The #TheXFiles reboot sh*t just got real, bro.
In March, we wrote that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will reunite to play our favourite fictional FBI agents, Mulder and Scully, through an all new limited series of “The X-Files” on Fox soon.
Gillian Anderson confirmed the above news via Twitter:
Mulder, it's me. Are you ready? MT @MichaelAusiello XF Revival Official @DavidDuchovny & @GillianA Back for 6 New Eps http://t.co/qZi1v8RazZ

Created by Chris Carter, “The X-Files” was the longest-running sci-fi series in US television history as it aired from 1993 – 2002 on Fox, spanning 9 whole seasons and 202 episodes. It revolves around FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (played by David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) investigating X-Files: marginalised, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.
Initially considered a cult show, it turned into a pop culture touchstone that tapped into public mistrust of governments and large institutions and embraced conspiracy theories and spirituality.
Back then, no further details about the series were released but there was word that production for the “The X-Files” reboot will begin this summer. Oh, but by “this summer”, we mean right now because Gillian just took to Twitter to give fans a sneak peek of the filming:
And so it begins… pic.twitter.com/FSDI7W0bMK

Like we said – sh*t just got real, bro.
We have so, so many reasons to be excited about this! Well, why not? It involves the return of the original leads as well as The Smoking Man, amongst others. On the writing side, series creator Chris Carter is back, along with original writers Glen Morgan and James Wong. And considering the fact that Mulder David Duchovny cried reading the script, we already can’t wait to see what the “The X Files” reboot/revival will have in store for us!
We’ll leave you know with the series’ theme song, just to get you in the mood:
The “The X-Files” premiere date will be announced at a much later date so hang in there. We’ll update our site with more information as soon as we know
