Amy Winehouse: First Look At Asif Kapadia’s Documentary Titled, “Amy”

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, but we’d suggest you get a box of tissues if you’re about to watch the first teaser trailer of the documentary on the late Amy Winehouse, “Amy”.

The documentary is directed by Asif Kapadia, the BAFTA Award-winning British filmmaker who directed several award-winning films such as “The Sheep Thief” and “Senna”. It focuses on the tragically short life of the late British songstress, who died at the young age of 27.

Amy Winehouse is best known for sexy sultry voice and she rose to international fame in 2006 with her 2nd album, “Back to Black”. However, she died of alcohol poisoning on 23rd July 2011, despite years of battling her addictions to drugs and alcohol. She tried to abstain herself from alcohol for a few weeks, but that didn’t work out and it ultimately led to her tragic death.

The documentary film will feature tonnes of unseen archive footage, unreleased tracks, and interview snippets. The first teaser trailer gave a glimpse into the documentary, with Winehouse herself explaining the massive media attention she has been getting.

I don’t think I’m going to be at all famous. I don’t think I could handle it,” she said. “I would fully go mad.

The film is set to be released in the U.K. this summer on 3rd July 2015.
