The “Tomb Raider” reboot comes 15 years after Angelina Jolie brought the popular video game adventure to the big screen. The new version, however, sees Alicia Vikander as an ordinary 21-year-old living in London.

This is not the you know. For one thing, it’s her weapon of choice. The climbing ax in the poster, which can be used as a weapon when necessary, is a subtle Easter egg tease to the 2013 “Tomb Raider” game that rebooted the franchise. Also, Vikander’s neck is exceptionally long here.
We see the heroine looking over her shoulder with an emotion of somewhere between mild frustration and grim determination. Dressed in a sleeveless top and jeans, her right cheek is slashed and bleeding while her long brunette hair is in a tangled mess. Another thing we noticed is that “Tomb Raider” logo has an arrow across it, because you know, Lara Croft is all about old-fashioned weaponry.

“Tomb Raider” finds Lara Croft haunted by the death of her archaeologist father (played by Dominic West), but she soon sets out on a dangerous mission to find him. “She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits, but we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought (her father) was a stuck up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning,” the Oscar-winning actress told Entertainment Weekly.
Warner Bros. Pictures has released a teaser for the trailer (which will debut tomorrow), because that’s how Hollywood do things these days. We’ll update the film’s first trailer when it premieres, but for now, enjoy the 15-second clip here:
After recent speculation of her growing baby bump, Nora Danish has officially confirmed that she’s 3 months pregnant. This joyous news comes almost 6 months after the Malaysian actress tied the knot with Nedim Nazri at Glasshouse in Seputeh.
“My husband and I were overjoyed when we found out. I’m also taking precautions as advised by my doctor as the pregnancy is still in its early stages,” the 35-year-old star told Berita Harian Online.
She also shared that her career will take a backseat for the time being. “At my age, anything may happen so I’ve got to be more careful. I will also be taking it slow with my career, as advised by my doctor and husband. For now, I’m just focusing on keeping a healthy pregnancy,” Nora added.
In addition to Laudya Cynthia Bella and Engku Emran’s wedding, fans have been taking note of Nora loose fitting outfits during the family’s recent Europe tour to Switzerland and Canada. The couple was also last seen together at Dato Rabins and Datin Bhavanis’ wedding at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur hotel.
For those that don’t know, this is the 2nd marriage for both Nora and Nedim. Nora was previously married to Rizal Ashram Ramli (Jejai) while Nedim was married to Nabilah Khan. They both have a son each from their former marriages – namely Putera Rayqal, 8, and Mohamed Nedrin, 6, respectively.

In the biographical drama, “Stronger”, Gyllenhaal stars as the real-life Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman. During a recent Facebook Live session, Gyllenhaal and Bauman, who developed a real friendship over the course of the film, sat down for a candid interview with each other.
During the interview, the duo talked about their favourite Boston movies and places to eat. The topic then shifted to Gyllenhaal’s former flame, whom he briefly dated in 2010. “If you lost your legs in real life, do you think Taylor Swift would write a song about it?” asked Bauman. Gyllenhaal responded, “For me, or about it?”. “For you. Like a country song,” Bauman said, to which the A-lister replied, “She sort of moved more into pop now.”

Late yesterday (Monday, 18th September), it was confirmed that Toys R Us Inc, the largest US toy store chain, had officially filed for bankruptcy. This comes just as the toy retailer is gearing up for the upcoming holiday season.

So will the Toys R Us outlets in our country be affected? New Straits Times recently reached out to a few employees in Malaysia on the current situation. “The rumours about store closure have been going on for weeks. Since there is still no official notice, I will just continue my work as usual,” store supervisor Qeela was quoted as saying.
“I think these are just rumours as we have not been notified. If it’s true, it would be bad news for us. We would have to find new jobs. I will wait until the management gives us notice. It’s not fair for them to just sit on the news and not inform the employees,” another employee named Linda commented. She also added that there are at least 10 workers in each Toys R Us store.

