Love is in the air!
It’s that time of the year again − the one special day that couples go out all to impress and show their love for each other and the singles go on a #foreveralone emotional rampage. This Valentine’s Day, we suggest you do something a little unconventional rather than follow in the tradition of buying flowers, going out for over-the-top expensive dinners and, well you get the picture.
As we are about only a week away from Valentine’s Day 2015, we’ve come up with a list of things that music fans can do to celebrate and cherish their love for each other.
1. Attend a concert.
We know what you’re thinking, why would anyone want to go for a concert on Valentine’s Day or who would even be having a concert on Valentine’s Day right? Well, you’re in luck! This year, Slash featuring Miles Kennedy & The Conspirators will be performing at Sunway Lagoon on, yes, you guessed it – Valentine’s Day itself. If you and/or your other half is a fan, then what better way to celebrate this special day than at a concert of an artiste you both enjoy right?
2. Watch/Rewatch Live Shows
Never had the chance to catch your favourite artiste live? Fret not for you can always watch their shows on YouTube or by buying DVDs of their live shows. Now, we know that it’s not the same as actually seeing them in person, but why not take this special day to watch or rewatch some of your favourite artistes live in concert. One of our personal favourites is John Mayer‘s “Where The Light Is” live in Los Angeles show.
3. Exchange Mix Tapes/Playlists
Create a playlist or mix tape of your favourite songs and have your partner do the same. Then exchange them and take turns listening to each of your playlists together. This way, you get a better idea of the kind of music your other half enjoys and vice versa.
4. Go Dancing
Okay so when we say go dancing, we don’t actually mean go dancing in a club. Hit up a bar that features live bands and dance the night away with your loved one. Also, we say bar because a bar is slightly more intimate than a club now, isn’t it?
5. Go On A Music Hunt
Instead of a treasure hunt, go on a music hunt. Create a series of love notes, with clues about your favourite artistes/songs. Hide them in different places, such as on the bed, in their work bag, on the fridge, or on their laptop and have your partner figure out your favourite artiste/song by the end of the hunt. Set a time frame for this to be completed and surprise your partner at the end of the hunt. This adds a fun twist and excitement to the normal, mundane Valentine’s Day.
