On Friday (22nd May), news broke that the popular Olsen twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley) will not be returning to play Michelle for the “Full House” reunion, otherwise known as “Fuller House”.

Rumours of a reunion first emerged in October last year and since then, the neccesary work on the TV series has quickly picked up.

Fuller House

From what we know, in “Fuller House”, the adventures that began in 1987 on “Full House” continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco. D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys – the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max – and her soon-to-arrive baby.

Alas, executive producer Robert L. Boyett confirmed that Mary-Kate and Asley Olsen, who collectively played Michelle Tanner on the original series, will not be returning for the reboot.

He announced in a statement:

Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of “Fuller House”, I know how much “Full House” has meant to them and they are still very much considered family. It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards “Fuller House”.

Meanwhile, John Stamos aka “Uncle Jesse” took to Twitter to say that he is “heartbroken” by the news. He then elaborated in subsequent message, “I understand they’re in a different place and I wish them the best,” he wrote, before promising that fans will dig the new offering anyway.”

In case you missed it, here:

Oh well. While the Olsens have taken a pass on the show, there will be plenty of returning faces. In addition to Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber will be on “Fuller House”, while Dave Coulier will appear on at least one episode.

“Fuller House” is from Miller-Boyett Productions and Jeff Franklin Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller and Jeff Franklin are the executive producers of the series, which was created by Franklin. John Stamos is a producer.

Here’s the downside of everything we just said above though – “Fuller House” will premiere exclusively only on Netflix.

Michelle Tanner Full House

Yup, unless if we (in Malaysia) get Netflix by 2016, we probably won’t be able to watch it :(
