At the Star Wars Celebration on Sunday, Lucasfilm brought the latest member of the directorial family, Gareth Edwards, to discuss about the Star Wars universe. Author Pablo Hidalgo started off by introducing Kathleen Kennedy and Kiri Hart, head of Story Group, who announced that the stand-alone films will officially be referred to as “Star Wars Anthology Films.”

During the celebration, Gareth Edwards, the director of the first Anthology Film, “Rouge One”, said the most amazing thing he saw was the trailer premiere for “The Force Awakens”. The director also said that he tried not to cry but couldn’t help himself when he saw Han Solo and Chewie return home.

The teaser trailer featured the voice of Sir Alec Guinness as the voice of Obi-Wan from the firs Star Wars film.

“For more than a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the old republic.” “Before the dark times. Before the Empire. “

The camera then slowly tracks through a forest to reveal the Death Star rising over the horizon of an unknown planet.

The panel continued with the first official summary of the movie:

“A rogue band of resistance fighters unite for a mission to steal the Death Star plans and bring a new hope to the galaxy.” Edwards confirmed that it bob up after Episode III, before Episode IV, and “closer to Episode IV.”

The director further elaborated that the film will not star Jedi as their absence is part of the storytelling, and that the idea of a regular group of people without magical powers trying to improve their world is what’s interesting.