Despite the confirmation, Toys R Us Asia has released a statement clarifying that the company is a separate legal entity and is financially independent from Toys R Us Inc. “Toys R Us (Asia) is open for business and continuing to serve our customers as we always do. We are a financially robust and self-funding retail operation, which continues to significantly grow and invest in this region,” said Toys R Us Asia president Andre Javes.
The Linkin Park members have announced that they will be holding a special concert on 27th October 2017 in memory of their late lead singer, Chester Bennington, who passed away about 2 months ago.
The show, which will celebrate the life of Chester, is scheduled to take place at the Hollywood Bowl.
We will be playing, laughing, and crying together at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 27th, in honor of Chester. Love you guys.
The band also released an emotional music video for “One More Light”, the title track of their last album. It largely features Chester Bennington, with previously unseen footage of the singer on tour, in the studio, and generally having fun with his band members.
Linkin Park’s DJ and visual artist Joe Hahn, who helped direct the music video, wrote in the YouTube description, “It has been incredibly emotional to work on this, and especially to watch it. I feel that by doing it, we not only faced some of our biggest fears, but it enabled us to use our talents to bring some light to people that need it. As we move forward to the Hollywood Bowl show and beyond, I think about the people that connect with the band, outside and inside our circle. Who would win in a fight between Andy Lau (刘德华) and Donnie Yen (甄子丹)?
Both men are already in their mid-50s, but the actors would still like to have a go at it. Lau said that he “really wanted to have one fight with Donnie” during a recent press conference at Guangzhou, China.

In their upcoming Hong Kong-Chinese action crime film, “Chasing the Dragon (追龍)”, Lau will reprise his role as the corrupt police officer Lee Rock. For the uninitiated, the 56-year-old actor previously played this character in the 1991 movie titled “To Be Number One”, 26 years ago. Meanwhile, Yen stars as gang boss Ng Sek-Ho, otherwise nicknamed “Crippled Ho”.
“I was initially very nervous to play the same role that I did when I was younger. However, after looking at the storyline and Donnie’s character, I decided to take it,” Lau was quoted as saying. During the interview, the Chinese actor shared that Yen’s roles and impressive skills in previous martial art films had left lasting impression on him. He joked that if his body could still handle it, he’d gladly “fight” Yen one-on-one.

According to reports, Yen, 54, was initially reluctant to play the villainous character. Despite that, he eventually accepted the offer a few months later after being drawn by the challenges of the film. The martial arts superstar revealed that playing a bad guy was harder compared to his previous roles and would probably decline future villain roles.
Directed by Jason Kwan and Jing Wong, “Chasing the Dragon (追龍)” is a true story about a drug lord who snuck into British-ruled Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant during the 1960s. The movie follows Crippled Ho’s rise to power in the Triads as a drug kingpin and his collaboration with Chief Detective Sergeant, Lee Rock.

“Chasing the Dragon (追龍)” debuts in Malaysia on 28th September 2017.
Just when we thought that things can’t get any worse in Malaysia, another rape case takes us by surprise.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 19th September), it was reported that a female student had given birth in a school surau (translation: prayer room) in Bandar Baru Serting, Jempol. She was only 15 years old.

It is understood that school authorities had notified the Jempol Hospital located in Negeri Sembilan after the Form 3 girl was unconscious in the surau. When the medical personnel from the Emergency Department arrived, a newborn was found lying on the girl’s chest, with the umbilical cord still attached.
“The medical officer on duty reported that he had received a phone call from the school at 10:30am, claiming that a student had fainted before a staff from the Emergency Department was dispatched to the school. Our staff found a female student lying in the school’s prayer room and there was a female newborn infant lying on her chest with the umbilical cord still attached to the womb of the student,” a police officer was quoted as saying.

Acting Jempol OCPD Azham Shah Azlan confirmed that a 16-year-old male student has been arrested to assist in investigations. The case is currently being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for statutory rape.
Thankfully, both mother and child are reportedly in healthy condition.

