted attention from an Instagram product promoter.

Source: Instagram

The promoter wrote, “Want to be taller? Come take a look at our Instagram”, adding their WhatsApp and WeChat contacts to the comment. The product (which comes in a range of tea sachets, softgel vitamins, calcium powder, spirulina capsules, so on and so forth) supposedly helps people gain from 2cm to 10cm in height in 10 days. The promoter also boldly claimed that it’s “100% effective”.

But Khairy would have none of it. He replied to the comment, writing, “Please don’t promote your fake sh*t on my Instagram. No product can make adults taller. It’s a con job and I am going to report you to Kementerian Kesihatan (the Health Ministry).” Khairy went on to add, “Plus you chose the wrong person lah. I’m 182cm tall. Almost 6ft.”

It’s time to mark those holiday dates on your calendar. We previously unveiled the 2018 calendar with the latest updates on the 2018 public holidays in Malaysia. Guess what? We now have the school term dates and holidays.

This would certainly come in handy for families with children still in school. There are 4 long school holidays throughout 2018, 2 on each term. So whether you and your family are planning to travel within the country or overseas, it’s never too early to start planning.

Although the Ministry of Education (MOE) is responsible for setting the term dates and holidays for all schools across the country, it’s important to note that certain dates may vary between the state or territory you’re living in.

The graphs (below) are broken into 2 categories – Group A and Group B. Group A are the states that have Friday and Saturday as their weekend. They are Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu. On the other hand, Group B are those that have Saturday and Sunday as their weekend (which are all the remaining states).

The dates highlighted in yellow are the long school holidays that fall on the 1st term, mid-term, 2nd term, and year-end.

*Do also note that these dates are preliminary and may change in 2018.

They are so #relationshipgoals!

Back in August, “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds a.k.a The King of Trolling, naturally trolled his wife Blake Lively on her birthday. Blake Lively, who turned 30 on the 25th of August, was cropped out of the birthday tribute photo on Instagram, leaving only a huge portion of Ryan Reynold’s face visible on the post. “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife,” the caption read.

The photo has since garnered over a million likes.

However, Blake Lively got her revenge yesterday when her snarky husband turned 41. The former “Gossip Girl” star trolled her husband back by posting a picture of him and Ryan Gosling – and she cropped out the former in the post. “Happy Birthday, baby,” Blake Lively wrote, with a clear shot of Ryan Gosling’s face, while Ryan Reynold’s face is barely visible in the birthday tribute post.

Motorists, you may want to avoid parking illegally especially when you are in Petaling Jaya.

In an effort to curb illegal parking and improve traffic flow, the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) has introduced a new technology that utilises real-time cameras and is equipped with loudspeakers. These improved CCTVs (closed-circuit television) are situated at various locations around Petaling Jaya.

You may know him as one of the members from Taiwanese boyband Fahrenheit (飛輪海), but did you know Wu Chun (吴尊) once had an opportunity to become a prince in real life?

During his appearance on the reality show “Where Are We Going, Dad?”, the 38-year-old star revealed that his nickname, “Prince of Brunei”, did not happened by accident and there is actually some truth to it.

Wu Chun
Source: Facebook

The actor-singer, who is the nephew of Brunei MP Goh King Chin, came from a privileged and wealthy family when he was growing up in Brunei. Wu Chun revealed that the royal family, who had adopted many kids in the past, also extended an offer to adopt him when he was a child.

However, he shared that his father declined a hefty sum from the King’s sister at the time; a decision he feels very grateful for. “It’s fortunate that my father said no, because compared to being a prince and living a wealthy life, I would rather live with my own family,” the Fahrenheit member was quoted as saying.

Wu Chun

Wu Chun and his childhood sweetheart Lin Liying got married in 2009. They welcomed their daughter, Nei Nei (Wu Xinyi), in 2011 and their son Max in 2013. When asked if he would ever allow anyone to adopt his own children, the entertainer replied that he would “fight to his death” for them.

So there you have it folks – the story behind the “Prince of Brunei”.

#ThorRagnarok Features Marvel’s First LGBT Character In A Movie

It’s been confirmed that “Thor: Ragnarok” features Marvel’s first openly LGBT(QI) character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Actress Tessa Thompson – who plays the elite fighter/sarcastic alcoholic Valkyrie – recently took to Twitter to verify that her superhero character is indeed bisexual. This came after a moviegoer expressed his disappointment at Valkyrie’s “typical sexless Marvel tomboy” look. This prompted another fan to defend the female character.

Thor Ragnarok LGBT
Source: Marvel

Valkyrie in the comics is a big ole lesbian so I doubt she would give your opinion any thought,” the fan wrote. Thompson, however, corrected the fan by commenting, “She’s bi. And yes, she cares very little about what men think of her. What a joy to play!”

Having said that, there is no actual evidence of Valkyrie’s bisexuality in the film. “Val is Bi in the comics and I was faithful to that in her depiction,” she explained in a separate tweet. “But her sexuality isn’t explicitly addressed in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.” Regardless the 34-year-old star’s character is still a total cinematic badass.

As comic book fans may know, Valkyrie’s sexuality has been established in the comics for years. She has been involved with both men (Thor and Agent Venom) as well as women (archaeologist Annabelle Riggs). In the film, we do see flashbacks of Valkyrie fighting alongside her fellow female warriors. However, the main narrative of this movie sees her developing friendships with Thor and Hulk.

In addition to Valkyrie, there has also been LGBT(QI) representation on the small screen. Juan Pablo Raba’s Joey Gutierrez (a metal-melting Inhuman from Agents of “S.H.I.E.L.D.”) and Carrie-Ann Moss’s Jeri Hogarth (a fierce lawyer from “Jessica Jones”, “Daredevil”, and “The Defenders”) are both gay.

