We want to say that this is strange, but we’d be going against the “Stranger things have happened saying.
Now that we’ve got multiple cinematic universes e.g. Marvel, DC, Transformers (in the works) and many live-action adaptations in the pipeline e.g. Winnie The Pooh, Mulan, Dumbo, it’s understandable if Hollywood is running out of ideas. However, that doesn’t mean that Hasbro (the same company that holds the distribution rights to Tranformers toys) can’t find another property to milk for all it’s worth.
According to Deadline, Hasbro is currently in talks with 20th Century Fox to develop a live-action film based on toy brand Play-Doh.
Wait, what?
Yes, it’s true. We also hear that “Ghostbusters” director Paul Feig is currently in negotiations to direct the film while Jason Micallef will take on the screenwriter role.
Before you start ranting about how impossible (or impossibly lame) this idea sounds, keep in mind that Warner Bros did successfully pull off “The Lego Movie“, which grossed USD658 million worldwide and hatched not only a sequel but spinoffs. Plus, considering the fact that the live-action project will be based on some random colourful modeling gunk, the storyline possibilities for the Play-Doh film are endless!
