The international running phenomenon, “The Color Run”, made its way to Malaysia for the first time yesterday at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur. The 5-kilometer fun run debuted with over 13,000 runners from all walks of life, plastered from head to toe in a vibrant celebration of colors.
Billed as the “Happiest 5K on the planet”, The Color Run promotes healthiness, happiness and individuality by bringing the community together in this one day event. Eager participants were up and about for the first wave as early as 7am and were doused in a kaleidoscope of colors when they took to the track. The fun continued after with an epic Finish Festival.
Of course, no Color Run Festival would be complete without The Color Throw, an explosion of colors thrown up in the air, creating a myriad of color combinations. Fun-filled games and performances were also available in the area surrounding Padang Merbok, bringing friends and families together.
Also joining in the event’s merriment were underprivileged children from the community, beneficiaries of CIMB Foundation, who were thrilled to be participating as Color Runners. The Color Run is a completely new genre of running events that continues to grow exponentially. Founded in 2012, it has splashed out to more than 170 events in over 30 countries in 2013.
