The moment that you’ve been waiting for is here. It’s time for the 2013 Academy Award aka Oscar nominations. Selected by a ballot of 6,000 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the contenders were revealed two weeks earlier than usual this year
For weeks leading to this announcement, rumours were rife about Adele possibly performing “Skyfall” live at the star-studded event. And now, producers of the Oscars show, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have confirmed that the event will include a special sequence saluting the James Bond movie franchise on their 50th birthday.
As suspected, rumours about Adele’s original song for “Skyfall” (of the same name) cinching a “Best Original Song” nomination was absolutely true!
The main contenders in the world-class quality films shortlist are Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” with 12 nominations, Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” with 11 nominations, and Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables with 8 nominations. One can agree that the competition is stiff, considering the fact that these works of art will be coming head on for several awards such as “Best Picture” and “Production Design”.
