We know, we know, not all of us can afford to fork out thousands for a trip to say, a place like Belgium to experience a gargantuan-sized music festival like Tomorrowland. Trust us, we know how many times we’ve all kicked ourselves because the biggest and best festivals (on an international level) always happens oh, only about halfway across the world.
So like many of you guys, we settle for the biggest festivals in the Southeast Asian region such as Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA), ZoukOut, Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP), etc. Or, we make do with partying from our desktops/laptops.
Yeah, peeps, we’re talking about live streams/broadcasts.
Note: The above video isn’t a live stream/broadcast video but we just thought we’d throw that in because it’s the coolest UMF after movie we’ve ever seen! Look at how Hardwell waves at the camera the 0:22 mark
With the advent of the Internet and convergence of media, we can now sort of “travel” halfway across the world to be part of the thousands that turn up at some of the world’s most coveted music festivals! The best part is, we don’t even need to leave home (or the office) to do so. Here are some of the parties around the world that have got free livestreaming:
What: Ultra Music Festival (UMF)
Where: Miami
When: March
Held in Downtown Miami in Bayfront Park, Ultra Music Festival Miami (UMF) is an annual outdoor electronic music festival that occurs in March. It’s said to be one of the biggest dance events of the year because it coincides with the annual Winter Music Conference, also held in Miami.
From 1999 – 2006, UMF was a one-day festival but from 2007 – 2010, it became a 2-day festival and then a 3-day festival from 2011 – 2012. In 2013, for the first time in festival history, UMF took place across two consecutive weekends. The 2013 edition of UMF sold out its pre-sale tickets within seconds of the launch and saw an attendance of 330,000 partygoers. In 2014, the festival returned to a one-weekend format and needless to say, it continued to bring thousands of dance music fans to beautiful Miami for the festival.
Ultra’s “UMF TV” has proven one of the best festival streams in the business, covering both weekends of Ultra with plenty of amazing and high quality live set coverage from the world’s biggest DJs. UMF would also usually take the liberty to save DJ sets individually and post them up on their YouTube channel for those who miss the livestream.