In his upcoming adult fairy tale “The Shape of Water”, audiences will get to see a bizzare sex scene between a woman and a humanoid fish creature. This human-monster relationship will probably be unlike anything we’ve ever seen on the big screen before.

“The Shape of Water” centres on a forbidden romance between a mysterious humanoid fish creature, being held in a government facility as an experiment, and Elisa Esposito, a mute technician who works there. When no one is around, Elisa would sneak into the room where the creature is being held. She brings him eggs, which is his favourite thing to eat. Slowly, their platonic friendship blossoms into a romantic bond.
In speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Doug Jones, who plays the creature (some of you may remember him for his role as Abe Sapien in the “Hellboy” movies), and del Toro reveal that at some point in the movie, Elisa and the creature will have sex. Jones even revealed that he was required to shoot some of his scenes in full frontal nudity.
“When I asked (del Toro) why this time does it need to involved full-frontal nudity — I mean, we’re going for it! — and he harkened back to the Creature from the ‘Black Lagoon’ and ‘Frankenstein’ and any of the classic monster movies that helped develop his love of monsters,” he told the publication.
The actor added, “There was always a romantic side to these characters and relationships on film that never got actualised all the way. Guillermo said this time, the monster’s going to actually f**k the girl. A gentler way to say it is that this is the creature from the wet, black lagoon who actually gets the girl this time.”

Based on a comic book series created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, “Kingsman” tells the story of a covert group of British secret agents saving the world from a global disaster. While “The Secret Service” centred on a young chap named Gary “Eggsy” Unwin getting inducted into the secret organisation, “The Golden Circle” sees him as a full-fledged Kingsman agent.

To pump up your excitement, here are our highlights from watching the 2nd instalment – everything from our favourite character, thoughts on the big bad, and the future of this franchise. Do note that there may be some minor spoilers, so read at your own risk.
1. The bombing of the headquarters is just the appetiser

As seen in the trailer, this is what happens when the secret spy organisation is exposed. At the very beginning of the sequel, the Kingsmen are reduced to rubble. Quite a bold gambit, no? “It felt like the right thing to do. We’re not Bond, we do what feels right. We’re allowed to push the rules and reinvent things,” said director Matthew Vaughn.
2. What is The Golden Circle?

The Golden Circle is essentially a secret drug cartel that is situated on top of a mountain in the middle of an unknown jungle. The entire area is adorned with the retro 1950s vibe. The organisation keeps the identity of their henchmen a secret by eliminating their finger prints and having their teeth filed down. Plus, the wrong-doers also have an expensive tattoo of a circle made of 24-karat gold, hence, The Golden Circle.
Unbeknownst to the President of United States and the rest of the world, The Golden Circle has already become a monopoly on the industry of illegal substances. This brings us to the next point – who’s the head honcho?
3. Poppy is one cray cray villain

Described as “Martha Stewart on crack”, the ruthless Poppy (played by Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore) is the criminal mastermind behind The Golden Circle. Poppy has a pleasant demeanour and near constant smile, but don’t be fooled by her Stepford Wives persona. She’s stone cold evil and her psychopathic punishments reflects her brutal intentions as well as her intelligence.
This villainous character is vastly different than the one Samuel L. Jackson played. Jackson was quite memorable as Richmond Valentine, the genocidal bleeding heart who wasn’t morally right but had a point. In comparison, Moore’s Poppy is more intimidating. Speaking of which, she also has 2 vicious robot dogs named Bennie and Jet.
After the annihilation of the British headquarters, Eggsy (played by Taron Egerton) and Merlin (played by Mark Strong) must figure out their next move. They decide to team up with their American counterparts in the Statesman.
Led by their leader Champ (played by Jeff Bridges), who likes tossing his hat, the USA team consists of Southern secret agent Tequila (played by Channing Tatum), whip-cracking cowboy Whiskey (played by Pedro Pascal), and tech guru Ginger Ale (played by Halle Berry), who’s basically the female version of Merlin.
So what happens when the UK meets USA? According to Vaughn, the result is “a healthy rivalry with cultural clashes”. The filmmaker continued, “There’s a great line that Churchill said about America: The only thing we really have in common between England and America is the language, and even that’s debatable”.
5. Someone is back from the dead

