Remember that one time we talked about catching “Pitch Perfect” and how we couldn’t help ourselves but to rave about it to all y’all? Well, because we loved it oh so much, we had to pick up the original soundtrack (OST). We just had to!
The truth is, nothing can quite compare to “Pitch Perfect” – not even Glee. At least not yet. And we have good reasons for that. First and foremost, Anna Kendrick really does sing on the show as well as for the OST:
How many times have we heard Anna’s version of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity”? How about, a million? We know, we know, it kinda reminds you of the whole Gwyneth Paltrow’s and Nicole Kidman’s singing debuts doesn’t it? We can now add another actress-turned-singer magic to the list.
Speaking of magic, another notable track off the “Pitch Perfect” OST would be Anna’s “Cups“. A little fun fact for you though: Did you know that this performance was part of Anna’s actual audition? Yes, it played a huge part in getting her the role of Beca for the a capella comedy flick:
Another fun fact: During the production of “Pitch Perfect”, for the “Cups” scene, Anna did it live and in real time. Just like the video above. As a matter or fact, she did it in three or four takes. Can you say, “SKILLZ”?
Of course, we can’t go without noting the mash-up that was used for the Bella’s finals. For the grand finish, they used:
- Jessie J’s Price Tag
- Simple Minds’ Don’t You (Forget About Me)
- Pitbull ft. Ne-yo, Afrojack & Nayer’s Give Me Everything
- Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are
- Miley Cyrus’ Party in the USA
- Gloria Estefan’s Turn The Beat Around
Old, new, thumping, and slow. If this can’t win them an actual a capella competition elsewhere in real life, at least it has won over the hearts of the “Pitch Perfect” audience. We’re pretty sure of it.
The “Pitch Perfect” OST is available at a music store near you. Get it, get it!
