Summit Entertainment once again set the interwebs abuzz with the first teaser trailer for the sequel to the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s YA dystopian novel “Divergent“.

Directed by Robert Schwentke, the script of the “Insurgent” is written by Brian Duffield, Akiva Goldsman and Mark Bomback. Shailene Woodley and Theo James will reprise their respective roles in the film, alongside Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, and Mekhi Phifer.

The sequel will continue from where the first film left off and “The Faults in Our Stars” actress Shailene Woodley will return to portray lead protagonist, Tris.

Divergent - Insurgent Defy Reality

In the sequel, Tris and a band of Divergent survivors are fugitives on the run as they are being hunted by the leader of the power-hungry Edudite elite, Jeanie (played by Kate Winslet). With only very limited time left, Tris and her allies must find out what Tris’ family has sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them.

But of course, all of these happened after they escaped to the ruins of futuristic Chicago.

Prior to the release of the sequel, Summit Entertainment gave us the first look at the ruins of futuristic Chicago through their first teaser trailer. In the teaser trailer, Tris was seen attempting to rescue her mother (played by Ashley Judd) in a floating house bursting with flames. However, the scene looks like a dream sequence out of Christopher Nolan’s “Inception”:

So, is it just a dream? That’s something to think about, if you haven’t read the book.

“Insurgent” is slated for release on March 20, 2015.
