In September 2014, it was announced that CBS placed an order for a new superhero TV series, “Supergirl”. It didn’t take long before speculations rolled out as quickly as the confirmed casting news. Mostly because people were genuinely excited about seeing Superman’s cousin in action.
Produced by Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, “Supergirl” is an hour-long drama that centres on Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, who arrives on Earth after escaping the destruction of Krypton. Just like her cousin, she was taken in by a foster family, the Danvers, who taught her to repress her superhuman abilities. However, after many years of repressing her abilities, an unexpected disaster forces her to embrace her power to help the people in the city. At the age of 24, she becomes the hero she was meant to be: Supergirl.
“Glee” star Melissa Benoist has been enlisted to play the superhero.
And now, CBS has released a first look at its new Supergirl. The 2 photos show Melissa Benoist in a nice but simple costume that might remind you of the patterned Superman design in “Man of Steel”. We hear that the costume was actually created by the same person who did the costume work for “The Flash” and “Arrow”, so there should be some similarities between them.

No further information has been revealed as of yet so we still don’t know when the TV series will be ready to air. We do know, however, that there’ll be more casting news to come.
CBS recently added Dean Cain and Helen Slater to the bill, as confirmed by a spokesperson for Warner Bros. TV. The actors, who played Superman on “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and Supergirl in the film of the same name, are set to guest star on the pilot.
Neither of their roles are known at the moment, but their making appearances should be a treat when the series finally debuts!