Netizens Outraged Over The Capture & Mistreatment Of An Endangered Malayan Tapir

Which ultimately led to its death 😭

Malaysian Facebook user Khairul Azri took to his profile to share several pictures and a video of an incident whereby a Malayan tapir was in the process of being captured by some authorities.

Source: Facebook

According to Khairul, the JPAM (Malaysian Civil Defence Force) and the BOMBA (Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia) were called in to help capture (and hopefully rescue/release?) the said Malayan tapir, which had accidentally run into the Taman Desa Saujana Langat neighbourhood in Hulu Langat late Tuesday (24th October 2017) night. To his dismay, the authorities’ handling of the gentle, herbivorous animal ultimately led to its death.

In his Facebook post, Khairul explained that the said Malayan tapir was strangled with what looks like a rope, as if it was a sacrificial animal. After a brief struggle, it died. Khairul even uploaded a video of the Malayan tapir, clearly alive and struggling to free itself from the rope’s restraint.

Khairul’s post has since gone viral, garnering over 5,800 shares in under 24 hours. However, the worst was yet to come.

According to Khairul, the animal’s carcass was then left by the roadside, and when morning came, it was discovered that it had been mutilated. “Its nose and ears were mutilated. I don’t know why they did that,” he wrote in his caption. From his picture, it also looks like someone had attempted to skin the animal. Khairul also noted that PERHILITAN (the Department of Wildlife and National Parks) only arrived that morning, about 12 hours after the incident, to collect the carcass.

Netizens are, of course, up in arms over the incident. “This is the result of deforestation, to the point where another life is forced out to seek food and shelter. It died and then it was abandoned. Where did the brains of these humans go? It’s sad to watch the tapir die when it wanted to live. It’s a protected species,” Syaza Amani wrote. “I watched the video. Really sad. I can’t imagine such a sweet animal treated this way. Why??? Who is responsible for this. Please seek justice. So cruel and really unacceptable. Please….😭,” Sylvia Ben commented.

For the uninitiated, the Malayan tapir, also called the Asian tapir, is the largest of the 5 species of tapir and the only one native to Asia. Its numbers have decreased in recent years, and today, there are only approximately 1,100 Malayan tapirs left. The main threat to the Malayan tapirs is human activity, including deforestation for agricultural purposes, flooding caused by the damming of rivers for hydroelectric projects, and illegal trade.

There’s even a “World Tapir Day” (read: #TapiTapir) which aims to raise awareness that our local tapirs are in danger of extinction.

Wikipedia also notes that Malayan tapirs have very poor eyesight, making them rely greatly on their excellent sense of smell and hearing to go about in their everyday lives.

They have small, beady eyes with brown irises (often covered in a blue haze, which is corneal cloudiness thought to be caused by repetitive exposure to light) on either side of their faces. This causes the Malayan tapir to have very inadequate vision, both on land and in water. Tapirs are also most active at night and since they have poor eyesight, it is harder for them to search for food and avoid predators in the dark.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Enviroment of Malaysia, YB. Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi Bin Tuanku Jaafar, has since responded, releasing a statement on his Facebook page to confirm that he has instructed Director General of PERHILITAN to investigate the incident and make the necessary police reports.

In the day and age where it seems like so many people you know have been to Bali and experienced the usual “sights and sounds” e.g. Tahan Lot, Kuta beach, the rice terraces, Uluwatu Temple, Ubud, so on and so forth, you’d be hard-pressed to find out-of-the-ordinary things to do on the Indonesian island.

Even the whole private/luxury villas experience has be done over and over. And you’ve probably heard the same old story again and again. So if you think that Bali is overrated, that’s because you haven’t been told about Hideout Bali, an eco bamboo home that promises an “off-grid life” and of course, total relaxation.

Located in Selat, Bali, the unique eco stay is perfect for adventurous travellers as it is hidden in the mountains. The all-bamboo house is situated right next to a beautiful river, among rice fields. There, visitors will be able to escape the hustle and bustle of the “party island Bali” and touristy areas, and truly immerse in the authentic rustic Balinese village life. In fact, Hideout Bali promises total solitude as the nearest village is about 500 metres away.

Built and handcrafted in 2015 with the support of many local workers, the bamboo home welcomes long-time travellers, lovers of nature, spiritual-minded people, trekking-lovers, backpackers, artists, musicians, and eco-enthusiasts. Surrounded by lush greenery that’s pleasing to the eye, the 1-bedroom home has large windows that opens up to the beautiful vista.

Hideout Bali promises to calm your senses, and allow you to soak in the good vibes and energy. If you love yoga, then this gem of a place will really compliment your spiritual journey and nourish your soul. Be warned though, the accommodation has no air-conditioning but thanks to it’s bamboo structure (bamboo is well-known for its temperature stability) and natural ventilation, there’s no need for that.

There’s also a bean bag and a hammock that visitors can lounge in to sing, write, meditate, chill, play board games, you name it. And doesn’t that bed motivate you to do absolutely nothing all day?

Oh, but be prepared to put your gadgets away as you may face poor Internet/data connection due to Hideout Bali’s location but hey, what’s an “off-grid experience” if there was high speed broadband of 4G/LTE eh? Psst! Pet-loving short stay tenants will also be pleased to know that Hideout Bali has residents catties and doggos to render you completely giddy with love 😉

Interested? Check out hideoutbali’s Instagram for more information or hit up their Airbnb listing to book.
