Uh-oh. This can’t be good.
Tao of EXO-M hasn’t said a word since his father announced his decision to bring his son back to his home in Qingdao through a lengthy post on Weibo. His father’s recent interview with Sina further sparked speculation that he is no longer a member of EXO as he has allegedly “agreed” to leave EXO out of filial piety.
However, on 26th April, the artiste finally broke his silence by posting the following message on his Weibo account:

“I’m sorry. Thank you,” Tao wrote on his personal Weibo account.
It is unclear why he left the message, but fans are speculating that he is apologising for leaving EXO. Some fans also speculated he left the message because of all the support he has received since the departure rumours surfaced online. SM Entertainment has yet to respond to the report, but the company previously revealed in a statement that they hope to reach an agreement with his father.
This wasn’t the first time that Tao was rumoured to be leaving EXO as an entertainment insider previously hinted at his departure after former EXO-M member Luhan filed a lawsuit against the company. The insider cited an airport incident as the reason for his departure.
In December 2014, Chinese media outlet Sina reported that Tao was planning to nullify his contract as both Lay and himself “have constantly been invited to return to China and sign on with a new entertainment agency”. At that time, many believed that the report could be an effort to stir up commotion among EXO fans since the group already announced their comeback at the 2014 Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA).
In April 2015, another Chinese media outlet called iQiyi reported that Tao will terminate his contract with the company and several insiders close to Tao also confirmed his departure from the idol group. The report was then followed by Tao’s father’s lengthy post on Weibo.
