From the creator of “Veronica Mars” comes “iZOMBiE”, one of the highly-anticipated TV series in 2015. If there’s one reason why you should be excited about this upcoming TV series by the CW, it’s probably because the show sets itself apart from the other “zombie-themed” series or movies such as AMC’s “The Walking Dead” and “World War Z“.

The series will be premiering first in Malaysia on 22nd March (Sunday) on Warner TV HD via Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) award-winning IPTV service, HyppTV, and the HyppTV Everywhere mobile app. It will be express from the US to Malaysia, just 4 days after the US world premiere.

iZOMBiE 03 - Rose McIver as Olivia Liv Moore

Rose McIver, who starred in ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” as Tinker Bell, is set to play Olivia “Liv” Moore, the central character of the series.

The series also stars Malcolm Goodwin (“Breakout Kings”) as Clive Babineaux, newcomer Rahul Kohli as Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, Robert Buckley (“One Tree Hill”) as Major Lilywhite, and David Anders (“Once Upon A Time” and “The Vampire Diaries“) as Blaine DeBeers.

The official synopsis of “iZOMBiE” is as follows:

The series tells the story of Liv Moore, a 25-year-old overachieving medical resident that becomes part zombie after attending a party that shockingly turned into a “zombie feeding frenzy.”

Now stuck somewhere between half-alive and undead, Liv loses all traces of her former drive and ambition. She breaks off her engagement with charming soulmate Major, fearful of infecting him with her condition. She withdraws from her best friend and partner in overachievement, Peyton. And, perhaps most worrisome to her caring but overbearing mom, Eva, Liv transfers her medical residency to the city morgue in order to reluctantly access the only real form of sustenance left available to her – and the only thing that allows her to maintain her humanity – human brains.

But there are side effects to Liv’s new diet: With each brain Liv consumes, she experiences “visions” – flashes of the corpse’s memories — including, in some cases, clues as to how they were killed. Her boss, the brilliant but eccentric conspiracy theorist Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, encourages her to embrace this gift and to work with an eager, unproven homicide detective, Clive Babineaux, to help solve these murders. In doing so, Liv finds a measure of peace, and a new sense of purpose in what her “life” has now become.

As of now, Liv is the only zombie on TV that solves crimes. Sllpiping into the skin of a zombie came naturally for her, but learning how to become a medical student “was alarming” to her.

Unlike “The Walking Dead”, the show is aware of its undead characters as it exists in a universe where all other zombie movies and TV shows are present. Since the characters in “iZOMBiE” are aware of the zombies in the pop culture, Liv tries to blend in and look as human as possible by renting zombie movies to get a better handle on her condition.

The one-hour drama is loosely based on DC Comic’s Vertigo Imprint “iZOMBiE” series written by Chris Roberson with art by Michael Allred. It is co-created and executive produced by Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright (“Veronica Mars“), along with executive producers Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge (also of “Veronica Mars”). The series recently won entertainment channel, E!’s award for “Best New Poster of the TV Season”.
