When it comes to silver screen adaptations of childhood cartoons, the end result can either be good or catastrophic. In rare cases, it sits on neutral grounds. One such movie that have falling in that “a bit of both” rating category is none other than “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.

The bad was mostly in the first half of the movie, slightly slow so people might find it boring because there’s no action involved whatsoever. Megan Fox fans, however, will love the first half.

Megan Fox TMNT April

As plucky TV reporter April O’Neil, her character shines she seeks to do more than just “fluffy” news. So, she closely follows a story of the Foot Clan that’s busy terrorising New York and some mysterious vigilantes that keep foiling their criminal activities. Little did she know, those vigilantes are actually genetically enhanced turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo aka the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.

Then the second half of the movie kicks in, so does the speed. It’s more fast-paced, coupled with the turtles being the turtles that we’ve always loved – fun-loving, jokes-a-cracking, butt-kicking, and pizza-loving. Some might say that it’s the second half that truly saves the film from catastrophe and well, that much is true. The second half was really just an excuse to see the turtles brandish their ninja skill and do cool things!

Isn’t that what everyone wanted to see, anyway?

Because aside from April chasing down her story, running around the city looking for “the vigilante”, and more or less convincing people that she belongs in a psych ward because she was busy trying to “sell” the idea that there was a superhero in the city, the only other thing impressive about the entire movie was its creative action choreography. Oh, and also, the smooth animation and the CG of the turtles. Nevermind that they look like they’re turtles on steroids.

The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie is not meant to take seriously but we can tell you one thing – it’s entertaining. More importantly, it’s not going to spoil your childhood memories for you.
