It’s only a matter of time before Hollywood decides to put Chris Pratt in every summer blockbuster movie that we will be seeing in the future. Although he attained a certain amount of success through NBC’s “Parks and Recreation“, he rose to international fame through his starring role as Peter Quill aka Starlord in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy“. Disney’s upcoming “Jurassic World” movie that features Chris Pratt is one fine example of how he is one of the most in-demand actors in the Hollywood now.
Thus, Disney is not ready to let go of the Hollywood main man yet as Deadline is reporting that the studio is eyeing Chris Pratt to play the title role of an upcoming “Indiana Jones” film.
Created by George Lucas, the “Indiana Jones” franchise is based on the adventures of a fictional archaeologist called Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones. Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg directed “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, the 1st “Indiana Jones” movie in 1981 with Harrison Ford attached to star.
The success of the film inspired a prequel “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” in 1984 and a sequel “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” in 1989. In 2008, Disney released the 4th feature length movie of the film franchise,”Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”.
The 4th “Indiana Jones” film received tremendous success at the box office despite mixed reviews from the critics and being ranked as one as the worst sequels by various movie websites. Although Disney has acquired the film rights to Paramount’s “Indiana Jones” franchise, it was reported that the 5th “Indiana Jones” film might not happen due to Ford’s commitments towards Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Force Awaken” and other spin-off movies. Ford is keen to reprise the role but the 73-year-old actor admits that he is no longer interested in doing big action scenes.
So, just when we thought that the franchise has finally come to an end, Deadline’s latest report regarding the recast of the title character came as a surprise to us. This isn’t the first time Disney is said to be developing a reboot of the “Indiana Jones” as Latino Review wrote in March 2014 that Disney is looking to replace Ford with a new actor. However, SlashFilm debunked the rumour by stating that it was a rumour and nothing was discussed or planned yet.
Admittedly, it is still early for Disney to comment on the report. Thus, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.
Chris Pratt will be seen next in Colin Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World” and will star opposite Denzel Washington in an upcoming remake of “The Magnificent Seven.”
