#2015: Say No To Resolutions, Say Yes To Daily Achievable Goals

Welcome to the new year! How are your resolutions coming along? Actually, scratch that. Let’s not make resolutions, because resolutions are simply promises to yourself that you intend to keep within the year. Often, resolutions don’t materialise and what’s the good in that? Instead, let’s make goals. Not big goals, small ones. Smalls ones that you can work towards achieving. Daily achievable ones. Goals that will enrich your life instead of tying you down to a promise that you’re pressured to keep just because you slapped a big fat “New Year’s Resolution” label on it.

Whether it’s pledging to eat healthy at least a few times a week (it does make all the difference!) or finding ways to make time for your pets, here are some goals you can aim to achieve before 2015 ends:

1. Eat clean

Every year, we pledge to either lead a healthier lifestyle (read: “I’m going to quit smoking” or “I will go to the gym more” or “I will drink less”) or to at least eat healthier. This is because that with every year that goes by, we also age a little bit more and as we age, our general health will need more attention. But let’s not make crazy resolutions based on this need just yet, let’s start with small milestones i.e. pledging to eat clean at least a few times a week.

Yay! We just got our awesome lunches from our friends at Thank you, we love EVERYTHING. More healthy food delivery services here: http://hype.my/newsdesk/eatclean-7-healthy-food-delivery-services-in-kl-pj/

2. Travel more

How many times have we heard the saying, “Got money, no time” when it comes to trying to make travel plans? It’s one of the most popular excuses as to why we can’t catch a break! So let’s not make this excuse anymore because it’s getting old. Start by putting aside RM200 per month, then refer to this handy list and make full use of the public holidays/long weekends in Malaysia this year.

Heck, you don’t even need to go far or spend an absurd amount of money because our friends at Airbnb can help you save lots! But if you do want to spend an absurd amount of money, here are some top theme parks in Asia worth visiting.

3. Make time for pets

We once saw a quote somewhere that said, “To the world you are one person, but to your pet you are the world”. Then we saw this video and although it’s quite cute, it completely broke our hearts:

Yes, it’s true. You are everything your dog/cat has. So this year, perhaps you’d like to make it a point to spend more time when your furkids. Whether it’s going on a brunch date on a weekend at one of these pet-friendly cafes or booking an night or two at one of these pet-friendly hotels in Malaysia, trust us, your pet is going to appreciate the bonding time :)

4. More “you” time

Heaven knows we always need more “us” time aka time to ourselves. By that, we don’t mean locking yourself in your room for an entire weekend without as much as stepping out to eat. And speaking of eat, perhaps that too could be made into a personal little “getaway” once in awhile, eh? Take for example, a staycation at one of these creative accommodations or solo dining (with maybe a book/magazine or an iPad in tow).

No, it doesn’t make you a loser and no, there’s nothing embarrassing about that. We all need to pamper ourselves (and perhaps try to destress and stay sane) every once in awhile.

5. Try something new

Wanna try something a little bit more adventurous while traveling this year without doing anything too crazy? Let us introduce you to something called “glamping”, otherwise also known as “glamorous camping”. It’s a global trend which offers holidaygoers a chance to be with the great outdoors without having to sacrifice modern comforts (read: 5-star luxury comforts). Or sacrifice their sanity while trying to adjust to the great outdoors. Whichever way you want to think of it. Some top glamping spots in the region here.
