Over the weekend, Maxis and EA’s new Sims game for an official launch trailer ahead of its official release. The trailer, which was uploaded on Saturday, says, “Create your own weirder stories in The Sims 4 on September 2nd, 2014.”
Despite the fanfare that surrounded the announcement, the game has drawn some criticism from some loyal fans because some of the much loved features from “The Sims 3″ were reportedly taken out. Furthermore, recently, the developers for the game confirmed that there will be “no family trees”.
TS4, a website dedicated to the game also posted an entry a few days ago to elaborate on what’s missing. The missing features ranges from “no normal careers” e.g. medical, business, law enforcement, to no story progression i.e. Sims in the neighbourhood age but do not have children, get jobs, move, or get married, without player intervention.
Also, there’ll be no Mac version of “The Sims 4″ at the scheduled release date of the game. Not just yet, at least. So we guess Mac users will have to wait awhile. Other missing features (that were in “The Sims 3″) include:
- No create a style (CAST) – NOT possible in future expansions.
- No modifications to world/public spaces – The park in the demo is a mix of a community lot and public space.
- No open world – You must incur a loading screen between each active lot; each neighborhood has 1-5 lots total.
- No pools.
- No terrain tools other than paint; everything is perfectly flat.
- No toddlers.
- No way to create/place new lots – and you only have 2 empty ones at the start of the game!
On top of no aliens, no acne, no babysitters, no favourites (food, music, colour), no garage doors, no cemeteries, no cars, no bookstores, no burglars, and many many more.
In any case, despite the missing features, “The Sims 4″ will still essentially have the same concept as its predecessor. Fans will still be able to control their Sims in various activities and form relationships as well as create their own game content. The focus of the game might’ve shifted for Maxis but we’re pretty sure that they have more exciting features to offer e.g. exploring different personalities, new ways for your Sim to die, Sims moodlets, and other social features.

Did that want to make you #hashtag #your (currently) #foreveralone #life #away #while #waiting #for #it #to #be #released? “The Sims 4″ will be released on 2nd September (US) and 5th September (UK). As mentioned earlier, a Mac release is coming but no date has been announced yet.