Oh yes peeps, Harry Hart is definitely back!
After Colin Firth’s character was seemingly killed off in the first film, his return was confirmed via a teaser poster. Subsequently, the Kingsman’s number one secret agent was also revealed in the trailer wearing an eyepatch over the eye he was shot at. Harry is back, but he’s not the Harry we knew. To quote Vaughn, “He’s Harry Hart, but he ain’t Galahad”.
6. “Kingsman 2” will also bring back this key character

People don’t seem to stay dead do they?
Antagonist Charlie Hesketh (played by Edward Holcroft) will return as Eggsy’s stuck-up nemesis. If you recall, Charlie and Eggsy were always at odds with one another during their Kingsman training. However, he was sent home after failing a crucial test, but later reappeared at Valentine’s party. This time, he’s back with a shaven head and an amazing new robotic arm. Better watch out Eggsy!
7. Believe it or not, Elton John is our favourite character in the sequel

You heard us right. Elton John is playing himself in “The Golden Circle”. Many would presume that the Grammy winner’s appearance is just a cameo, but he actually has a significant role.
Vaughn initially wanted to include the legendary musician in the first movie. “I had an idea of, ‘Who’s the worst celebrity you’d want to have locked in a cell?’ And I came up with Elton John, and having Elton John throwing these huge tantrums. And then I wanted to do an action scene of Elton John kicking the living daylights out of people,” he said. Thankfully, audiences will get to see a whole lot of this flamboyant pop star in this film.
8. “Kingsman 2” will feature a deleted scene from “The Secret Service”
In speaking with Den of Geek, Egerton revealed that the “Kingsman” sequel will be utilising a deleted scene from the first movie. “Matthew (Vaughn) knows and likes Elton, and knows that he brings something that fits the tone of the ‘Kingsman’ world. I think I can say that there’s a deleted scene from the first one, that I personally thought shouldn’t have been cut, and that’s now in the 2nd film. But what it is… I don’t think I can say,” the 27-year-old Brit told the publication.
We’ll leave it to you to figure out exactly which scene is Egerton referring to.
9. The Lego remake of the “The Golden Circle” is absolutely awesome
Last week, Huxley Berg Studios released a Lego recreation of “The Golden Circle” red band trailer and it even included the dramatic car chase scene. The execution and effects were spot on. After watching the impressive fan-made trailer, would you be interested in a full animated sequence of “Kingsman”?
10. “Kingsman 3” is already planned

Wait what? Is “Kingsman” a trilogy?
Most franchises don’t end at 2 films, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that 20th Century Fox already have plans for “Kingsman 3”. In a recent interview, Vaughn shared that he has already written the first draft of the screenplay for the 3rd instalment. “When we were writing it, we were thinking about ‘Kingsman 3’ too. This is the bridge, if we can pull it off and get to make another one,” the director was quoted as saying. Of course, the primary factor will be the box office.

The Japanese superstar dropped a bombshell by shocking fans with the announcement that she will be officially retiring from the music business next year. On the 26th anniversary of her career, the singer would be abdicating from her throne on 16th September 2018.

Amuro shot to fame in the 1990s as a teen queen. The pop star made her debut in the group Super Monkey’s before pursuing her solo career. She recently completed 2 major concerts in her native Okinawa.

A 13-year-old girl named Radhika was recently brutally murdered simply because she was seen being friendly with a boy from the same school. What’s even more shocking is the fact that the murderers were her own parents!

