It looks like we’ll no longer need to battle the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) jam whilst trying to get to IKEA in Mutiara Damansara on weekends. This is because IKEA Malaysia is opening a second outlet as part of an overall expansion plan across Southeast Asia!
The announcement was made via IKEA Malaysia’s Facebook page recently, but it didn’t actually provide us with much information other than the fact that the second outlet will open somewhere in Cheras.
In case you missed it, here:
The new Swedish-based store will be located Jalan Cochrane, the upcoming Swedish-based store will be its biggest yet in Malaysia, with an overall store size that is 20% larger than IKEA Damansara, IKEA Malaysia said in a statement.
Retail director Mike King explained:
The development is currently ongoing as we progress to focus on the interior fittings and operational set-up of the store. Further details will be unveiled over the coming months.
IKEA Malaysia is expected to open its second outlet in Cheras by year-end.
