And the Star Wars Celebration keeps a-buzzin’ all day!
If you thought it’d stop at the new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” teaser trailer or Twitter’s #StarWarsEmoji or The Verge’s “Star Wars” title meme-maker, think again. Because in honour of the iconic sci-fi film series, All Nippon Airways (ANA) will reportedly paint one of its brand-new Boeing 787s with an R2-D2 motif.
What, a plane designed to look like everybody’s favourite lovable “Star Wars” droid? Yes please. And step aside, ultra-luxe planes!
The design is not too much of a stretch, as both the Dreamliner and fictional R2-D2 share the confines of a tube enclosure. According to ANA, this is part of a 5-year “Star Wars Project” that will presumably bring more “Star Wars“-themed airliners into its fleet, based out of Japan.

Also, an apparent video rendering of the R2-D2 plane shows the nose of the plane decorated with R2-D2’s signature blue and white stripes, along with graphics depicting the robot’s various ports, with a massive “Star Wars” logo dominating the rear of the plane.

This R2-D2 jet is scheduled to begin service on the airline’s international routes this fall. Be right back, racing to go buy some very important flight tickets.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is slated to be released on 18th Dec 2015.