The horrific crime took place in Nalgonda, near Hyderabad, India. According to local media, Radhika’s father, identified as Narasimha, flew into rage when he caught his child conversing with a boy outside of the local government school. Upon arriving home, Narasimha accused Radhika of bringing shame to the family’s name.
Reports claimed that Narasimha, an agricultural worker, had smashed his daughter’s head against a wall. During the assault, he even strangled her; ultimately taking her life. Police also stated that Radhika’s mother, Lingamma, took part in the execution by pouring kerosene fuel over the girl’s body before setting it on fire.
Despite their initial claims that Radhika had committed suicide, Narasimha and Lingamma eventually confessed to killing their daughter out of anger. The parents have since been taken into custody and charged with murder and for concealing evidence.
India is one of the countries where women are considered inferior to men and are often ill-treated. Radhika is one of the youngest victims of honour killing.
We all know that almost all the big Marvel characters will be appearing in “Avengers: Infinity War”. However, not all of them will make it out alive.
It is believed that at least 1 major character will die somewhere in “Infinity War” and “Avengers 4”. This is to cement the fact that the ultimate big bad Thanos is not to be messed with. Having said that, we’re fairly certain that Captain America will survive the first round of battles with Thanos.

Thanks to some new pictures obtained by Just Jared, Brie Larson and Chris Evans were recently spotted arriving on the film set in Atlanta to shoot “Avengers 4”. Could Captain Marvel and Captain America be teaming up?
“I think fans should be prepared for some very intense surprises in these movies. My brother and I believe in stakes; I believe that everything has to come to an end at some point, in order for it to have value,” director Joe Russo was previously quoted as saying.
The next 2 instalments of “Avengers” franchise are being set up to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a major way. Besides Iron Man, another character that has been heavily rumoured to die has been Captain America. Cap might still bite the dust, but at least not in “Infinity War”.

This morning (Thursday, 21st September), a gas cylinder exploded at the warehouse of a popular local food chain company at Jalan Subang 10 around 8am.
China Press reported that at least 8 people were seriously injured. It is believed that a leak in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) was the main cause for the explosion.

6 victims out of the aforementioned 8 suffered major burns on their bodies, including a foot fracture, while the remaining 2 sustained splinters caused by the exploded gas cylinder. The victims, aged between 21 and 28, were all foreign workers from Myanmar and Nepal. They are currently receiving treatment at the Serdang hospital.
The fire and rescue department stated that they arrived at the scene 15 minutes after receiving the emergency call at 8:04am. Thankfully, they succeeded in turning off all the gas lines before vanquishing the fire. NST also confirmed that it was an industrial cooking gas cylinder on the first floor, which was being used to cook soup, that exploded.

Surprise, surprise! Kylie Jenner is reportedly pregnant and is expecting her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott.
Jenner, 20, and Scott, 25, started dating in April earlier this year after she broke up with Tyga. Word on the street has it that Jenner is approximately 4 months pregnant with a baby girl and she’s due in February 2018.

A source told People magazine that the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan began telling friends earlier this month. “It is an unexpected but completely amazing turn of events that she could not be more excited or thrilled about. Everyone is overjoyed for her,” an insider was quoted as saying.
Reports claim that the 20-year-old makeup maven was worried that the public would find out about her pregnancy before she was ready to reveal the news. ALIFE, a Malaysian organisation that advocates live arts and entertainment events, has spoken up about The Better Beer Festival 2017 fiasco.

Last week, it was announced the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has rejected an application to hold The Better Beer Festival 2017. DBKL did not elaborate if the rejection had anything to do with the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) objecting to the event, but The Better Beer Festival organisers later released a statement to confirm that they were informed that the decision was made “due to the political sensitivity surrounding the event”.
A couple of days later, 25 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) gathered outside Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque to protest against festivals that celebrate alcohol and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in Malaysia, fearing that The Better Beer Festival 2017 would be held in Selangor instead.
Among the NGOs were Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia, Biro Aduan Masyarakat Selangor, Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia, Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia, Gabungan NGO 1Malaysia, Pertubu han 99 Kebajikan Insan Selangor, Gerakan Team Boss 38, Alif Ba Ta Srikandi Mahsyur and Gerakan Biru Bersatu ABATA.

