#RIPBBKing: Blues Legend Dies At 89

The thrill is gone.

B.B. King, the legendary blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist, died May 14th, 2015 (Thursday) in Las Vegas, his attorney said. King was 89 years old.

According to attorney Brent Bryson, King died peacefully in his sleep at home.

The “Thrill Is Gone” singer brought new fans to the blues and influenced generations of musicians with his heartfelt vocals and soaring guitar on songs such as “Everyday I Have The Blues” and “Blues Boys Tune”.

During his highly successful career, King was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and received the Songwriters Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990. King also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush, gave a guitar to Pope John Paul II and had President Barack Obama sing along to “Sweet Home Chicago”.

In 2009, he was awarded his 15th Grammy for best blues album: “One Kind Favor”.
