What? Yet another Korean food trend has started to take Malaysia by storm?
A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about rumours of a soon-to-launch Jipangi outlet. What’s Jipangi, you ask? It’s basically ice cream, but in a cane-shaped puffed corn. Originating from Insa-dong in Korea, the ice cream draws locals and tourists alike every day because of its shape. While the shape is its main selling point, the ice cream has gotten rave reviews from the visitors because the cone made of corn flour.
Watch how it’s done:
Don’t be fooled by its looks though, because the cane is actually a Korean traditional corn snack called “Jipangyi”. The concept is said to be similar to pop corn, only without butter or caramel on it.
And whaddya know? A little over a week ago, the first Jipangi outlet in Malaysia officially opened its doors to Malaysians! We haven’t tried it ourselves but we hear that you can choose to stuff the Jipangi cane with a choice of either vanilla or chocolate at only RM7, or have both flavours for RM9. See the pictures from Jipangi Malaysia’s official Instagram and Sunway Pyramid’s Facebook page here:
Just, uhm, don’t be surprised if you get strange stares when you’re wolfing down your ice cream while walking around in the mall.
Jipangi is located at LG2.75A (near Aeon), Sunway Pyramid, Selangor.
