While the results for Datuk Lee Chong Wei’s B sample test will be out on Wednesday, Malaysians will most likely only know the result by the end of the week. Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) said the result will first be made known to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the federation would then have to accept the findings.
“If it is still positive, they will then notify the Badminton Federation of Malaysia and all this will take a few days,” he said. He also added that the possibility of the B sample test proving negative was as slim as 99% of the time, the result would be similar to the first doping test done on 2nd Oct.

According to NST, Lee Chong Wei will have his wife Wong Mew Choo by his side when the World No 1’s “B” sample is tested for the banned substance, dexamethasone in Oslo, Norway at 5pm (Malaysian time) tomorrow (5th Nov, Wednesday).
Our country’s top shuttler was implicated in a doping scandal after he was believed to have failed a doping test conducted during the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, in August. The 31-year-old is a national icon in the Southeast Asian nation and has consistently topped the badminton rankings, despite having failed to win a world or Olympic title. Malaysians took to social media to express their disbelief, and support for Lee. Twitter, especially, has been set abuzz with reactions towards the doping rumours.
“There must be a reason. We have to lend him all our support Malaysian!” one user wrote on Twitter.
If the results come back positive, it would mark Malaysia’s second doping scandal in recent months. Earlier this month, the head of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia resigned to take responsibility after Asian Games champion Tai Cheau Xuen tested positive for doping and was stripped of her gold medal.
