Stephen Amell has gotten himself another masked vigilante role, but this time around, he’s going to be featured on the big screen.
The “Arrow” star is set to appear in the upcoming sequel of the rebooted “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT)” film as Casey Jones, a character played by Elias Koteas in the original film series.
According to Variety, he was among the 6 actors to be shortlisted for the role as Casey Jones, who is the love interest of Megan Fox’s April O’Neil. Variety further reported that the studio was convinced that Amell is suitable for the role due to his chemistry with Fox.
Jones is a long-haired hockey-masked crime fighter and an ally of the titular characters of the film. He is a fan favourite of the series and Koteas received vastly positive response for his portrayal of Jones in the 1990 New Line pic.

Before Amell was cast as Casey Jones, it was announced that Alessandra Ambrosio is joining the film for a role as well. She said to be playing the love interest of cameraman Vernon Fenwick (played by Will Arnett). However, it is unclear how she will fit into the storyline as the plot remains a mystery.
So far, it is confirmed that Megan Fox and Will Arnett will return to reprise their respective roles. Jonathan Liebesman will not return to helm the project and it was announced that Dave Green would be the director of the sequel.
“Transformers” director Michael Bay will continue to serve as a producer of the film alongside his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are penning the script.
The TMNT sequel is tentatively titled “Half Shell” and it is slated for release on 3rd June 2016.
