This year, in conjunction with Malaysia Day, Moonshine will be celebrating its 9th anniversary by paying tribute to an ongoing legacy of Malaysia’s most iconic songs, covered by some of the best Malaysian acts. Guaranteed to take you back in time and give you the chance to relive some of the most well-loved songs of the past decades, Moonshine ‘Malaysia Day Special’ will treat all music lovers to an exceptional day of tribute to Malaysia and Malaysian music.

First introduced in 2005 as an open mic series, Moonshine music series was started by indie singer-songwriter, Reza Salleh. Created solely for the purpose of helping to populate the local independent scene with first class music, Moonshine is the platform that gives performers a chance to play and showcase what they have.

Now back for it’s 9th year, Moonshine, will celebrate this milestone with a star-studded ensemble. Performing for the Moonshine ‘Malaysia Day Special’ includes one of Malaysia’s national treasures — Najwa Mahiaddin. A brilliant singer-songwriter, Najwa who is a multiple AIM winner got her big break in 2011 with her award-winning single “You Got to Go”.

Currently based in New York, Najwa will be making her way back home to take the centre stage at Laundry to perform alongside other artists including Kyoto Protocol, Jin Hackman, The Vochale Project (TVP), Elizabeth Tan and many more.

So Malaysians, be sure to come show your support for our local talents and to commemorate our local music heritage on the glorious Malaysia Day. Come one, come all! ;)