At the same time, Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia head Abdul Rani Kulup called on the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) and Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) to forbid liquor and gay festivals.
“This should not be our culture and practice. Alcohol consumption is the mother of all immoral acts that could lead to other bad habits. When you drink alcohol, you will get involved in gambling, sexual activities, become gay… all things that are bad will happen,”NST quoted him as saying.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun also revealed that the police had advised DBKL against allowing the beer festival to be held in Kuala Lumpur for security reasons. Apparently, the police had received information that militants planning on sabotaging the event.

20th Century Fox has finally released the first full trailer for “Maze Runner: The Death Cure”, the final chapter of the “Maze Runner” trilogy, and we’re literally bouncing off walls from excitement.

It’s so great to see Dylan O’Brien back in action after suffering multiple injuries while filming “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” last year. If you recall, production for the film was halted to allow the actor to recover and the release date was postponed to 2018.

If the anal sex joke in “Kingsman: The Secret Service” was controversial, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” took it up a notch by featuring a shocking sex scene.
During the Glastonbury-set sequence, Eggsy (played by Taron Egerton) was tasked at planting a tracking device in a very private area of a villain’s girlfriend, Clara (played by Poppy Delevingne). What moviegoers may not know is that there was a body double involved.

The graphic shot finds the camera following Eggsy’s finger as he track down Clara’s body while seducing her before inserting the tracker into her vaginal canal. The camera then switches to a computer-generated shot of what happens inside of her. Many wondered how director Matthew Vaughn accomplished this shot.
“Well, that’s the beauty of filmmaking, isn’t it? We had to get a lens made, we had to get a camera position dollying very close to someone’s body, but you didn’t want to hurt them by mistake. Having to use Eggsy and then another hand, because it got quite intimate, as you’d say, and making that seamless. It was one of those things that could have been a disaster. In some people’s minds I know that they think it’s a disaster already because they didn’t like it, which is fine and I respect it, but other people do like it,” Vaughn told Vulture.

The intimate scene made Egerton so uncomfortable that they had to invite Delevingne’s husband, James Cook, to act as a hand double. “In this one, I’m in the shot and I said to Matthew ‘I’m not comfortable doing this’. So it’s not my hand – it’s Poppy’s husband’s hand. He saved the world,” the 27-year-old British hunk told Screen Rant.
Despite the discomfort, Egerton has gone on to defend the filmmaker’s decision for including that Glastonbury sex scene in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”. He said, “You know, it’s not to everyone’s tastes, but it certainly gets people talking. All it is is explicitly showing what Bond alludes to and says in a double entendre kind of way.”

Word on street has it that popular DC characters, Lex Luthor and Iris West, have been axed from the cut of the highly-anticipated “Justice League“. This news comes courtesy of Batman News, after the movie was recently shown to a selected few at advanced screenings.

Last month, Kiersey Clemons expressed her excitement at the prospect of making her DC debut as Iris West. The 23-year old actress even mentioned that her scenes were “f**cking sick”. Unfortunately, moviegoers won’t be able to see her on the big screen.
Although Jessie Eisenberg was included in last year’s “Justice League” press release, his scenes have also been cut out of the test screenings. As you may know, Lex Luthor was thrown into Arkham Asylum after the events of “Batman v Superman“. The Dark Knight even branded him with a bat sign while he was in jail.

There have been massive reshoots ever since Joss Whedon took over as director from Zack Snyder due to a family tragedy. While it’s a good thing that the new filmmaker has decided to cut out parts that don’t contribute to the overall story, we’re still hoping scenes of Lex Luthor and Iris West will appear in the Blu-ray release.
