The “Pray for Malaysia” programme held in conjunction with the National Day represents the strength and solidarity of Malaysians in facing tough times.
According to deputy director-general of Special Affairs Department (Jasa) Datuk Abu Talik Harun, the programme set to take place at Dataran Merdeka on August 15th, is to show gratitude and to remember the tragedies that has affected the country recently.
He said this in a press conference held after attending the pre-launch “Pray for Malaysia” programme at the Malaysian Tourism Centre (MaTIC) here yesterday.
The programme is co-organised by the Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Council (MAIWP); Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, the Cheras Education Foundation and TV Al-Hijrah.
“Hopefully this programme would remind all Malaysians to continue praying for the country, let us not face anymore bad news,” Abu Talib said.
He added that the “Pray for Malaysia” programme would start with prayers as well as special performances by popular Indonesian speaker Habib Syech Abdul Qadir Assegaf and local nasyid groups Inteam, Al-Mawlid and Anak Warisan Kedah.
“Pray for Malaysia” would be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and senior government officers with an expected attendance of 200,000 people.
