If you were one of the voters for the highly competitive DJ Mag Top 100 DJ poll 2012, you’d be pleased to know that the results were just revealed hours ago at a special ceremony during the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). And who better to claim the #1 spot but the genius who helms A State of Trance (ASOT) shows and the man behind the juggernaut that is Armada, Armin van Buuren.

Yes! For the fifth time (which is a massive achievement for any DJ/producer in the world), Armin is #1 again after David Guetta knocked him off the top spot last year.

Armin van Buuren

I thought that was it, and house music was taking over. I’ve been really impressed by a lot of the new house guys, and I’ve been to a lot of house gigs over the summer. All that new energy that they’re bringing, I thought ‘OK, this is the future’. 2012 has been one of the best years ever for trance music. Maybe that’s because the focus has been on house music. It feels that trance is somehow more free”, Armin said of David Guetta’s win last year. (Source)

And how does he feel about claiming back his throne this year?

This feels surreal.

Joining him at the top ranks are none other than Tiësto at #2 and Avicii and #3. David Guetta is now at the #4 spot and deadmau5 is sitting comfortably at #5. Without further ado, here are the new heroes for DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2012:
