Very little can be said about one worldwide phenomenon that broke into the music industry and took the world by storm. Very little can be said because we have close to no words to describe their whirlwind rise to the top and their success. In a time where the world was starved of pop groups and boy bands, One Direction came and turned it all around.
To date (whether you like it or not), the boys are perhaps the biggest boy bands in the world, with legions of loyal and loving fans and sales figures to prove it.
Of course, it also helps that the English-Irish boys are practically oozing with good looks and charm. Coupled with the type of upbeat pop music that undoubtedly breathed life into the music industry once again. So when we heard that their album, “Take Me Home” was released, we couldn’t resist.
Leave it to One Direction aka 1D to know the recipe for cooking up a smash hit. Their lead single, “Live While We’re Young” is a fresh-sounding song that is testament to the fact that the boys have matured ever so slightly from when they first debut in 2010. Some might say that the lyrics are suggestive, yet we can’t deny that the song resonates with the fact that the boys are just having a bit of fun with growing up.
Enjoying adolescence, if they may:
And then comes Ed Sheeran’s work of art, “Little Things“. The ballad, if played bright and early on a slow and “low” start of the day could easily cinch its spot on your playlist as the best thing you’ve heard all morning. Listen to them, all grown up and experiencing love for the first time. Directioners are going to fall hopelessly and helplessly head over heels in love with Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn, and Louis all over again with this one, that’s for sure.
What, you don’t believe us? Here’s a snippet of the lyrics, all dripping with honey:
You’ll never love yourself half as much as I love you.
You’ll never treat yourself right, darling, but I want you to.
If I let you know I’m here for you,
Maybe you’ll love yourself like I love you, oh.
And I’ve just let these little things slip out of my mouth,
‘Cause it’s you, oh, it’s you,
It’s you they add up to,
And I’m in love with you,
And all these little things.
And then, the official music video:
Finally, One Direction really gave us some pop to chew on with “Kiss You“. See, the thing is, no matter how old or young you are, it’s hard to fight your body wanting to give in to the tempo of this tune. So don’t!
We say, get in there and start clapping your hands to this one. Because it’s okay to feel like a teeny-bopper every once in awhile. Really!:
We guess it’s safe to say that they singlehandedly taught the world to sing (and dance, and clap) again. One Direction, it has been a long time coming.
“Take Me Home” is now available at a music store near you. Alternatively, you could also purchase the album off iTunes here.
