Following the success of the biopic on American screenwriter Ed Wood, Tim Burton has once again jumped onto the biopic bandwagon as he will be releasing a new biopic ,”Big Eyes”, during Christmas this year.

Two official stills of the film have been released, featuring Amy Adams and Christopher Waltz as the American husband-and-wife team Margaret and Walter Keane.

Big Eyes Amy Adams

“American Hustle” star Amy Adams is noticeably sporting the 50s platinum blonde hairdo to portray the painter Margaret Keane, who is known for drawing the over sized, doe-eyed children in her artworks.

In the movie, her artworks become the art-world sensation. Following which, Margaret’s husband Walter Keane snags the national celebrity status instead because he convinces Margaret that only a man could sell the artworks at a higher than price than a woman. Walter also insists on telling the world that he was the one who did the paintings after he added his own signature to the bottom of Margaret’s paintings.

Margaret’s husband Walter Keane is portrayed by the Austrian actor Christopher Waltz, who previously starred in the critically acclaimed war film, “Inglorious Basterds”. His supporting role has landed him several awards including an Academy Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and so on.

Through this film, both Adams and Waltz will be recreating the scenario set in the 50s, in which the Walter and Margaret Keane get into a legal battle to prove who’s the actual painter of drawings. In the end, Margaret would win the legal battle and continues to paint at the age of 87 in San Francisco.

“Margaret really believed that as a woman, people would not buy her art,” said Adams, who has previously taken the time to visit the painter herself. The actress learned the handling of the brush and paint from Margaret as well but she said she’d never “mastered it like Margaret has”.

The film is slated for a release on 25th of December this year, same day as Disney’s “Into the Woods”. Amy Adams, Christopher Waltz and Krysten Ritter are some of the cast that have been confirmed for the film. Amy Adams will also be reprising her role as Superman’s love interest, Lois Lane, in the upcoming Warner Bros’ film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”
